I was a loyal customer to the business that was bought out by Maryjo Boynton. The location was convenient, so I continued to use her services. Prior to 2024 I had no complaints. However, after the amount of taxes due spiked in 2024, I decided to take a look at the numbers, and discovered an egregious error. They had utterly failed to account for the money I put into an IRA, which added about $1,800 to my taxes. I had submitted to them the form to report this. They failed. Period. The following is the text exchange I initiated after Ms. Boynton failed to return my phone calls. Note that she couldn't even be bothered to proofread herself. Quite the professional, eh? ME: Maryjo, I can't access the portal to pay my bill. I've left phone messages for 3 days, but haven't heard back. Please respond. Thanks. MS. BOYNTON: Mr. Haeuser, your portal has been closed. You were very definite in your last message to me that my service was not making you happy. I sent you back a message the next day- "if you are not happy with my services, which you have been receiving for the last few years you at a very discounted rate, then I suggest you find a new preparer that is what you consider affordable. I have deleted the return out of the portal. I will close you portal at the end of the week. Sincerely, Maryjo Boynton" ME: Ms. Boynton, I did not receive that message. If I had, why would I repeatedly call you to report an issue with the portal? That makes no sense, does it? At any time you could have simply returned my call, which your answering machine claimed would happen within 48 hours, but did not. As for being happy with your services, didn't someone else actually prepare my returns? The oversight on my IRA contribution could have cost me almost $1,800. Should I be happy about that, and the fact that I just realized it happened last year as well, and I'll need to file an amended return, which should be your responsibility? Check your records - I submitted all of the required forms. Prior to this, have I complained about anything, ever? No. And yet you immediately drop me as a customer, leaving me high and dry less than 2 weeks before the IRS filing deadline, while deleting all of my records, including prior years and all prior communications, including my willingness to delay a re-file for last year until you had more time available. You're seriously misreading this situation. The mistakes were not mine, and yet you're acting as though they were. To be clear, and for the record, these mistakes were made by employees of rbce, and should be rectified by employees of rbce. MS. BOYNTON: I can decide who my clients are and how to run my business. Look else where. You are no longer my client. MS. BOYNTON: You have an extension. You have plenty of time before the October deadline. ______ end of messages ______ A real professional, eh? Had our taxes done for the third year in a row again with good results. They E filed for us and we got our refund in less than two weeks.

Incompetent didn't even touch the HORRIBLE experience I had. More than 3 months ago I was told I would get an "expedited " return if I would pay a additional charge. I agreed and asked to pay in advance. Was told to watch for the email ... never came. More than a dozen calls and a dozen emails most completely ignored over the next 2 months. Promise of call's back which never happened. 3 times a week for the past 3 weeks told "soon" but nothing no contact no communication. Begged them to do as promised they offered lame excuses and stalled some more. Promise on June 11 was again "soon" Got first copies late Thursday 25 there were errors???? Was instructed to call at 2 pm next day and I did and at 4 and 430 NOTHING... Today the 29th and still nothing... they are well aware this HAD to happen by the 30th but it seems they just don't care read more

I was pretty disappointed with this business. I have been using this service for few years. She messed up one of my tax return. I got a letter from IRS that I owed $30k. I was shocked when I got that letter and asked her to help since she did that tax return. She helped me to call IRS and she didn't know why, she didn't seem know how to fix it. She told me she was for sure that she filed the form correctly. She told me to print out 6 years bank statements per IRS request?!! She didn't seem care either!! I found it ridiculous and felt hopeless with her ,so I found another CPA to fix her mess. My new CPA looked at my tax return and told me she didn't file that form correctly. He fixed it for me and no he didn't ask me to print out 6 years of my bank statement. He just needed to re-submit the form! She had been ok for me until this mess came up. My current CPA is a lot more knowledgeable and only a little more expensive. Save yourself a headache, find yourself a CPA! read more

I have been going to Maryjo for years and she has been fine up until this year that Kristy her employee has made a mess of my taxes. I missed the deadline because she screwed up the documents and never let us know about it. Every time we call and ask for an update she NEVER EVER replies, calls or emails. I had my daughter call and she admitted that all our emails get pushed aside because it has been a mess so she doesn't reply. When my daughter asked why she would do that rather than help us out, she hung up on her. After multiple calls no response and even blocked her number. - I even got the tax return of a DIFFERENT PERSON!!!! and she had nothing to say about it except "if you don't like how I work you can find somewhere else" I have NEVER had such a horrible experience. Honestly, if you are reading this go to walmart and get your taxes done at the booth there, it will be 100% times better than this crap hole. SERIOUSLY RUN AWAY FROM HERE. read more

Long story short my old tax preparer recommended his clients here since he retired. It took over a month to get my taxes worked and yes I understand covid but I was told they were working from home. Lisa didn't ask if I wanted Direct deposit ( seems like a basic question) so it was submitted 4/17 and still till today 6/25 my refund has not been issued. Spoke with a rep with the IRS who stated had it been requested electronically I would have already had it. I just suggest for the amount charged and service provided you should go else where. Then there was a mistake that would of cost me $2500 in taxes if I hadn't caught it. No apology, no refund. I wouldn't have peace of mind if I didn't warn you. I cannot recommend them. It took months to get my taxes filed, I didn't get a copy of the efile docs, then they lost my original documents. Cheyanne and MaryJo lied to me for months. They said they would drop them off at my house or mail them. No one ever called me back regarding the documents. Most of the original employees quit this year because of the problems. read more

MaryJo and her team were helpful and responsive. Any issues I had with them were on me - not them. If you wait until the last minute, you will be disappointed, so make sure you set appointments in advance. They're in high demand, so get it done soon. If you don't, she'll automatically file and extension for you, which I've had other accountants do in the past. Be practical and responsible, y'all. You can't expect her to turn things super quickly - because she is a quality accountant, she gets lots of business and she meets with you herself, so you have the benefit of her decades of expertise. Each meeting was pretty quick because she was able to very rapidly tell me what to expect because of her wealth of knowledge. I was usually in and out in about 15 minutes, with a portfolio of personal taxes, real estate, investments, royalties, donations, and a corporation. That expertise is worth a lot for my time. I especially liked that I was able to coordinate a time via email, avoiding the back-and-forth phone calls. I could send her files over email as well. Very convenient. She is very practical and easy to talk with. Also - she does both personal and business taxes, which was super helpful to me as a business owner. We're using her again for 2019 taxes. read more

This is one of a very few negative reviews I've written, but I feel I need to warn people. My mother was a client of RBCE for many years. As her health deteriorated, I took over administration of her taxes. What started out as a cordial and professional relationship has deteriorated to absolute non-communication. Even after contacting Maryjo repeatedly last year in an attempt to get Mom's taxes filed timely, I had to beg them to prepare her return and ended up having to rush to the PO just before midnight. Then I got a letter from the IRS stating we owed another $3300 (we'd already paid a LOT). I've contacted RBCE repeatedly without response. Last week I received a certified letter from the IRS threatening to levy Mom's assets! I called them in tears. Maryjo is on vacation. I was asked to send in the paperwork which I did and several days later, I've heard NOTHING. Save your self a lot of trouble and stay away. read more

These are the worst....the absolute worst. Handed in all my Tax return paperwork on April 2nd. I expected that I would owe money and they said no problems, all paperwork will be filed and complete by April 15th. Hear nothing from them.....zero between April 2 and April 14. Left multiple voicemails.....no response. Finally today, April 15th I went up to see them. Oh we're sorry, you should have been told that any paperwork received after Mar 29th would need an extension request. Ok....have you done that? No. Have you done anything with the paperwork....No. Lady (Madeline) said, let me have a quick look at it, it should be quick. A) Absolutely not will I allow a "quick look" to determine how much i owe the IRS. B) My taxes are complicated and historically needed some back and forth with my old accountant, who has sadly retired. I took my paperwork and got out of there. I got a call a couple of hours later.....oh we filed your extension. Ok - what do I owe? We don't know, you took your paperwork. I mean WTF???? BTW - there was a guy there rolling his eyes and mouthing - "these guys are horrible". Use them at your own risk. read more

Worst CPA in Cedar Park! Buyer beware! I had been with Mary Edwards for almost 20 years with excellent results. When Mary Jo took over, she didn't have a clue about customer service. She promised taxes in two weeks, three weeks later I reached out and she was extremely rude. She told me she had to file an extension and blamed me. Terrible customer service and people skills. I finally got aggravated and went to pick up my information to use a real CPA. When I arrived on April 15th. She was out back with her receptionist smoking a cigarette and throwing a toy to the dog. On April 15th (tax day) really?!?!?! That explains why my tax information was collecting dust on her desk. I would not use RBCE ever again! Buyer Beware! read more
