Our family is moving away from Chicago after 4 years and what we are most sad about (by far) is having to pull our daughter out of Rayito de Sol. If we could give it 6 stars we would. When she first started at Rayito at 4 months old, we felt like bad parents for "shipping her off" to daycare. It didn't take long for those concerns to transform into feelings of gratitude for the professionalism and genuine care Rayito provides our little girl every day.
Margot is excited to arrive every morning. She is stimulated throughout the day, fed quality food, plays with her peers, and learns the STEAM curriculum - all in Spanish! We love getting the updates throughout the day on the app - Rayito provides constant pictures and videos, updates on her diaper changes, what she is eating and how much, her temperature, etc. We also love seeing the variety of crafts she works on based on the theme of the week.
She loves the whole staff, especially Ms. Malvi and Ms. Fatima - we couldn't ask for better people to care for our daughter. They have always worked closely with us as parents on keeping a consistent routine (align naps at the same time) and what they are focusing on working on with her (for example, patience). The progress reports we receive are excellent, as are the parent/teacher conferences - we know exactly how she is progressing in all areas at all times.
The language barrier has not been an issue. Neither my wife nor I speak Spanish, but that hasn't been a problem. Our daughter isn't even 2 years old yet and knows Spanish better than we do! She only wants to watch Sesame Street in Spanish or her new favorite YouTube videos, Pica Pica. Even though she speaks Spanish most of the time, that's not to say her English has suffered at all. She is equal or ahead of all the other children we've met her age in English as well, there hasn't been any downside.
Now that we're leaving, we need to find a way to keep her Spanish going. But if for some reason we can't, studies show that if she goes back to learning Spanish later in life, it will be easier for her because of her time at Rayito de Sol.
We have nothing but positive things to say about Rayito de Sol in Chicago. If a location ever opens up in the Boston area, we will be the first customers. We want to thank the whole Rayito staff, especially Suzy, Fatima, Sara, and Malvi - you have made such an impact on Margot's life and you will be dearly missed. read more
