They opened up 5 trees in back yard for the wind to pass. Then took out 2 smaller trees in the front and ground down the stumps. All this in about 3 hours and that includes all the clean up. I called Rawls for an estimate to remove some large birch trees that were starting to die. I received a quick response by phone, Ben was here with a bid the next day. The crew arrived a few days later at 8am and were done by 10:30am. The crew was efficient, fast, and extremely careful of my plantings that were close by. They avoided any damage to the driveway which they also kept clear for the neighbor to use. We were left a nice pile of firewood and a big pile of mulch for our gardens. I would give Rawls 10 stars if I could. I met with 4 tree removal companies. One bailed on sight of the situation, one eventually ghosted me, one was qualified but ultimately felt the job was too complicated and then there was Rawls. Ben had to arrange to have 1 of the largest cranes in the county here and a huge team of skilled people. I was terrified I was going to lose my home with this huge 150+ ft fir hanging over my house, but the Rawls team removed it with expert precision. Very impressed with Ben Rawls and his team. 7 strong guys showed up at the crack of dawn to remove an enormous dead tree that was giving us grief and were done in an hour and a half. The branches had punctured holes in our roof after a recent windstorm and left giant debris all over our deck. They even removed the debris from a previous windstorm free of charge. Ben was quick and efficient with his communication. Everything was taken care of in less than 24 hours after I gave him the initial call. They left no trace...everything was cleaned up from the woodchopper and they used a leaf blower to clean the area where they were taking the branches from the yard down to the chipper. They stacked the firewood nicely along the fence. They even had to go up and down our steep hill numerous times without complaint. Moved into a new house and had a tree which was leaning towards the house so we called Ben out to have a look. He recommended we remove it and he had it done professionally quickly and effectively within a week. After looking at the tree we found the inner part was rotted out meaning it very easily could have fell onto our house in one of the winter storms and done serious damage to my family so I'm eternally grateful for Ben and his team for quickly coming out, reviewing the risk, taking care of the risk and doing it all quickly and super professionally. My parents had two trees topped. The price tag was 20,000$ (no that is not a type O.) Both my parents are over 80 years old. They have had work done by this company before so they trusted them. By the end of this experience my mother was in tears and Ben told me he would sue me if I gave the company a bad review. My parents were told they needed to have a crane come in (we have had trees taken down before that were right next to the house and never needed a crane) and for one tree it would be 8,000 $. After the crew came out they decided another tree need topping as well. They said it needed to get done right away because the crane was already there. For the extra tree the price went up another 12,000$. My mother felt pressured to agree and called me later very upset feeling she was taken advantage of. I called Ben and asked for a detailed invoice and some time to make sure everything was on the up and up. I was told that he was going to sue me and it would cost us 6 times as much. Ben then didn't call his lawyer after our conversation, he called my mother and pressured her to except a 2,000 dollar reduction. From my research this was still by far too much money to pay for the 2 trees. After research I found the going price should have been 1,800 for each tree and they did not need a crane. I live far away and can't always be there to take care of every decision for my parents but assumed you could trust this company. That was a mistake. read more

They showed up on time and with the execution of a military operation they took the trees down, put all the limbs through a chipper, cut the trunks into firewood sized rounds, cleaned up and left. I don't know how in the world they got those good reviews. After weeks of leaving messages and playing phone tag (they never picked up their phone) we FINALLY got a hold of them to have them come out. They did not let us know WHEN they were coming out, and they showed up with no warning on a day we were all at work. Exceptional customer service above and beyond what could be expected. I was looking for slices of tree branch/trunk with bark edging about an 1" thick and 5" to 7" in diameter for a Christmas present craft project. I am a single parent with a 7-month-old baby, so getting a saw and going out into the woods to do it myself isn't going to cut it...no pun intended ; ) Amazon has everything, and since it's basically lumber trash, I figured I could find it for cheap. Wrong. $20 for a 4-pack & I wanted about 20 of them! I then called a local wood place and told them what I was looking for. They didn't have any and suggested I call a tree removal service. After reading these other reviews, I almost feel guilty for my review but it is what it is. My experience with Rawls Tree Service started out good. I had three old coniferous trees that were very tall and needed to come down. I contacted Rawls and received an estimate of $4000.00 to cut down the trees, to cut the logs into rounds for firewood, the rounds were to be stacked and the branches and debris were to be hauled away. We agreed to those terms. I was not present the day Rawls came out here. I had given my daughter the payment amount. That day was a full work day for the crew. The trees were cut down cut into logs and needed to be cut into rounds for stacking. Some of the smaller logs were cut into rounds. The crew did not finish the job that day. My daughter went ahead and paid Rawls thinking they would return and finish the job. Needless to say they did not return. I called Rawls Tree Service to find out the reason. I was told that the bid that we had agreed upon was an underbid, that based on what I had payed, the work that had been done was all that they could do. I accepted that, I could understand that it was a large job. So I let it go. Months later, the logs and rounds are still laying around my lot. I have attached a couple of photos. Which brings me to my next point. I would still like the logs to be cut into rounds and stacked. With that in mind I called Rawls recently and asked for an estimate. I was willing to pay for the work. They were cordial and polite. However I have yet to get a return phone call setting up a time for an estimate. What started out as a good experience has turned sour. Hence the reason for this review. These guys were fantastic! We had a row of 5 full size birches, dead from bronze borer beetles, located next to our house, with neighbors' fences and gardens close by. In less than half an hour the trees were down, the stumps were removed, and they drove away with a truck full of wood chips. As others have said, they left our yard and driveway cleaner than before they came. Rawls Tree Service is simply the best. I received 5 in-person quotes from local companies to remove 7 trees. Two trees were near my propane tank which I was concerned about. One company wanted to remove the propane tank to down the trees, another company said it would take them over a week to remove all 7 trees. As a professional who works full time from home, none of these were options as this would be extremely disruptive. Rawls was recommended by a neighbor who was very pleased with their service. When I called to get an estimate, I was met with a friendly voice, Ben came out the same day to look at my tree needs and provide a quote. While Rawls wasn't the cheapest, they were by far the only company I felt 100% confident could do the job without removing my propane tank, damaging my house (large tree's were very close) and could complete the project in one day. As it turned out, they completed the project in about 4 hours (with stump grinding) and did a great job with yard clean up afterwards. I have since had Rawls come back out to dead limb and wind sail additional trees on my property. Again, very happy with the service of the team that arrived on site.
