As a parent I appreciate the dedication of the staff. Over half the teachers have been at the center for a minimum 3 years. The low turnover speaks volumes about both the owners as well as the commitment and the relationships both our son and we have built over the past years. Once your child transitions to a new room the previous teachers still take time out of their day to check up on the children which significantly reduces the anxiety, fear and disruptiveness that this change can bring. Personally, my husband and I still have very close relationships with the teachers from his infant room days, as does our son. Again, this shows the extra mile the teachers go to put the children first.
I have never seen a center so devoted to cohesion but at the same time effectively implement separation by developmental stages allowing each child to flourish and reach their maximum potential.
KCC vets their teachers extensively. The majority have higher education degrees which the owners take into account and utilize by allowing the teachers to create lessons complimenting their specialty.
It is always difficult, and a huge decision which weighs on a parent, when deciding where to send your child for care. We were originally at another daycare which was very toxic. The owners were not dedicated to the center, and their lack of support to both the staff & the parents led to a very unhealthy environment. The teachers & parents were extremely frustrated and the feelings crept into the day to day handling of the center, how effective the teachers could be without the proper supplies, where ultimately the children suffered. There are bad centers out there, this is not one of them!
When you walk into the full class room on any given day, what you will see is shocking to say the least. All of those adorable kids running around, seemingly in ten different directions, but all with the same purpose - to have fun! The mass chaos, which somehow isn't actually chaos, is mesmerizing. Then you look up from watching this spectacle to see who the real heroes are. Calmly and without any hesitation the teachers are setting up for snack time, circle time or yoga while engaging the children in a game or some type of activity to keep them engaged & active, all while being so unruffled that it makes you question your own reality. How do these teachers handle all of these wonderful & spirited kids for ten hours a day, day after day, without losing momentum and making it look easy and (gasp!) fun!? But then you start to see them interact with the children to settle them for snacks/lunch/nap time/a walk outside and you get a firsthand glimpse of how amazing the teachers are at dealing with the multiple personalities of all of these kids. They know, just like you do, the individual needs & struggles of your child to help make a situation or transition uneventful.
The teachers are extremely proactive in speaking with parents. Every teacher "owns" a relationship with you & your child. Obviously the relationships are as involved as you create them, but I like the fact that no matter which teacher is there for drop off or pick up, I can ask them about his day, potty training, transitions, etc. and they can speak to me confidently about my child. You don't have to schedule an appointment to speak with Tremaine to receive feedback and updates.
The owners of KCC take pride in what they do - providing a safe & nurturing environment for children. They go the extra mile to interact with parents - they aren't simply a name on a piece of paper or check that you never see - they are personable, great people with children of their own. Throughout the year they host events for the families which they attend. For example, during the holidays the teachers organized a "Holiday Show" which the owners attended and then surprised both the parents & children with and appearance by Santa which included pictures and small gifts from his satchel. All of this was at no extra charge to the parents. The support & respect they give their staff is appropriate to help evolve the center when needed and ensure the needs of the center are met for the children.
The children's days are structured but not over scheduled, with emphasis on spending time outside when weather permits.
Every teacher builds a genuine relationship with each child.
Everyone is very in tune with the variety of transitions children go through. Not all children start and end transitions at the same time, but the teachers are truly adapt at gauging changes and developmental milestones, providing tools for success, achievement and continued forward momentum. read more
