Man oh man, I love this store! It's overwhelming in the best ways possible because of the sheer volume of stuff that they have! My head was on a swivel the entire time I was in this store and I ended up dropping $200+ on a ton of stuff! They have graphic tees, stickers, coasters, pins, EVERYTHING! And the vast majority of it is all printed and designed by them! This Iowa-based company is absolutely delightful! Everything you find here is going to be unique and wonderful and this is just the exact kind of company I love supporting! They are so bold and out here with their products and if you've got any halfway decent sense of humor, you are sure to find a ton of goodies here to appreciate and purchase! This store encapsulates the Midwesterner state of mind perfectly and I just absolutely love it! This specific Raygun store is located in the extremely quaint and cute downtown Cedar Falls area and so at the front of the store in particular, they have specific products and merch geared towards Cedar Falls especially! I believe one of their bigger stores is located within Des Moines and I will be visiting it very soon and can't wait to see what delightfully fun finds I discover here! My only request to Raygun is for some more representation of other states in the Midwest! As an Iowa-based company, I obviously see and understand the overwhelming majority of Iowa-related products, but I've also seen some Kansas and Ohio merch as well and as a Michigander, I would really love some Michigan representation too! Fun store. Never been to one or heard of it before. Lots of T-shirts, stickers, and other items with very funny sayings and expressions. Some regional stuff and Iowa stuff but definitely not for everyone, especially if they don't have a sense of humor. There was even stuff for dogs. Even the sign out front is fun and it explains Midwest weather. Employees were nice, friendly, smile on their face. Store is large, 2 levels, there are also dressing rooms. read more

Cool store with cool stuff. A lot of custom made t shirts and other one of a kind things. A good store for souvenirs or I guess just a nice tshirt for the summer for a local. Not much more to say. Cool store friendly staff...however many things were overpriced and a lot of the T-shirt's you can order and print online... I've longed after their snarky T-shirts and gear for years and since I moved to town, I take every opportunity to stop by and browse and have even made a few purchases. *gasp* The NewBo store recently got a facelift, as if it could get any cuter. In the past few months, they opened the art gallery on the second floor and expanded their home good offerings. I try to behave like an adult, but their kids space is adorable and I'm about the right size so it's hard to resist. I frequently hear of them hosting special fundraising sales and events on behalf of local causes, like Waypoint and IAAF. Not only do they have cool products, but everyone who works there is so friendly and energetic that it's practically contagious. Definitely worth popping in to treat yo'self or pickup gifts for friends. read more

I think the thing I appreciate most about Raygun is that they not only come up with timely, clever, and funny shirts to make us laugh when we need to most, but they give back to the community in a real way. It's one thing to make a shirt with a statement, but it's another to make sure local organizations that support your businesses beliefs and philosophies are supported in a real way and Raygun does a great job with that. They're constantly updating their merchandise - stickers, shirts, coffee mugs, coasters ect. - and this particular location is very unique in that it's two floors and doubles as event space. Overall, this is a great place to buy gifts, or point people to if they're in town and looking for a souvenir. I have several shirts from this store and all have upheld the test of time. read more

A hilariously funny store. You could easily spend hours in this 2-level shop reading and looking at everything. Sensory overload. The majority of the merchandise references the Midwest, primarily Iowa. The Raygun brand is mostly what fills the shelves (t-shirts to coffee mugs), but there are some other unique brands sprinkled about the store, too. There's something for everyone and they have a great political section right now. Merchandising is well done, but customer service is severely lacking. 4/5 stars because there were many customers in the store on a Saturday afternoon, upstairs and down, and all three employees working just stood behind the counter. As someone who's worked in retail for a number of years, there's a ton of room for improvement here. Prices were fair and they have a sale section on the 2nd floor. Recommend. read more

I was in a rush because my wife had diarrhea. The shirt they sold me had an XL sticker on it but when I got home, it was actually a large. That would suck, but the guy who was explaining to his Gen Z coworker that Monica Lewinski wasn't just famous because she had a funny name sold me some of their sold out framed art off the wall (Cedar Rapids: Smell All Five) for $20. Everytime I go into raygun I always end up laughing out loud. I love that it's basically the Iowa version of Urban Outfitters and with many more inside jokes for people that live here! Who raygun here opened recently and boasts an impressive number of Iowa novelty shirts, in addition to the standard magnets, left-leaning political shirts and other just plain hilarious crap. Perhaps the best part about this place is the children's section in the back which had a number of children's books including a spaceman from Des Moines and my tattoo story. I read both and would consider reading both to my kids the next time they come in! The Iowa native or Iowa captive shirts are becoming a must for just about anyone and their Cedar Rapids theme stuff is downright. Whether you're from the middle of the country or just visiting it's definitely a place to stop in and check out. read more

Yes, I get the idea. It's a brand new shop selling all kinds of Iowa-centric products, tees, cards, magnets, biking jerseys, etc. Most of the merchandise is sold at premium prices. The store is on two levels, and it is neatly arranged, with hip personnel manning the register. But I'm a seasoned citizen, and remember a time when merchandise didn't have to contain vulgarities to be edgy. Seriously? Some of the slogans on these shirts are just two steps above the skanky gear sold at Spencer Gifts at the mall. And hey, it's nice to skew your gear towards the left-leaning folk in our nation. But maybe some equal time toward shoppers on the right and in the middle of the political spectrum. By alienating non tree-huggers they might be winnowing more than they suspect. read more

Just what the up & coming NewBo District needed to officially become the coolest art and entertainment district in Eastern Iowa (or at least north of downtown IC). Raygun got its start in Des Moines' East Village and known for their clever, edgy and timely slogans printed on t-shirts and gift items. What comes with a Raygun location is some new found street cred for this revitalized, once heavy industrialized section of the city. Cedar Rapids now has its own self-effacing slogans like, "Cedar Rapids: Sex, Drugs & Rockwell Collins," "We Built this City on CE-RE-AL," "Cedar Rapids: Wake up & Smell the Crunchberries." You'll find two floors of souvenirs, t-shirts, hats, postcards and posters. There's even a full baby section. The district is growing every day with more shopping, live music, art, eating and drinking options than ever. No trip to Iowa is complete without a visit to Ray Gun. I want to buy almost everything in this place. This time we took home a light men's cardigan with a cat on it, a child's T-shirt that said "Nevertheless science persisted," a baby bib that said "So I guess this is your life now, huh?", a onesie that said "I've listened to NPR since conception," two beer holders- one of which said "this beverage fills my stomach while my soul remains thirsty for true meaning," and several magnets, including one that said "Iowa: it may be a black hole you'll never escape from, but it's a great black hole to raise kids in." My friends and I come to this store all the time. It preaches about being accepting of all and so do their products. My friend and I go in one day to shop make several purchases. Immediately after we leave a couple people chase us down accusing my black friend of stealing. We went back in the store to defend ourselves... it was just ridiculous...
