I had passed Lady Janes before but didn't know what to expect from them. One day, it was convenient to go by and I was in need so I walked in (which is not a problem). They have big comfy chairs and TVs for your entertainment. I finally got a haircut I really liked. I didn't feel like I was being rushed out or turned over too quickly. Stylist was pleasant to talk to and down to earth. Since then, I have been back 3 times, a new stylist every time. Each one has done a great job. The cut I want, cut well, pleasant to talk too, didn't feel like they were rushing me out. It's the only place I'm going to now.

Their barbers are able to give me the exact haircuts I describe each time, and they also make good recommendations when asked. In fact, I went to WiseMen right before a friend's wedding and I asked one of their barbers to try something new, not sure what I would get. I ended up getting the best haircut I have ever gotten in my life! I got plenty of compliments from my new style and I have continued asking for it. Prices are very reasonably and they accept credit cards. WiseMen even throws in a nice shoulder massage at the end of each haircut. Wait times can get very long on weekends, particularly in the late afternoons, so try to go on weekdays or early on weekends if possible. I moved away from Raleigh so I am no longer able to visit their establishment, but I would highly recommend them for men's haircuts.

I was familiar with the area but had never been here before. I decided to be adventurous and give it a shot. The parking lot was packed so I parked in the far back with lots of spaces available! The moment I walked into the barber shop, it felt like a party. The noise level was like a party with music playing, barbers and customers having an awesome time. Great vibe once you settle in! I was asked if I was doing a walk-in and they assigned me to a barber immediately. George was my barber and he did an awesome job. He didn't rush and was very detailed. For $30-40, it's totally worth it. They took care of me and I appreciate the hospitality.

My son told him it didn't even look like his hair was cut, and he told my son he had never cut hair like that before. Oh really? Then why did you cut his hair in the first place if you don't know how to cut it? Second, you charged my son $45 and told him he had to pay in cash. Really? Are you trying to scam a kid? My son is kind enough and since he's never dealt with something like this, he still paid you! But I will make sure to leave a review all over the internet about this!

Jimmy, at Five Points Barber Shop, is one of them. He's been cutting hair for over 30 years, and he has been cutting my hair for about four. If you don't live in Five Points or in downtown Raleigh, you probably want to try to find a barber closer to you due to limited hours. Jimmy works half the day from 7:30-11:30am Monday-Saturday. Walk-ins only. If you get to the shop within those hours, he'll get to you. You should call ahead to make sure he isn't on vacation or to check the current wait. In general, I would avoid 10:30am on a Saturday morning. 7:30-8am in the middle of the week is usually pretty safe. Make sure to bring some cash. Normal haircuts are $12 and Jimmy appreciates tips so he can afford new fishing or skydiving gear. You can get cash at many places in Five Points, including the gas stations and Wells Fargo. Remember to learn how to talk to your barber. Don't just say "a little bit off the top". Memorize your clipper guards or how many inches you want off the top and sides. If you aren't sure what you want, make sure to tell Jimmy that and he'll work with you by cutting a little bit off at a time.
