Poppies at Reach 11 Recreation Area on 3/3/2022...

I found a smattering of poppies on March 3.2022 at the Reach 11 Recreation Area west of Horse Lovers Park. Too bad that the beautiful poppies are in such an otherwise unattractive area. Oh well, at least they dress it up a little!

I attended the 2014 Olympic Development Program Region IV soccer championship here on January 9 - 13, 2014. The field conditions were absolutely impressive! Level, real grass field conditions (except for the field turf in the stadium). The field grass is so impressive, that it resembles a golf course fairway, more than a soccer field. First class soccer goals, coaching tents, convenient port-a-potties, and public restrooms that provide hot running water. Over 18 fields, all equipped with lighting for evening games. If you are playing an evening game in the winter, be sure to wear long sleeves, as the temperature drops to 40 degrees F when the sunsets. This sports complex is so huge, that you will need to drive from fields 1-8 to 9 through 18. We were there for 4 days, and did not have a chance to visit the dog park, golf facilities, or swimming pool.

Easily one of the top soccer complexes in the country. The pitches are fantastic with nearly 20 well kept fields. The entire complex is well lit and there is ample parking for even the busiest of days. The park hosts numerous youth tournaments, recreational leagues, US Youth soccer events, and even US National Team camps. The backdrop is gorgeous at sun up and sun down. Only complaint would be the lack of cover throughout the complex to aid those in attendance from the heat and sun.

Good place to watch youth soccer. Fields are always in good condition, the only drawback is the location which is way north for me given that I live in Chandler. I hope they try and expand the playground/ kid area for the little ones. This would make it even better for families given that the current area provided gets overwhelmed during tournaments. They could have also be more creative/ family friendly when designing the bathrooms. Lots of possibilities to do it better.

This is by far one of the best planned out soccer complex layouts here in Arizona. Restrooms and vendors are conveniently located. Be sure to bring money as they have kettle corn popcorn! One of my favorite snacks! Cool thing about the fields here is that the synthetic turf looks great!

Me daughter has had several soccer practices and games here and they have very nice field and seating. I've been to a lot of fields and other games and I highly recommend this place! Go Foothills Academy Blackhawks! The have stadium seating, bathrooms but make sure your bring your own water. Hot out here dying the games. Stay hydrated!

    Great day for soccer!

The fields here are anyways in good shape. No concessions makes it difficult to stay here all day though.

The nicest soccer field facility I've been to in Phoenix. They do a very good job on the upkeep and cleaniness.

It's unfortunate that a simple kids soccer game could turn into a political pay off. The parents were cussing at our kids, yelling at the parents and the ref was making calls to benefit the home team. A kid on our team was throwing the ball in and a kid from the other team went behind him (as he was throwing the ball in) and PUSHED him. It was completely obvious and the ref didn't do anything, that should have been a RED card. The parents should be ashamed that they are raising their kids to be cheaters rather than play the game the right way. I am not a racist person and I am ashamed of my own race because of the way the parents on the other team acted toward our defense, yelling racial slurs. After the f"u@k boy ref was obviously paid off and added 10 minutes to the game, this is when the other team scored and won. Their sorry team scored off a penalty kick and their team was clearly offsides both times. We know our boys played a clean honest game. Karma will come back and bite you in the a** when we play your cheating team again.

We loved her coach and they put her on a predominantly girl team (which she loved) with a girl coach. I wish that I was able to do this with my older daughter because she strongly disliked the co-ed team where she was almost always the only girl. I love that there is no pressure for a parent to volunteer to coach and the coaches are actually experienced. The practices are always very organized and fun. The kids are learning and definitely enjoying the activities. I have read a negative review and I am sure there are bad seed coaches everywhere but we LOVE our coach, she is friendly and engaging. We will definitely continue to go through North Valley Soccer Club.

We had a hard time finding the practice basket but it's directly to the right of the first tee pad (behind the playground/picnic area if you're looking from the parking lot). The course itself was set with the best of intentions, using the hill to challenge us in throwing upwards/downwards and maintenance buildings as obstacles. The desert shrubbery, while not too much trouble to throw over or around, was similar across the entire course. It didn't make for a super exciting round until we hiked halfway up the hill around basket 10. When I was there, every single basket was set out, some with cones/flags for visibility and others just camouflaged into the landscape. It made figuring out the course a little difficult and we ended up playing into other people's baskets on accident not realizing we were aiming for the wrong ones. While the pads and baskets are well maintained, the map at the park is a little worse for wear and difficult to follow. The tee pads each have their own maps too, pointing to the next basket which was helpful. Lots of walkers and dogs going through the course, but just keep yelling fore and have a little patience! I liked the big field to practice throwing distance drivers without losing them on the course. I didn't like the amount of trash and cans/bottles littered around the course. But we encountered friendly folks and clean bathrooms, and it's a perfectly average course in the area.
