I usually don't post, but if I saw these other reviews I would not of stopped in Re-Cycle. I don't know what happen 3 years ago that prompt the bad customer service but I didn't have those problems. My bicycle was hit by a car and the wheel and frame were bent and for a reasonable price he fixed it with in a week. I tried him again for a flat on my wife's bike and it was fixed it right away which made my wife happy. It a nice little bike shop and the bike accessories (not a wide variety) were not over price. Re-Cycle also has a friendly shop dog made my reviews from 4 to a 5 star. Nice little neighborhood bike shop that I would recommend. read more

Tyler, the long-bearded owner treated me with such disrespect that I am still left wondering what went wrong. My simple questions were met with open contempt and then he went on to judge me based on my appearance. I am not sure what he had to gain from insulting me and then following me into the parking lot to continue his tirade, but as anyone can see from the pattern of experiences in the other reviews on google that he has no intentions of changing the way he treats his customers. Be sure to read the reviews from google. Tyler has found an excuse to blame all 38 of the negative reviewers that gave his business 1 star. There is a reason that EVERY other bike shop in town gets a 4-star plus rating and Tyler's shop gets a 2.5. I recommend this shop for anyone that wishes to be insulted and treated like trash. read more

15 degree weather and I have a flat tire. I stopped by to use their outside tire pump, but it wasn't working. I went inside for help and he told me I had to pay $25 for labor to use the pump inside. My experience in this store now makes sense after reading other reviews. I was the only customer in the store and I did not feel safe. I bought a saddle and an handlebar. He said he will install (I asume for free) while I was bargaining the price. I finish paying and reluctantly ask for help installing the saddle, which he did. I ask for help with handle bars as well but the store attendant says he'll hand me the tools and have me do it myself outside the store. He I called him out on his customer service and he goes ballistic, shouting at me to get out. read more

Had a shocking and frankly threatening experience here. I went in with my three year old daughter to find a wheel replacement. He showed me the one he had and as I was looking he noticed that my daughter was holding one of the plastic tire levers. He kind of made a slight annoyed noise and asked her to put it back. I assisted in asking her to keep them in the box. Understandable, he wants to keep things in good shape. After looking at the wheel and deciding that it was not the one I was looking for he put it away. I had a few other basic questions and as I was asking him he began violently throwing stuff that was on top of his counter underneath it. At this point I said ok to my daughter lets go. Up to this point I had been nothing but kind and generally inquisitive but clearly this was uncomfortable. He came around from his counter and said you need to get out of here now in more than just a rude tone, it was borderline aggressive. I said hey yeah we are going now. I picked up my daughter and as I was walking toward the door he followed behind me less than a foot away and started an overtly aggressive slew of comments about my daughter and the fact that I came in and didn't buy anything. It was not just mad it was aggressive and his body language was postured as if he was ready to use physical aggression. I told him "hey man we are leaving the store please back away and give us some space" . This absolutely set him off and his speed of walking and posture became even more threatening. He followed us out in to the parking lot continuing to yell at us. I, holding my daughter exclaimed to him that he needs to back away now. I was feeling so threatened that I had to tell him that I would not hesitate to use the wheel to defend myself and that I was ready to call the police. With this he made a step at me and I had to raise the wheel up to show him I was serious. He backed away and went back to the door of the shop and continued to yell from there as I got my daughter in the car. As I backed out and passed his shop to the street he was still yelling now threatening that he was going to call the police, also while taking pictures of my license plate. Just for reference I believe his name is Tyler, he has a long beard. This was absolutely bizarre and I left shaking obviously never to return. Please do not go to this store and if you know anyone that is thinking about going to a bike shop please inform them not to go here. There are plenty of other awesome bike shops in town and all of them are at the very least kind and helpful. read more

I phoned to ask if they have a used bicycle to fit my height. The person said he was Tyler; how much was I looking to spend. I replied, "As little as possible," a colloquial kind of answer meaning that I didn't want a high priced used bicycle. He said, "We don't have anything for you then." And hung up. I thought it was some kind of mistake, so I phoned back, because I'm realistic & know what used bicycles go for. I'd just answered his question. He'd blocked my phone number! Really too bad; because I'd probably have bought a bicycle from them, if they had one that was the right size & a decent price. read more

"One-wording" extraordinare! I'd never buy a bike from this guy. I'm in his shop looking at his offerings for my college aged kids - some great bikes - while at the same time asking questions. Put out, he pretty much says, "Hey are you gonna buy a bike today, or what?" Don't need to buy from an uninterested shop employee or owner. I certainly hope he wasn't the latter. read more

The guy with the beard is a complete Jerk. I went in looking for a children's tag a long. I asked if they had them, "no." was his abrupt response. They had an awesome used road bike I would have bought, but Tyler could not have been more rude. I felt like asking if I offended him in someway. I tried to engage him about the bike, but the rudeness continued. I thought the rude bike shop mechanic was just a stereotype. It is alive and well on south street. I got kicked out of Re-Cycled Bicycle because I was looking at bike bags and tools, and not there to buy a bike, per the owner's question. I was then told that I was "wasting his air conditioning and water" (which I asked politely about when I walked in) and that he "heard Monkey Wrench and Cycle Works love it when people come in to waste time." The owner was very rude. When I tried to reply that I was looking at his merchandise, he continually interrupted me and told me to leave. I then said "Ok" and left. I'm truly shocked. I would suggest you support great local bike shops like Monkey Wrench Cycles and Cycle Works. I have never been treated anything but amazing in those businesses. read more

Do yourself a favor, never step foot in this store. I have never been treated as poorly as I was here. The owner, Tyler, has zero interest in anything but maintaining his constantly irritable attitude. I've been in this shop twice and I'll never be back every again. Visit The Monkey Wrench, you'll be much happier you did. As I said, I've been there twice, the first time I just chalked up to him maybe being in a bad mood, we've all been there. The second time is why I feel I should warn others. I'm a collector of vintage bikes, always looking for parts for current and future projects. I've been in MANY bike shops. I noticed he had some vintage items in a case and I saw a chain I could probably use in the future, he didn't have any prices on the older parts. He asked me to make him an offer, so I offered $40, he suggested $60 and we agreed on that. I was looking through more parts when I asked the price for different chain. He stated "I'm going to need more for that other chain." I was shocked, I told him that we agreed on a price and asked why he would back out of our deal. He said he had "looked it up" and it was worth more. I asked him why he had given me a price if he didn't intend to honor that price and he accused me of trying to rip him off, stating "why would I sell it to you when I can make more money selling somewhere else." I said that was unbelievable and started to leave. As I was walking out he made a snide comment making fun of my socks (I was wearing cycling socks). I asked him what he said and he asked me if I was going to buy a bike (funny thing is, I was in there to buy a brown Schwinn cruiser I remembered he had). I looked over at the bike I had walked in there for but I just couldn't deal with him anymore, so I told him "no." He kept asking if I was going to buy a bike, to the point I blurted out "Jesus Christ" out of sheer disbelief. That really upset him to the point he was calling me "hostile." I said he was the one acting hostile towards me. He then told me repeatedly to "get the f*ck out." Such an angry person. I decided to look up the chain, $80, it regularly sells for $80. He did all that for $20. read more

I went to this shop today, because I enjoy going to bike shops. Maybe I'm odd in that way. The man working inquired what I was looking for. I responded that I wasn't looking for anything in particular, but was interested in possible getting a bicycle with wider tires for winter riding as the seasons changed. I also asked about getting a bicycle painted, because I sort of want to paint my bike because I don't really love its color. I commented that he had a lot of bikes in his store, and then I started looking at the accessories, bike pumps. helmets, fenders, etc... In about 5 minutes, the attendant asked what he could sell me today. I reiterated that I was just looking. He said that I had been there for about five minutes, and that he was going to have to ask me to leave now. I chuckled because I thought he was joking, but he wasn't. So I left. I won't be spending my Saturday afternoons in this shop. read more

I entered Re-Cycled with the mindset of purchasing a cruiser bicycle for my friend. He had a bike we were interested in. Tyler is the name of the owner that help my friend and I. He said, he would have go through it, And it would be approximately $200 dollars. I asked him to give me a quote. He would not give me a quote. I was fine with that part , but then he started to have an attitude, "Do you know how busy I am"? This is what he said to my friend and I. I have read other reviews of this shop and a lot of the reviews say the say thing, "very rude, terrible customer service, profanity was used." He shop was a mess and I can imagine the type of work that would result from getting repair at this shop. My friend and I visited 5 other bike shops that day and I would recommend all of them except this one. I am serious this has to be the worst customer service I have ever received. He said, I will sell the bike to someone. That might be correct and it will not be me, and I vow to tell 30 other friends of mine not to go there as well. Customer service is one of the most important aspects of a business, and I am sorry to say, Tyler is lacking skills in this department. I would post 1/2 star if I could. I wish I could give this place negative stars. The owner cursed at me and threw me out of his shop. I stopped by just before 3 p.m. on a Friday and waited patiently while the guy working (I think his name is Tyler. He has a gross, scraggly beard.) helped another customer. When the other customer left, I told him I was looking for a bolt, which he had for $3.90. When I pulled out my wallet to pay, I realized I only had a dollar cash on me and said so out loud. I was thinking maybe I could buy something else (like a water bottle, a saddle or handlebar tape) to make it worth using a credit card. But before I could say anything else he began swearing at me for wasting his time. He told me to get the F*ck out of his shop before he called the police. So I left and went to another bike shop where I used my credit card to buy the part I needed for $1 plus $50 worth of other stuff. So not only is he a jerk, his stock is over priced. read more
