We needed someone to haul a bunch of junk ASAP, so we reached out to Ray via Yelp, then he responded quickly requesting pictures of the junk and to send them to him via email. Took pictures of the junk, sent them to Ray via email, received a quote, and set up a time and date for pick up. He showed up promptly at 11am as scheduled with another man with a huge empty dump trailer, and they finished loading the dump trailer in 47 minutes. Some of the pictures didn't show the appliances in the boxes, so he had to change the quote, which is understandable. Our quote was $450, and he ended up paying $650 due to extra bookshelves, suitcases, meat cutter, and a kitchen hood (he said it's due to the space in the trailer, which totally makes sense). He was going to charge us $27 for an old microwave due to the fees he would have to pay and showed me a receipt. Ray seems to be a very honest man, and I appreciated him showing me the fees required to taken certain items like a microwave. So, I decided to keep the old microwave to take to Pleasant Hill Recycling for free. Can I just say how amazing Ray and team are? They helped us yesterday and might I add that part of our haul included a really old heavy piano? How wonderful to support these folks! I talked and msged with Ray the end of last week and we worked out $190 (they take check, cash, charge, Zelle, or PayPal) for two couches. He answered his phone and replied to yelp and text msgs quite promptly. He said he could be by the next day but I felt a weekday worked better for us, he didn't mind and was accommodating. I think when booking with them it's important to remain flexible so he gave me a window from (10am-12pm) which is better than Comcast or PG&E, ammirite? lol He also didn't mind receiving a text with my details the day of and made sure to contact me (yey, he didn't forget) early that morning in advance so we could keep our appointment! I'm so happy because my last experience with a hauling company resulted in a no show, no call, no nothing. So Ray really helped restore my faith in this industry :) Ray and his companion, also named Ray, actually decided to come early and I only got a 30 min heads up, but you know, I got my a** up faster than I do for a midnight booty call and put on my farmer hat and mask and met them outside because when Ray say he comin, you bes be reaaaady lol Anywho, he texted me he'd be at my house in 15min at 9am, and he did exactly that. When they arrived, one of the Rays asked if we wanted them to haul off other things he saw in a pile near the couches, so it ended up totaling $220 with some more mats, a broken coffee table, and a couple misc things lying around. They were pretty in and out. My husband and I helped carry the rest of the stuff down our long driveway but they really didn't want us to. I even insisted to carry down the couches to their truck but they didn't let us and insisted on doing what they came there to do! :) Everything was done in about 10-15mins (maybe less, I stopped counting at that point)? I then went inside to get my checkbook to pay them and while they were patiently waiting, my husband chatted up one of the Rays and he told him that he was from Fiji and they had a nice conversation about the details of each other's cultures (hubby is also not from the states and I include details like this because the swapping of personal narratives in times of mundanity, reminds us that we are above all human, a fact that can shatter the boundaries that confine a business exchange with real life, something we can all benefit from experiencing). That Ray also mentioned that the other Ray (are you following? lol), is getting married this week and it'll be a big festive wedding, so BIG congrats to the Rays! :) Then I paid them and they went on their "merry" way lol read more
