We got the sour cream, maple bacon, and apple fritter. Our order came with free donut holes! The maple bacon was our fave, and my bf says it's probably the best of this type that he's eaten. We also liked the donut holes, and worth a good comparison with other donut places since we didn't order the classic glaze. Got the chance to finally try this place out after the arrival of our new baby and it was really quite good. We got the half dozen and tried 6 different flavors. I'm currently eating the chocolate crumb cake one and even though I bought it less than 24 hrs and it was kept in a sealed container I did have to microwave it for 15 seconds to bring it back to freshness. Life-changing donuts! So good! Like, if everyone in the world could have a Ray's donut, we would find the solution to world peace good. My favorites are the apple fritter and the maple bacon. I do not normally like cake donuts, but I love Ray's. I've never met a donut I didn't like at Ray's. Don't bother sampling a glazed donut. They provide free glazed donut holes with each purchase, so save that sacred donut slot for another flavor. Plus, I will begrudgingly admit that Krispy Kreme does a better glazed donut. However, my family has not seen the inside of a Krispy Kreme, Dunkin' Donuts, or Sublime since we discovered Ray's. So why life-changing? Average Donuts with Annoying Customer Service! First of all, there were not many selections to chose from. Secondly, the donuts weren't fresh at all. They looked old and have been on the shelf for several hours... I was the only customer in the shop (unlike the picture you see on the other review that people were waiting in a long queue). I bought two maple bacon donuts and one blueberry fritter and one strawberry and cream cheese donut. They all tasted average, nothing special or spectacular. The blueberry fritter was over-fried and very hard to bite. I thought this shop will give complimentary donut holes for every order and the cashier said that she already put two in my bag. Then she was complaining that other customers want more free donut holes and she only gives out four donut holes (the most) for the order of a dozen donuts. She doesn't have enough donut holes to give out for free! The bad attitude that she shown and the way she talked about the donut holes that she gave out is just laughable. I left the shop and I checked the donuts in the bag and I saw no donut hole in the bag at all. She lied about gave me "2" donut holes! The customers will more likely to return if you make them happy and provide good customer service. Obviously, this cashier doesn't get it. This is my first time at Ray's and also is my last time. This has to be my favorite donut place in Atlanta. For starters, the owner and staff are always super nice. They have long lines and remain pleasant and provide great customer service. These are perhaps, the BEST donuts that I have ever eaten in my life! Ray's Donuts is a little hole in the wall (like all good donut shops) that keeps fresh, albeit rapidly decreasing, stock on the wall from open to close. The glazed raised donuts (which are the standard any donut shop should be tested on) were amazing. They are all at once light, crispy, sweet with substantial mouth feel. Completely non-greasy with a light sugary glaze. These are beautiful works of pastry art. The iced tea was excellent as well! Mercifully unsweetened after the sugar rush of the donuts! Finally Georgia has yummy donuts. Besides Hot Krispy Kreme donuts, I haven't found any worth the extra calories. This is a family owned business and they are managed well, friendly and remember the faces of there regular customers. They still add new donuts to the menu. I don't think I've found any donuts her I don't like. First on my list is the Blueberry Fritter, then either of the sour cream donuts. The strawberry iced donut tastes like real strawberries. No fake or overly processed ingredients here, everything tastes natural n fresh. My husband likes the maple bacon donut. And their croissants melt in your mouth. If you like donuts or you don't you will like rays donuts. I always get good service here and the donuts are made daily. They also have so many different variations of donuts it will make your head spin. $5.00 for a 1/2 dozen and $8.50 for a dozen and they throw in free donut holes. I got the 1/2 dozen today and they gave me 6 donut holes so some of these people are full of crap with their "facts" on 2 with 6 donuts. Act kind if you want to be treated kind. They don't upcharge for fritters or cinnamon rolls or bear claws. They have blueberry, strawberry or apple bear claws. These donuts are the best! Take a back seat Krispy Kreme and Dunkin' Donuts.
