I have been going to Raymond's Turkey Farm for years. And I mean years. We order our turkey for Thanksgiving every year and wait in line, well if you've been there, you know the drill. Hurry up and wait. But...the turkey is well worth waiting for. Juicy, tender delicious. I've read some other reviews for Raymond's and I think there are more factors involved than just blaming Raymond's for the way their turkey turned out. Overcooking, under buying the size, etc. In all the years I have never got a turkey that was dry and tough as other describe. I go during the year and buy turkey pies, but my favorite are their chicken pies. They don't always have them, so if you are interested, call ahead. They slice the chicken which I love. I think the slicing allows for more chicken in the pie than cubes. I want a chicken pie, not a gravy pie. The turkey is the same. Jam packed with turkey. I keep several in the freezer especially in the Winter. There are very few placed that have good turkey and chicken pies. Trust me, I've tried them all. They also sell sliced cold turkey, turkey salad, al the typical Thanksgiving sides, turkey meatballs, meatloaf, shepherd's pie, soups, turkey burgers, turkey sausage and various turkey parts. This is a place well worth trying, and if you go at holiday time make sure you are ready to hurry up and wait. They can't help that they are slammed with business at that time of year. read more

I went to Raymond's for the first time in a long time this week and was disappointed. First, the woman behind the counter took her sweet time finishing her chat with a previous customer, whom she knew, while I stood there with my hands freezing from holding turkey burgers. So customer service was poor. Second, the burgers were very full of dark blotches which were probably organ meat and other waste. They tasted awful. The were also spoiled; they shot out of me like a fire drill. Finally, be aware that turkey can cause a gout attack, as I learned, and I had to seek medical care as a result. I don't hold them responsible for that; this is just a warning to all. What a horrible experience ... will never return. read more

I know that the people that work there must be overworked and underpaid but the few times that I've been there they always have no smile, lack of personality and they're rude. I can't believe a week before Thanksgiving. They have no turkey to buy zero yeah, I know supply chain problem blah blah blah. While I've not had their turkeys, I have had their turkey pot pies. They are delicious. The individual ones are plenty for one person, and well filled with turkey, peas, and carrots. Crust is buttery and flaky. I love these pies so much that I often have them brought to me by visiting family. Staff at Raymond's is quite friendly and helpful. I need to start off by saying that this year was my first time ordering a whole turkey for Thanksgiving from Raymond's. I had considered it in years past, but with the issues going on these days I thought I would finally try it. I called near the end of September to order a turkey and I was given instructions to come by the week of the holiday to pick it up. I drove by on Monday 11/23 but the pouring rain convinced me to wait considering the line that was already present enduring the harsh conditions. Today, 11/24, I arrived at the farm around 9am with probably 400 people standing in line, waiting their turn to go into the shop. Despite the cold and wind, the sun was shining and everyone waiting seemed happy to be there. After 90 minutes or so, my turn in the shop awaited and I gave the friendly lady my name, but unfortunately my information couldn't be found. After a few moments, and without hesitation, the great lady behind the counter (and protective glass - Covid) took my information again and asked what size bird I needed. Within seconds, a 23 pound turkey was given to me and I was directed to the next window to pay. Thank you Raymond's for a wonderful experience! For those needing a new 'New England' adventure, this is the place to be at this time of year! The turkey I purchased is hands down the most amazing turkey that has ever occupied my fridge. I actually haven't had the food there yet. But, we have ordered food and also had to call in with a question regarding our order. Both times we have been snapped at. I'm sure they are stressed during the holidays, but, they need to learn how to treat customers. My family doesn't have very many traditions anymore, but going Raymond's Turkey Farm a day or two before Thanksgiving all together to fetch our bird is one that I can't see dying anytime soon. Raymond's turkeys are absolutely amazing. A farm-fresh turkey is so tender and tastes like no bird I have ever gotten from the grocery store. It is more expensive than a standard turkey (around $3/lb vs. $.25/lb), but totally worth it. By the way, these birds have actually stood on their legs and walked around, so they have HUGE drumsticks and thigh meat. The farm is family-owned and you can tell they take pride in what they do and care about their animals. You can see the birds roaming around the farmland in the off season, you know they have a better life than most turkeys. Around Thanksgiving it is quite hectic, people queue in long but fast-moving lines, the cops have to come out to direct traffic. There are a couple of huge live birds they put in a cage right outside the entrance so you can see how ugly turkeys really are and feel less bad for eating them. Pose for requisite photo-op here. Raymond's carries prepared trimmings as well, we usually buy some squash because its such a pain in the ass to make at home. Also, they carry chickens and turkeys all year round, so you don't have to wait until November for the goodness. read more

I can't tell you how proud I am to have a business like Raymonds Turkey Farm in the Valley and only hope others will follow suit I adore this place. The meat is top drawer. The pot pies, the lasagna are all excellent. We get a turkey there almost every Thanksgiving. The only place to get meat if you are an avid locavore One thing people don't know is that they also roast and stuff 1/2 turkeys and whole chickens during the off season. You may want to call ahead for this This is a FABULOUS and delicious way to entertain. If you want a fresh killed turkey, this is the place to come. I have a hard time with this, but other people love it. I personally won't order one, but I will eat one if someone else orders it. It's pricey here, but you have to order in advance so they can kill the turkey the day or morning before your planned pick up. They also sell tons of sides such as mashed potatoes, pot pies, and stuffing- all frozen for future use. Everything is tasty. read more

I like to support small family-run businesses and it pains me to give one a bad review, but we had a poor experience with Raymond's roasted turkey (and the stuffing+gravy that it comes with). We are new to the area and wanted to find a quality turkey for Thanksgiving, and some research led me to Raymond's. Turkey is serious business in our house. We decided to "audition" Raymond's turkeys, so for a weekend dinner I ordered a 1/2 stuffed bird, roasted fresh (to save myself a bit of work), with a pint of gravy along side. The verdict? Unfortunately I haven't a clue how the bird tastes because it was so overcooked it we could only eat a few bites. Any flavor the bird might have once had was completely destroyed. Raymond's apparently cooks turkeys every day of the year, so I was prepared to chalk it up to a one-off error, but then I looked at their roasting instructions on the website...nope, not a mistake. They recommend cooking their birds to a temperature of 185 degrees!!! Anyone who knows the first thing about cooking turkey knows that this not just overcooked, but stupendously overcooked (according to the USDA a turkey is safe at 165 degrees). And of course, consider that when the thigh has reached 185 the breast is probably around 200--yikes!! That explains the beef-jerky-like texture. Perhaps their uncooked birds are great; I plan to give one a try another time, and I will gladly revise my review if we have a good experience with that. And clearly, Raymond's does not need my business, gathering from the other reviews here. Maybe dry turkey is a local taste. But really, if you possess the slightest amount of discernment regarding turkey, beware of having them roast one for you, and please, for the love of the turkey that died for your enjoyment, do not follow their roasting instructions! A side note about the stuffing and the gravy--the stuffing was a mass of sodden bread with no flavor or texture. The gravy did not have great turkey flavor, which is unforgivable considering the place is swamped with turkey parts and drippings. Do yourself a favor and learn how to make a decent gravy from your pan drippings. Even a complete newbie can do so much better than this. read more

About ten years ago, my family moved two hours north of Raymond's. And every year, still, we throw a huge cooler in the back of the truck, and head down there. My favorites are the Turkey Chop Suey and the Pot Pies. I will not eat a Pot Pie unless it's from Raymond's. Seriously. Marie Callendar just can't touch these guys. They don't fuss over vegetables, there's just good meat and gravy in there. I go for the mixed white and dark meat - but if breast is your thing they have just white, and if you prefer the thighs they have just dark. The crust is delicious and flaky - so delicious that my sister and I still fight over who gets the bigger piece. You know what else is fun? Going in the silo and talking, shouting, whispering, or making other noises... and listening to them echo and echo. And the fact that they dye turkeys in pastel colors for Easter slightly disturbs me. But you don't eat the feathers anyway, right? Gobble Gobble! read more

Raymond's turkey is delicious. Fed my family of four the frozen turkey dinner that comes with gravy and stuffing. Also purchased the squash, and mashed potatoes. We all loved every bite. Even my picky kid loved everything and the baby loved every spoonful! Can't wait to to try the turkey burgers and turkey pot pies waiting in my freezer. Raymond's Turkey Farm has the best turkey, turkey pies, stuffing and gravy. My family and I have been going there for years. Having said that, I was disappointed in the customer service I received over the phone. I asked to order 4 quarts of stuffing and 2 quarts of gravy eight days before Thanksgiving. My daughter went there the day before and all they had was pints. The girl on the phone was short with me and when I explained to her, my daughter was told all quarts were being used up for pre orders, she cut me off and said, "You have to buy what is in the freezer." I then asked will you have quarts before Thanksgiving, her reply was, "I don't know." I understand this time of year is stressful, but there is no need for rudeness in customer service. Raymond's Turkey Farm just gave us our best Thanksgiving ever. We were traveling back into town to celebrate with our family, and wanted to focus on our time together--not on cooking. A few weeks before the holiday, I called up Raymond's Turkey Farm for recommendations. With their friendly assistance, I reserved a pre-roasted stuffed turkey breast, extra stuffing,and gravy. While picking it up, I also got all of the other sides needed for a perfect Thanksgiving: turnips, mashed potatoes, squash, and cranberry sauce. This made for a Thanksgiving feast that was as easy as popping the turkey in the oven and microwaving everything else. And to boot--it was AMAZING. Everyone commented that the turkey was the moistest and delicious that they have ever tried. Raymond's, I will always come back to you for my Thanksgiving needs! read more

Second year in a row my bird is FROZEN! I questioned it when I picked it up, and was told it was just really cold and had been packed in ice and had to be kept at 33 degrees for them to keep them without preservatives. We use Raymonds every every every year for Thanksgiving... their turkeys are so juicy and tasty.... so... today .. my wife wanted to have some Turkey Thighs... SO... Called for some Turkey thighs ... and they accomodated my request... they actually killed the turkey TODAY and we had fresh Thighs... NOW that is service ... so we went to pick up the package.. and .. we noticed ALL their frozen items... my wife picked out the Turkey rice and barley soup... (which we bought) ... and .. brought it home and defrosted... and wella.... she and I enjoyed the soup... it was delicious and surely will be back for the soup and of course will visit for Thanksgiving... BUT what is nice is you can call them and they will actually slaughter.... a fresh turkey and that day you can pick it up and have some FRESH TURKEY... no wonder they have been in business for years and years.. that is called Customer satisfaction... and serving the needs of the customer.... and it is clean and Fresh....
