She looks forward to school each day. When she was younger, she went through some health issues that required some extra steps in caring for her. Newport was absolutely lovely during this difficult time. The teachers, staff, and in particular John the owner worked with us so that she could still attend school. We've become part of the community, doing play dates with her school friends outside of school, meeting other parents and families. Her teachers know her, and we can always talk to them about challenging "growing up" things like potty training and nap transitions, and I feel like we tackle them together. There may be wait lists...but honestly that's the situation with daycares in the city. It's definitely worth adding Newport to the list of daycares to tour and consider!

Once we started at Kids' Work, we realized what we'd been missing. The staff is incredible. Every person we've met has been friendly, enthusiastic, and genuinely seems happy to be there. You can tell management supports their team because the teachers never seem stressed or burned out. It's comforting to know that positive energy trickles down to the kids too. Our son is always so excited to see his teachers and classmates. Every one of his teachers has been warm and knowledgeable--the kind of people who truly love working with children. Leidy, Dina, and Desire were wonderful in the infant room, and he absolutely adores his current toddler teachers, Sydney, Monica, and Ana. He talks about them constantly. We get consistent, clear communication from his teachers about everything that happens in the classroom. They sincerely celebrate milestones with us, and whenever we face challenges, they are quick to ask questions, troubleshoot, and share tips as appropriate. The curriculum is excellent. Music and Spanish teachers come into the classroom weekly, and every day is full of creative projects and plenty of outside time. The facilities are always clean, organized, and filled with high-quality toys. The admin team has also been incredibly helpful whenever we've had questions or concerns. For example, when we were worried about our son's transition to the toddler room, Lindsey took time to reassure us and share resources to make sure he was ready. Their advice was spot on--he thrived in the new environment immediately. Last but absolutely not least, the level of organization at Kids' Work is impressive. Everything from sick policies to daily classroom schedules is well thought out, clearly communicated, and consistent. Nothing slips through the cracks with this team--and everyone is safer, healthier, and more sane because of it. We feel lucky to have found this place. After our child who was two at the time started attending, we started receiving negative feedback from the instructor to the point of that an ASQ was assessed on our child, which the instructor did not adequately complete or comprehend the work provided by the instructor, and suggested that they would need early intervention and behavioral help. My wife and I took our child to get an professional assessment which our child passed with flying colors and we were told by the evaluator that they did not understand why the instructor would suggest what she did on the ASQ (which the instructor wasn't certified to make that assumption per DCFS). We pulled our child out of Kids Work and placed them into a Montessori which the teachers stated that our child has excelled in the areas of reading, mathematical and social comprehension. Our child is also working with the older students on activities and assignments and is a social butterfly that communicates well beyond her age. I will not discredit the entire staff but the main instructor in the Lincoln classroom was the main concern and should be addressed including one of the administrative assistants who disregarded all of our concerns.

Our first child has been at the school since they turned 13 months old (now 4 years old) and our second since infancy (now two). We've loved all of the teachers that our kids have had and appreciate the continuity (teacher turn over is very low compared to most centers). The kids stay active throughout the day and they have access to different outdoor playgrounds (different play lots for the younger versus older kiddos). There is also an annex room that can be used for indoor play during the colder months. The teachers set up the most wonderful art projects - I'm always amazed at their creativity and energy! The communication has been great with the teachers - we had trouble with our eldest napping at school but we worked with the teachers to try a few strategies we use at home and significantly improved the number of nap days (which makes for a nicer kid at the end of the day). The front staff is great as well - everyone is welcoming and will get to know your kiddo by name. The school has clear COVID-19 protocols (which I like) - they follow Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and CDC guidelines. If they didn't follow IDPH guidelines they could risk losing their license. The school is also very diverse and does a lot to support the community. I whole heartedly recommend Concordia - this recommendation comes from a parent of two children who attend, a person who worked at a private daycare for seven years, and a graduate of an elementary education program. I know I am sending my kids to a warm, supportive, structured and fun environment.

Our son began as an infant in the Butterfly room, then transitioned to the Owl room as he became a toddler, and now is in the Tiger room as pre-school. The Director Ms. Sandy, and all of the teachers and staff are truly excellent: they teach with a full curriculum of activities and knowledge. Our son has learned numbers, the alphabet, planets and solar system, the lifecycle of a frog, the lifecycle of a butterfly, dental health, different professions like firefighters, doctors, and so many things! The teachers and staff are all kind, caring, extremely professional, and communicate very well. We receive constant updates of the art projects, classroom activities, and every detail of the day. They share with us exactly what they eat for each meal and snack, when they use the bathroom, and any special items that occur, like kids bringing in cupcakes for birthdays. They use the Tadpoles app to post many downloadable pictures and videos each day, so we are always in touch and aware of our child's feelings and activities. We've taken field trips to museums, the zoo, a local firehouse, and various play areas! Each day there are activities, art projects, and a full update of videos and pictures from the day. There are also special family events, such as a block party, family picnic, grandparents day, lizard show visits, and activities for holidays. One of our son's favorite activities is Music Class with Mr. Ray, it is the highlight of each week! Mr. Ray spends time in all of the classrooms, brings in rhythm sticks and instruments, and teaches songs and dances according to the week's theme. He is very talented and great with children, and they all love his visits. We've also seen Mr. Ray at special events they host, such as a summer block party and winter cabin fever events. He really is excellent and so talented! Tiny Giants and all of the staff are highly recommended!
