Everything was great at first-communication, timing. We signed our proposal which went up $200 from our original quote after he climbed onto the roof to get measurements. When he started the project and started taking the shingles off, told us our price was going to go up because he didn't realize there was 2 layers of shingles on it. (I'm not a roofer but I would have thought a professional should have seen/felt the thickness or difference of 1 layer vs 2 layers). We said ok-he didn't give us a price at that time as to how much more money it would have been. Once everything was removed he came to us and told us it would be an additional $1500 because of the second layer needing to come off. That was way more than we thought it would have been. After we all came to an agreement as to what we would be paying we gave him half of the due amount. Work was completed by "his crew" that showed up the next day with another roofing name on their company vehicle. They did a great job laying the new shingles, their cleanup was beyond my expectations. They left. Doug came back to get the remaining payment and proceeded to tell us it would be an additional $200. I told him absolutely not-we resigned our contract after we all came to an agreement and now he wanted even more money. Never again will I use him, as a "professional" roofer-he should have inspected for 2 layers of shingles and had his numbers correct before constantly trying to get more money from us.

Of the four contractors contacted, Wesly responded quickly and was at our house the next day asking all the right questions. we also discussed two other projects, more in just passing, but interested in what she would come back with. Within a day, she came back with a series of quotes, one for the stair job we needed, which was very reasonable and for a design that worked very well. Her team showed up the next day and were efficient and very detailed. Our three step project was done in a day and looked great! Although we told Wesly the price on the other patio resurface project was a bit more than we were ready to take on, didn't stop her from finding another option that cut the cost using a ceramic tile that offered better wear, more color options and a design that better matched our house. We could afford that! We were also able to redo a ghastly concrete step from our den that a prior owner bought at Home Depot and dumped in place. Wasn't to code either. The Team was back out and did a marvelous job! They were there three days, morning to late evening getting the job done. The result updated the back of our house, the slate and brick step off the den was to code and the patio was comfortable to walk on and made my wife's patio set look really good. My experience with American Remodeling started at the Corvettes of Carlisle show where a…read moresalesperson gave me a flyer for discount. We had been talking about remodeling our main bathroom shower for years, and finally decided to pursue the job with this company. We thought "Bald Nick" as he called himself, was a fairly good salesperson, and so we signed a contract with the company thinking we were going to get a great product, a good construction crew (not subs but their own staff) and we would be thrilled with the outcome. Well, the crew was great and did a very professional job all the way through. But what we ordered and what we got are night and day, and we totally are disappointed with the end result. We talked about a white base for the shower, but then I told "B. Nick" that no we wanted it to match the beautiful colored walls that we chose. We needed to look at the fine print on the contract. And the crew worked with the door closed, bringing items in from the garage to the bathroom so we didn't see the white base until the walls were all installed. We ordered a rain drop glass shower door that would open wide like our previous door so at our ages we could be prepared for a shower chair and wheelchair access at the outside of the shower. No, they didn't tell us they didn't have it and the crew began to install a sliding clear glass door that would have been horrible. Luckily we caught that just after the installed the metal rails. They took the rails out, filled the holes so they could still be seen, and left after a conversation with the York office team. And the crew told us our door couldn't be ordered and we'd have to accept what they had. No way for a job that cost over $20,000!!! So the Corporate contact said yes the door could be ordered, and we would have it within a week. We have another shower to use so that was not an issue. But then the company had the crew drive almost 2 hours to go to Lowes, pick up a shower bar, shower curtain and clips to put in our shower for the week until the door appeared. Low and behold the door we got has the raindrop but it is not a wide door, but one on swivel hinges and extends almost a foot into the shower itself when it opens. Again, not what we were presented when "B. Nick" was selling us the product, not what we saw in his materials, and not what he guaranteed when he looked at our old shower set up that we would have in the new door. Another "bait and switch" contractor, another very disappointing experience. Do we like what we have now..... of course as it is an improvement. Do we love what we have now to give a five star rating to this company? Absolutely not. Beware and check every piece of materials you believe you have ordered before it gets installed. Again, our installer crew was fabulous. But it was not what we ordered, and not what we wanted in the end.
