He took time to really check the whole home and explain his findings. I especially appreciated the care he took at the end to "translate" the technically parts for me and my partner to ensure we understood. The technician invited me to watch and explained as he went which was very helpful. He also stayed a few minutes afterwards to answer my questions. I would definitely recommend this team!

The inspector completed the inspection and delivered a report, but afterwards I discovered several concerning conditions I believe were present and visible at the time of the inspection, but were not mentioned in the report These include: * Cracks in the front brick veneer * Multiple hairline drywall cracks in interior walls * A noticeably uneven front entry door/frame * Uneven crawlspace beam support posts and brackets I had a structural engineer and two foundation professionals evaluate the home. They found that many of these issues had been caused by foundation settling and their consensus was that, although the issues were not severely critical, they were still very significant and should definitely have been flagged in the inspection report. I've needed to take steps with significant financial cost to address these problems before they get worse. I contacted the company with photos and these evaluations. They did offer a refund of the inspection fee ($525), the maximum listed in their contract, but I chose not to accept it because of the additional restrictions it came with. I am very disappointed that so many important conditions were not included in the inspection report even though I feel they were easy to identify and I regret the significant financial expense that I've had to face because of this.

After our flood, we went hunting for a good general handyman to do some drywall repair. What we found at A Better Home Inspection was much more. The report was fairly comprehensive, and as a first time home-buyer, I was satisfied (as was my realtor). Problem was, they missed something pretty damn big. My electrician mentioned that this was easily the builder and inspectors faults for missing... and now I'm out $1200 - I haven't had a chance to reach out to them yet to see if they'd be willing to assist, hoping they will. Overall, not the worst experience, but would expect perfection in a profession like this.

Gene came out within two days and performed a very thorough inspection as well as radon testing and sewer scoping. After inspecting each major zone, he walked through each item with me to point out his observations and let me ask questions. Apparently Gene was so thorough that our realtor got annoyed that he was taking the full 4 hours (which is exactly how long they said it could take) since she thought it should've been done quicker. Good thing she wasn't the one paying the bill since we were happy customers and that's what matters. We even received a follow up call from the owner, Mike, who reviewed the radon results with us and answered any lingering questions about some of the items that were found. Highly recommended!

The inspector also nearly caused damage to my house in two instances. The first was in trying to remove the electric panel cover that "was not designed to be removed, but merely hinge" (quote from a licensed electrician). The second was filling a tub in a bathroom under construction with posted plans and status that had not been properly sealed. If Colorado had a licensing body for home inspection, I would have lodged a formal complaint. The inspectors actions could easily of jeopardized the sale. He also made a recommendation to violate federal safety laws to remove a safety item from the garage door opener. Of the 72 findings, 25 where inaccurate, 4 I can not find documentation to prove or disprove, and 4 were for a the bathroom undergoing construction. He also raised concerns about a potential major structural issue with the house that was woefully inaccurate. The emotional damage, stress, and financial burden of this company's terrible inspection is simply unacceptable, and an experience I would not wish on anyone. On top of that their companies response is to gaslight me by claiming the findings are differences of opinions and that I am just an upset seller vs someone with legitimate grievance. It continues to showcase how unprofessional they are. I highly recommend going with a different inspection company.
