a display of blueberries and strawberries
    Callie T.

While visiting a classmate in Newberg I was encouraged to support this small produce market for blueberries that were picked that morning from a local farm. You can smell the sweetness of the berries before seeing them! As the produce is seasonal, local, and picked at peak ripeness there is quite a bit of overripe produce on display so make sure to eat or freeze within a few days.

    All for $9.65

Super over priced. Got yelled at for parking when there's no sign telling you where to park or not park. Disorganized all around.

I live in Beaverton, but any time I am out wine tasting in the area I always stop and load up on whatever looks yummy.

They let me know they were wholesale only (though they do sell direct to the public at some farmers markets and their ilk), however they were super nice and suggested I check out Chehelam Flats Farm Market as they stock Van Hevelingen's plants for the spring and summer. Chehelam Flats is open Fridays and Saturdays from 10-5, so when I was in the area last weekend, I excitedly made my way there. They have a couple parking spaces on the side of their building, and as I exited my car, I noticed all their fields of lavender! I had not known that was a big part of this market, but goodness, I sure do love me some lavender. I was greeted by the lovely proprietress who let me know their lavender will be in bloom late June to July, and that they will offer bunches pre-cut or you can cut your own. She was also quick to suggest local businesses and events as I am new to the area and was just all around so kind and charming! Back to the plants, I zeroed in on all the fun and unusual herbs, and quickly had a growing box (okay, two!) of goodies: sweet cicely, variegated lemon balm, variegated society garlic, French sorrel, licorice sweet flag, pink rosemary, eau de cologne mint, yerba Buena, and a Chinese chrysanthemum. They also have plenty more traditional herb offerings, native plants as well as some flowers, not to mention I don't even know how many lavender plants in a variety of sizes. Inside, there were some houseplants, along with many kitchen and home goods: candles, soap and other bath and body items, tea towels, even treats like pate de fruit (a favorite!). They had gorgeous wooden pieces included a rolling pin that a totally fell in love with. You could put together such a lovely gift here! The whole area was just gorgeous and while you should absolutely visit when you can take advantage of fresh lavender, I had a wonderful experience without it. They will also have other plants like tomatoes as the weather warms. I cannot wait to return.

Fern represents Safeway with the utmost respect and honor. This is clearly demonstrated through his smile and willingness to assist customers without fail! He treats each customer as the beautiful individuals that we are, and is utterly genuinely grateful for every customer that steps foot in the Newberg Safeway store. Safeway should be promoting Fern accordingly, and I consider it an obligation for Safeway to pay Fern the highest salary possible according to policy. You will never meet a human being that is more genuine, kind, compassionate, reliable, accountable and knowledgeable than Fern. He does his job with pride, and he does it well! Side Note; It wouldn't hurt Safeway to photograph and use Fern in local advertisement posters, and or commercials! There is just something about him, his whole being, that speaks good, that speaks peace, that speaks truth, that speaks loveliness! Safeway, you had better not take Fern for granted! You have an angel among you.

This little shop is absolutely adorable and full of charm. Most of their products are locally sourced, and you can feel the care that goes into the selection. The cheese and condiment options were phenomenal, truly one of the best curated selections I've seen in the area. They also have a cute wine bar tucked in the back, which adds to the cozy, welcoming atmosphere. The sandwiches and deli items in the case looked so good that I'm already planning to come back for lunch next time I'm in town. Everything looked fresh, high quality, and thoughtfully put together. The staff was friendly, kind, and clearly passionate about what they do. Prices were very reasonable, especially considering the quality of the products. A wonderful little spot with great people and even better cheese, I'll definitely be back to enjoy "good company" in every sense of the name!

We ordered 2 craft cocktails off their well rounded cocktail menu. I love floral cocktails so I ordered a Rose Negroni $12 and my husband ordered a bourbon cocktail Lindsey's Lament $13. For lunch we ordered pimento dip with crackers a SALUMI SANDWICH $14 fennel salami, Fra'Mani mortadella and capicollo. provolone, Mama Lil's peppers, & basil pesto on sourdough bread and a BRIE, HAM, 8 JAM SANDWICH $14 with double crème Brie, Oregon apricot jam, and Fra'Mani sweet apple ham on sour dough bread. Both sandwiches were fresh and delicious. Since we were the only customers on this quiet afternoon, we sat for a while enjoying our cocktails and sandwiches planning our next visit.
