We were offered samples by the cheese maker's husband, who shared the story of their business, her journey from her early days at Cowgirl Creamy in Marin, to starting her own company, & advised us on their offerings. While tasting, we could see straight back into the cheese making facility, with people busy at work. It just doesn't get any closer to the source than that. We enjoyed each Briar Rose cheese we tried, but particularly the Butterbaby, a soft bloomy rind Guernsey cow's milk cheese, and their sweet, tangy, spreadable formage blanc. I wish they had been tasting their semi-soft cheese washed in Riesling and wrapped in Spruce bark, called Strapping Evelyn, but it wasn't available to sample the day we stopped by. We picked up several cheeses to take home. A must for anyone who likes an authentic farm stand experience.
