Pillar To Post Home Inspectors - Brian LeClair

When we purchased our new home we were given a list of a bunch of home inspectors. I called every…read moreone of them and ultimately decided on Pillar to Post because of many different factors. They offered all the services I wanted in a home inspector, had great reviews online, and when I called they were very lovely to talk to. They had great recommendations from my friends who used them in the past as well. When first calling we were provided a no pressure list of all the services they provide to our email so we could evaluate on our own time. If we had any questions, which of course I did because I am a bit paranoid and want the best for my family, I was able to call them back and the receptionist actually explained all the services how they worked and gave recommendations if we asked. She didn't try to force us to purchase anything extra we didn't need. Scheduling was simple and quick. On the inspection day, the techs came out and did everything they needed to do, then had us come out to go over the initial report and ask all the millions of questions we had. (Thanks to Brian for being so patient with us). He even gave us recommendation on how to fix a couple of things. We received our inspection report very quickly, the mold report came back the next day! Both were very detailed and thorough! Buying a house is stressful enough, so many things can go wrong but I feel very sure that Pillar to Post helped us alleviate so much of that stress! Thank you to the entire team. I would 100% recommend this to anyone.

I'll give the facts about what happened to my home while Rob Bassett from Ambassettor was there and…read morelet you draw your own conclusions. Ambassettor was hired by a potential purchaser of my house to do an inspection as a condition to closing of sale transaction (as is standard). I left my house a few minutes before the inspection was scheduled to begin. Several hours later, I received a call from my real estate broker informing me that the inspector was having issues with both sump pumps in my basement (one pumps water from a bathroom to the sewer and one pumps groundwater out of the house). I returned home to find my basement bathroom partially flooded and Rob and the buyer's broker rushing around to clean up, with towels spread around sopping up water on the floor. We then noticed that the GFCI outlet that provides power to both pumps was tripped, which would explain why they weren't working. Once we hit the reset button on the outlet, power was restored and the bathroom pump immediately began working, but the groundwater pump did not start working again. It soon became clear the groundwater pump, which needs to activate 3-4 times per hour to keep my basement from flooding, was broken. I don't know what Rob did to trip the GFCI outlet (which had only ever tripped once before about 2 years ago) or what he might have done to the groundwater pump, but Rob claimed he did not break it. But, if the pump were broken before he arrived (even 1-2 hours before he arrived), water would've started to flood into the basement. The pump had been going off multiple times per hour for 4 straight years until Rob stepped foot in my house, and then suddenly it was broken - seems like quite a crazy coincidence that it happened to just break on its own while he was there... Because of the risk of imminent flooding (the sump pump chamber was an inch from being completely filled with water), I had to call an emergency after-hours plumber (it was 8pm) to come urgently and replace the pump. Rob has refused to pay for the cost of the replacement, apparently taking the position that the pump just broke on its own while he was alone in the house. Proceed with caution.

Rob was awesome. Very thorough and made sure we understood everything. Highly recommend!read more
