When I arrived there were 2 people ahead of me. I waited and then a third customer from out of nowhere sat down to have her browns done. I protested but was told she was seated in the other side of the salon. I let that go. Then 2 other people jumped the line. When it was finally my turn, I explained to the woman that I wanted a medium tint. She said "OK." she removed hair initially with tape. Then, she applied the wax. There had to be a few stubborn hairs which she began to remove with a blade. I told her I didn't want that type of removal; please reapply the wax. She complied. When it came to the tint, while I had requested a medium shade of dye, she applied a very dark shade and totally exaggerated my brows. I expressed my displeasure. When it was time to check out, I was told they ONLY ACCEPTED CASH for those services. I had none and was forced to use a use an out-of-network ATM for an extra service fe fee. I will not be going back to this salon.

Back story per the customer: After not being able to get anyone on the phone The customer drove to the shop. The owner Azuka opened the door while on the phone she told her that I she had to call for an appointment. The customer told her that she tried but only got voicemail ( The voicemail tells you not to leave appointments on voicemail ) so she decided to come in person and make an appointment. Azuka gave her an appointment and about 5 minutes later Azuka called and said she had to cancel her appointment that she gave her because (and I quote) "my energy with her was not going to work". So let me start by saying that my soon to be mom is one of the kindest people I know and I have never seen her get angry or not show grace to anyone. With that being said she is amid about supporting BLACK BUSINESSES. Facts: 9.5% businesses in the United States are black owned. Eight out of 10 of them fail within the first 18 months. I went and reviewed this particular business website to find that this place has been in business for almost 20 years! Also , to say the least their mission statement mentions "well-recognized in the community for professional, high quality beauty services and cosmetic products". Keyword : Professionalism I highlight professionalism above because black businesses lack it as this particular one did. We need more black businesses and entrepreneurs so that we as black people can become and stay wealth builders for generations! As a business owner please think about your own biases and how they would reflect to your customers that are supporting you. Consider how you can do better because without our support your business cannot be successful without it. ALWAYS STRIVE TO EXCEED YOUR CUSTOMERS EXPERIENCE OR CLIENTS EXPECTATIONS AT ALL TIMES, WHENEVER AND WHEREVER POSSIBLE!!! When a business provides consistent excellent service or products, a consumer will become a loyal repeat customer, regardless of the distance, and they will also help grow your business by referring others. I have a wedding coming up and I was looking at hiring a black owned business to service me and my entire bridal party but after listening to this testimony I shall try somewhere else (black owned) and I hope I won't receive the lack of professionalism that was mentioned above because .....that wouldn't work well with my energy.

The building was easy to find, but I had to call Ebony upon arriving because her shop is located in the basement and I couldn't figure out how to get there based on the door I entered. She should probably provide instructions to let clients know which door to enter and how to get downstairs when she confirms appointments. It was actually kind of scary down there to me since it was dark and there were no other offices open in the basement. As other reviewers noted, Ebony is super sweet. Very accommodating and personable. The actual room where she does the facials is really small compared to the other place I usually go. I actually mentioned to her how short and narrow the table/bed was where you lay for the procedure. The table is also right next to a wall, which is unusual as well since other places have enough space to walk around as you lay down, to provide other services, like massages. The facial was fine, but not as extensive as the ones I usually get. It's important to note that her prices are also half the cost of what I typically pay. Definitely not a luxury experience, but ok if you need a quick, cheaper facial that takes care of the basics.
