I swear, too many people use Yelp just to complain. I appreciate how well-marked the trails are here. There are many signs and color markings on trees to tell you what trail you're on and the intersections with other trails. The trails aren't too steep but there are a lot of tree roots so be sure to watch your step. There are nice views of Lake Cochichewet along the trails and at least one bench nearby so you can relax and enjoy the view. I did see one off-leash dog so I can see how that would be annoying. Thankfully the dog was friendly and all the other dogs I saw were leashed. I brought my dog on a leash and he enjoyed the walk. Parking lot is a little small but it's free. I plan to come here with my dog again and explore the other trails.

The trail was well maintained and easy for walking although it was called as "moderate" in some other mobile apps. All the trail signs are clear and easy to follow. When getting to the top of Holt hill, you will be amazed by the Boston skyline without occlusion. Compared to the breathtaking view at Holt hill, the one at the top of Boston hill slightly disappoints me. It is still an enjoyable walk surrounded by the view of the sunset, but the skyline is missing. You may not get too much out of the elephant rock. Again, overall it is a fantastic place for walking, jogging, and biking.

I don't know if the type of vacation (hiking and camping) helped to self select the people but by the end of the week we had gotten really close as a group. SUP YO also picked amazing guides. They were fun, funny, knowledgeable, and basically one of the gang with guide authority. The owner of the company came with us on this trip. She was fun, did everything we did, never put on any airs, and I felt like she was "one of us.". All of the food, hotel, etc was taken care of. We even celebrated a birthday for one one of the hikers in the group! The trails are well kept up and so good to be around. We found some of the layered ice pieces that look like Lacey ice. This is a great outing, even if you are not from around here. I think being there early (8 am) helped since we were alone on the trails. Check it out.

The dozens of species of birds are not shy; the frogs, turtles, rabbits, red squirrels, chipmunks, etc., aren't all that shy either! It has a nicely set up learning center ( and classes) for kids, plus canoes for rental if that's your thing. Mandatory warnings: use bug spray and, especially, wear long pants to ward off ticks. And be prepared for a slightly tricky narrow road ending in an often-crowded parking lot. As for the cost: get yourself an Audubon membership and entry will be free, plus you'll be supporting good conservation work.
