Our main issue was a chimney that was leaking into our third floor bedroom. In asking around, the only company that we were told to call was AMERICAN CHIMNEY. I will say at first that I was a little put off because their assistant/receptionist does not answer the phone much, and they appear to prefer communicating with customers via email; however, now I am a believer. They are simply very busy, and email is the best way to properly respond to everyone. And these guys know their stuff. They do beautiful work. We had American Chimney come out to initially give us a quote on rebuilding our chimneys (we have four of them). They are not cheap, but you get what you pay for. This may sound dumb, but I keep going outside to stare at how great our chimney looks now. Because we live in a historic district, American Chimney mixes a special mortar that was used at the time that these house were built so that the new chimney matches the house. They took off every brick from our old chimney and relayed those same bricks with the new mortar, adding new chimney caps. Gorgeous, gorgeous work, and very pleasant folks who showed up to do the job (I think we had the owners son do our job...very sweet). If you need masonry work done, it's very important to have it done right. This is your home! Send these guys out to do the work...no job is too small. You will not regret it!

We liked one fireplace in particular and discussed it's features. Next we had a representative stop by our home and measure the space. We were then told that the fire brick had to come out and an electric box had to be installed - and they don't do that work. We said we would like to proceed. They said ok. I talked with 3 different fireplace masons and 2 electricians. None would do this work because of the unknowns - so I did the firebox prepping myself. It took numerous texts and emails, (at least 20 as I got different answers every time,) to determine exactly what needed to be done. I finished the work in mid December. Since we were told that the equipment would be in to install in 6-8 weeks, in mid January I sent an email asking when we might see installation. I was told that they had not yet ordered it. They then told us that they need 1/2 down on it to proceed. There was no mention of this before then, in spite of a whole bunch of emails. So at that point I began looking for other fireplace services. We found a better service to use in DeGraff, OH that was cheaper, quicker, more responsive and had what we wanted. (And they would have done the fireplace prep work.) I don't recommend this place for redoing fireplaces. Communication is terrible.

Robert did a great job filling cracks and building the parge (protective layer inside the fireplace) while both Russ and Robert completed outside work, replacing the crown, improving the flues and flue caps. As always, communication is top-notch and I would not hesitate to recommend Cinci Sweeps to anyone for inspections, cleaning and reconstruction. (Original review for November 2020): I would echo the other five-star reviews. I then was given a time when someone would stop by and inspect my chimney via drone. The time came and went and there was no contact from CCS. I then reached out again and was told everything looked fine and there were no issues. I asked if there were any pictures of the chimney they could share. I was told no they didn't take any. I then went back and looked on my outdoor camera and noticed that the truck arrived at my house at the day in question but no one ever left the truck. No drone ever exited the truck. Nothing was actually done and 5 mins after the truck arrived, the truck left. I then pointed this out to the owner/operator and all communication stopped. I would stay away from this company before investing thousands of dollars with them as you obviously cannot trust what they say. Beware.

He inspected the outside of the fireplace and we do need work out there. We have used Chimney Works before when we had a fire. And we were pleased with the result. I did call James to ask some follow up questions about the sweep and soot since someone said they expected soot to be removed. Soot is embedded and I did not expect it all to be removed. I had questions and they were answered.
