I bought my first bikini in 10 years last week and I think it's because of the work I've been doing with Felicia.

I'd been wanting to start strength training for months but struggled to find options in the area. After passing RHAX on West Portal by chance and seeing how nice the space looked, I decided to take the leap. Before starting, we had a quick phone consultation to go over my goals and experience level. I'm new to strength training and was nervous about signing up, but Richard has made the overall experience very approachable and I look forward to our sessions because of the results I'm seeing. Richard is knowledgeable and thoughtful in the workouts he designs. He's conscious of any injuries or weakness I might have going into each session, and will tailor the workout accordingly. The sessions go by quickly (I don't find myself checking the time and wishing the hour was over like I do during some group fitness classes..) and they're challenging and effective. I feel myself getting stronger and more confident every session. As a gym owner, you can tell Richard has put a lot of thought into the space he's built and the overall client experience. If you're new to strength training like me and looking for an approachable and knowledgeable trainer, I highly recommend working with Richard!

I reached out to diakadi because multiple people told me it was the best personal training gym, and I'm so glad I did. From the outset Billy was so kind and helpful, introducing me to my trainer Jaime. It's been 4 months since I started working out with Jaime and the results are clear -- I can wrangle my boys, carry heavy things, and have more endurance in all the tasks of being a mom. I feel stronger. Diakadi's trainers go through a rigorous interview process and looking around every time I go people are working out in a way that supports long term health and fitness, vs the way group fitness pushes you but often at the expense of injury. With all the literature on the importance of muscle mass for long term health, this is hands down the best investment in myself I've made in the past few years.

From the moment you walk in, it's clear this place is different. It's small, welcoming, and gloriously low-key -- the kind of gym where peeps actually smile at you !! Daiya, the owner (and yes, it's 100% women-owned, which is worth a cheer right there ), has thought of everything: clean space, great lighting, fantastic music, and the best vibe in the Castro. I took a Total Reset class -- six people max, five that day -- and it honestly felt like personal training disguised as group fitness. Daiya is laser-focused on form, super encouraging, and just when you think you can't do another rep, she makes you believe you can. It's that perfect mix of safe and "oh my god, my legs are on fire." The gym may be small, but it's mighty: spotless equipment, top-tier sound system, and views of Market Street where you can watch cute dogs trot by while you question your life choices mid-plank. She also makes it a point to welcome everyone -- all sizes, levels, genders, and orientations. It's the most inclusive fitness environment I've ever been in. The only drawback? No showers. But honestly, after a class like that, you'll be glowing with pride (and maybe a little sweat), so who needs one? 10/10 -- would recommend, and my biceps agree.

I also can't/won't work out everyday or even every other. But I dont want to get lost in a large class hoping Im doing the moves right. That is why I love the small group classes offered at BODY. And Daivya makes the workout classes fun. There's great music. There's laughter. There's a community. And great classes like Fight Club and HIIT the Weights. Plus she changes it up every so often and there's new classes to try. Love Steps and can't wait to try Lit! But what I've really been enjoying lately are the yoga classes. The best thing about small yoga classes are the extras. You'll probably rarely get a shavasana assist or a bit of reiki thrown into a restorative class if you take a big yoga studio class. And another good thing about small group classes, the instructor has a better chance of knowing your limitations and your strengths and have the ability to find the right things to push you beyond what you thought was your ability.

He carefully fine-tunes movements and adjusts positioning on the spot, which is so helpful for a beginner like me. I was so pleased with John that I asked whether he'd be willing to work with my 21 year old son, who is autistic and nonspeaking. John agreed, and he was wonderful with my son. Patient and direct, and he made thoughtful adaptations based on what my son was able to do in the moment. I look forward to continuing to work with John and having him as part of my son's routine as well. He's everything you could ask for in a personal trainer, and we feel lucky to have found him.

As a long-time athlete and coach, John knows how to train for health and longevity as well as function and performance. Whether your goal is to look better, feel better, or move better in daily life or as an athlete, he'll create a plan tailored specifically to you. If you're just starting out and don't know where to begin, or you're a seasoned fitness enthusiast looking to refine your goals, he can meet you where you are and help you progress. Despite his experience, John is always learning and fine-tuning his craft to better serve his clients. He doesn't just talk the talk--he walks the walk. For as long as I can remember, John has been into fitness and sports. He's always been an inspiration to me. He taught me how to strength train and even coached me in a team sport (dragon boat). Fast forward to today--I can do 11 pull-ups and 27 push-ups. At the time of this review, I'm 28 years young. Video uploaded is my 10 pull-up personal record from 1 year ago. This review is coming from his lovely sister--no bias *wink*. I just wanted to add my two cents because he's truly underrated and terrible at marketing himself. Give him a shot and see if he's the right trainer for you. If not, no hard feelings--finding the right trainer is all about fit. It'll take some trial and error. Let's turn those New Year's resolutions into a permanent part of you *flex muscle emoji*! It's an investment not only in your health, but also your quality of life. P.S. He's based out of San Francisco in the Sunset and Parkside district. Occasionally, he takes online clients.
