HORRIBLE!!! As my husband and I have been doing for TWO YEARS at Rays, I was cashing in cans. The lady in front of me was shaking the buckets because it was filling up. She still had a WHOLE BASKET TO GO! So knowing EXACTLY what was coming next, and because it usually takes them a minute, (Carol, Kelly, nice big guy), I went in to give them a heads up. None of them were there so I told the cashier. He was NASTY! NASTY', NASTY! From the jump! His response was her name, NASTILY! Told me he's emptied it 8 times today! NASTILY! Said they know how to take care of it! NASTILY! I tried to tell him that I know that, and that was not what I was saying. (Still not pissed at this point because I've not seen this guy before and everyone else is a GEM!!!) He says, oh!? It wasn't! NASTILY! He said they'd take care of it!Ushering, BY LEAVING HIS CHECK STAND AND LITERALLY FORCING ME BACK OUTSIDE! W. T. F....,? He cut me off on everything and wouldn't let me say anything!I told him I know because I come here all the time. My past experiences at the Deli at Ray's Food Place had always been positive. This time however the sandwich I ordered was a disaster. I managed to choke down on half but threw the other half away. I was a basic ham and Swiss cheese on marbled rye bread. The condiments were to be lettuce,tomatoes,pickles ,mustard and mayonnaise . The bread was thin like it had been frozen and not thawed correctly, there was so much condiments that it actually soaked through to the outside of the bread. the ham was two thin slices that was out of a package and not sliced in house. The only reason I didn't refuse it was that I drove to a nearby park to sit outside to eat and didn't open it until then. Never will I use that deli again. TERRIBLE read more

So today, September 12th. Me and my father decided to go to rays. We got inside, my father went to the back to get something he wanted, and i was still at the beginning of the store looking at a little stand that had chips on it! This very disrespectful lady that was working asked me after she got done checking someone out if I needed help with anything, she said it VERY SNARKY though like i was a thief or something. I said no thank you, i'm just patiently waiting on my father. She replies back with : "oh yeah, okay" My father comes back with beer ok, we got up to the cash register and she was checking us out. She ALSO RUDELY asked for an ID, don't get me wrong, when someone buys beer i understand it's the law and policy of stores to ask for proof of age ! but she scanned the alcohol and asked for MY ID specifically thinking it was for me, so i told her it was not for me, and I understand she probably didn't believe that, but if i wanted it, I WOULD HAVE GRABBED IT MYSELF. The other reason why she asked for it was because i was paying for it. I haven't seen my dad for years and today was the day i seen him so i wanted to pay for everything. I would have not wrote this if this wasn't an issue. Having to deal with a snarky women who was very disrespectful and had an attitude for absolutely no reason that worked there especially was not it. She also just assumed i was underage too. I am completely perplexed as to how a place like this stays open. Their prices are considerably more expensive than all of the bigger market chains, yet they have plenty of loyal customers. I mean, I get when you're the only game in town; in places such as Merlin, or Kirby, or wherever, but in Phoenix? Just drive five minutes north to Winco. I get paying more for a "cleaner" market ambiance like Albertson's and Fred Meyer do, but Ray's? I don't get it! Clean, well-organized and the main reason why I'm dropping by to give a review is because I want to compliment the international food section. I like how it is organized by country and there seems to be a decent variety, which is more than you would expect from a grocery store in a smaller community and sometimes more than you can expect from a big store. Like most people have said - some of the options feel a bit pricy, compared to other places, but I do like to shop here and I am thankful Ray's is in Phoenix. read more

It is a beautiful clean store but very over priced. I recently moved to the area and was happy a nice store was so close by but due to the prices I drive up the road to Medford. The few times I've ran in to get one or two things it appeared I was the only customer in the store. I don't know how they can stay open. If you shop here-know you are paying more for nearly every single item. I price compare hundreds of items and track them. Even the generic store brand items are more expensive. The sales are poor and often in alignment with other stores standard prices. The employees are all very helpful and kind. If you can shop elsewhere; do so. read more

The assistant manager Mario is so awesome!! Great customer service, very polite. We appreciated it when my kids had a lemonade stand he kindly had to ask us to move back further from the door because it was a fire hazard. He offered to help move all of our stuff, and I thought that was so nice! read more

I've been waiting to write my review because of all the "not so good" reviews Rays has had in the past. I can walk to this store from my home, so being close is a plus. When you first go into the store it's like a throwback to the 80's on theme. Very traditional store decor with the huge lettering identifying the section of the store. They have a decent selection of goods and a fairly large produce section with organic choices as well. The employees have always been super friendly to me. I've never gotten anyone that was creepy or weird. Just local people working to make a living. The store is clean- they have a fresh butcher area and it's well maintained. There's a Wells Fargo mini branch here inside too. They have a video/DVD rental place on the produce side with fresh flowers and a little gift area. I've lived near this store for 3 years now and it's nice to have it so close when I don't want to drive to Medford. The only drawback is prices. They are more expensive and you pay for convenience. If they weren't so expensive then they would get more of my major shopping business . I go here for a quick gallon of milk or organic produce. They have good sales occasionally and I get emails letting me know. Overall I don't have anything bad to say about this local store that really does try to make a good impression on the community. read more

Better prices than Shop Smart in the Roseburg area but about the same as going to Albertsons! $2 for tortilla chips, $3.50 for lays potato chips, pepsi max was super expensive though, $3 for storebrand soda, salad was 2 for $5. Had a nice sit down area for the deli! They had a large movie rental section by customer service with decent prices which is a huge plus since theres no Redbox in Phoenix or Talent! Really big store! The bathrooms were nice and clean! I just used the restroom so cant judge customer service. :P The locals in the store werent as bad as I thought they would be considering what walks up and down HWY 99 in front of the store. read more

The newly renovated floors are beautiful. The people there have always been super nice in the 20 years I've been shopping there. But the new "by the pound" food buffet (a deli addition), is what's going to make me a regular....It's delicious and I can serve myself and weigh it too before paying! Big seller point for me. It offers all my favorites, Multiple Asian Entrees and sides, Ray's Original Fried Chicken as well as Ray's Baked Chicken, Jo Jo's, Macaroni n Cheese and many more quick pick hot and cold meal items. Great move Ray's Going to miss those nice "Meat People" though. read more

I rarely feel the need to leave a review, and when I do, it is usually positive. However, this is an absolutely awful grocery store and it is such a shame. I feel like, being the only grocery store in Phoenix, the owners feel okay overcharging and keeping expired and rotten food in the store. They recently remodeled the store, and it does look better, but the quality of the food is still just terrible. We try to avoid shopping here, but when we do not have time to go into Medford, we have to diligently check expiration dates and deal with ludicrous prices. I have seen molding meat, expired food (including baby food), and rotting produce. The one positive is that the employees are very friendly, but that does not make up for all the negatives. I sincerely hope management makes changes, because at this point, I just hope the store closes and a larger chain picks up the space. read more

The 2 stars are for the very nice people that work at Ray's. On another note, how is this place still open?! Ray's is so ridiculously overpriced. I strive to support my local businesses, but I can't spend twice as much on groceries to shop at Ray's because it's close to my house. I would like to explain why I am reviewing this chain store, as it's generally not my style. I live near by this store, about the same distance to the South Fred Meyers and I frequent it, less than the Freddies, but at least once a week. I'm writing this review because I am a sandwich fiend. I crave the perfect sandwich, and it's very clear what the perfect sandwich is, in my head. Ray's delivers. While otherwise really expensive (way more expensive than any other grocery store, rarely ever having sales), kinda dim and creepy inside, and with exceptionally irritating and unprofessional employees, their sandwiches are perfection. At least the way I like them. They don't skimp on the veggies, especially the sprouts, like many other grocery store deli's or sandwich shops might, and they also don't charge extra for anything. You get what you order, which in my case, is the best way to eat a sandwich: just how you like it. I know I sound like a crazy person rambling about the perfect sandwich, but it exists, and it exists here in this otherwise strange location. Be aware: the cashiers are really loud and persistent to get you to talk, even if you're a quiet and quick person like I am. Also extra points for carrying strange and off the wall items like Gold Hill Sweet Tea and experimenting with new cold beverages. read more

They should close this one with the rest of them it is absolutely useless the staff is helpless they sent me in three circles not knowing or product was and then they didn't even have the product. Extremely disappointed and disgusted. I live close to this Rays location and will go out of my way to drive to Medford whenever I am in need of something-- rather than going to Rays. Out of the 5 times I've needed something quickly and raced to Rays out of convenience of the location, I've ended up expired products. And not just a few days expired, but by quite a few months (5 months has been the oldest item I have found that has been expired). There are a couple elderly cashiers who are rude. Today, Cathy was complaining about bagging my groceries. Having been to the business school in Ashland I know bad customer service when I see it. Embarrassing me in front of other customers is not a "customer is always right attitude". Another cashier criticized me for buying gifts for my mother at Ray's last month. I thought Ray's might want to know some of their elderly cashiers try to dictate how much customers buy (not in Ray's favor). I am not so much writing a review for the store in general but for the bakery. I have gotten multiple cakes made there and i cannot express how amazing the prices, quality and service is when it comes to these cakes. The woman who makes these cakes is the sweetest, most talented elderly lady i've ever met. She went above an beyond for my daughters 1st birthday cake. She made the cutest pink, grey and black camo cake for me with all the fixin's like candles, plastic balloons, and a cupcake on top free of charge for my daughter to have her own little something.
