Rave is located in the new strip mall across from St. Vital mall - they opened in March 2014. It's one of the city's first membership-based massage therapy clinic. You can opt in for free by agreeing to pay for a one hour massage every month at a reduced price. Apparently it rolls over if you don't use it and you can get unlimited massages at that same reduced price. The ambiance feels like somewhere between a regular massage clinic and a more spa like place. The place has a very serene feel to it and is quite large as there are a number of rooms in the back. You can book online and there's a receptionist available as well. They say their massage is 1 hour but like many places, it's more like 50 mins as the therapist is not always on time and then gives you another 5 mins or so to change. The room is simply designed with good temperature, each massage table has adjustable heat and the music is the typical new age relaxation songs. Right now they are offering an intro rate of $54.95 for a 50 min massage. To compare pricing for similar 50 min massages in the city: Rave = member $64.95 / non-member $84.95 for 50 mins relaxation Swedish massage Spas: Ten Spa = $115 Riverstone = $105 Massage Clinics: Academy Massage = $70 Waterfront Massage = $68 So their pricing is a bit less than the massage clinics if you take on the membership but I'm not one to have a massage every month and I don't think many people have such generous health plans to cover 12 massages a year. For those reason, the membership pricing doesn't work for me but it's a decent deal if you do require massages more frequently and have a generous plan. The therapist I had was ok but he really didn't ask me about how much pressure I prefer or asked me during the session if I wanted more or less pressure. Compared to other therapists, it was ok. I'm a member at Rave Massage and I can't imagine ever having a bad experience there! I've been going since March 2014 since they opened and have always had a great therapist. I decided to try a few before I found my favorite, they have over 12 so there is always options. The decor is all new and the music is relaxing, I always feel like I am having a spa experience when I go with the hot towels and heated tables that I can control, it always smells so nice inside! The bank across the road was under construction in May/June and was claiming a good chunk of the parking lot but since then I've never had an issue. As far as timing is concerned, I've only seen people have problems if they were coming in late for their appointment. The receptionists are busy women and often running around keeping the place clean, but I've never experienced a long wait and they've always addressed my concerns or asked a therapist if they didn't know. After the initial introductory massage the rates go up, but my membership status makes it only $10 more and entitles me to extend the pricing to family in my household and some luxurious aromatherapy. Everyone I've recommended to go to Rave has LOVED IT and the majority have signed up to be members too. Since I've been getting massage regularly I haven't had a single migraine and I'm so RAVING about it! read more

Extremely disappointed in customer service at Rave. I booked a couples massage a month in advance for Valentine's Day, I confirmed my appointment over the phone a week in advance because it was a surprise gift. Hours before my scheduled appointment, I checked my voicemail and they had cancelled my appointment! Saying that they were too busy to accommodate my appointments because I did not confirm and Valentines Day is busy! Unprofessional on their part. Bailey the receptionist did not honour my booking and cancelled my appointment. I would of booked elsewhere if I knew my massages would be cancelled the day of. I booked in advance for a reason. My first time here and my therapist we excellent. I would have given a better rating but they don't direct bill to any insurers. Not sure if I'll go back for that reason. If I can find a clinic that direct bills I will probably go there first. read more

Although the ambiance was nice and spa-like with comfortable beds, the massages themselves were one of the worst my husband and I have ever experienced. We went for an introductory massage (first time there) and both left with broken capillaries and under the skin bruising and inflammation from too aggressive massaging. We thought, ok, well if one of us got it too hard, that's one thing, but both of us were in pain for 2 days afterwards. And my husband LIKES hard massages too - but even he was completely let down/underwhelmed by how uncomfortable the process was for him. I came in wanting relief from neck pain and headaches and ended up leaving with one of the worst 2 day headaches I've ever had in my life! We even went to our regular chiropractor 2 days later who immediately saw the after-effects of a massage that was beyond the scope of relaxation/therapeutic/deep tissue. Not only did the masseuses fail to read our body language of pain as the massage went on, in my case, even after telling my masseuse it was quite hard, I don't know that she let up that much. The entire hour was painful and aggressive and we will not be going back. The owner after being informed of the feedback decided she wanted to be snarky with us and told us we better go to our medical doctor for any more concerns we have. Wow. If you have a regular masseuse that you'd like, I'd say stick with them - unless you're willing to go through all the staff here at Rave Massage and hope one of them is decent. read more

I have been going to Rave since October 2014. I see 2 different therapists for different Injuries. The last time I went my therapist had the stomach flu, had to leave the room twice to throw up, so I asked why he/she didn't call in sick and I was given a smile. I said oh so your employer shuns upon calling in sick, again another smile as they wouldn't say but I new exactly what they meant. So the next day I was feeling off, queasy stomach, slight fever and then the throwing up started. So I missed a day of work and I was not happy. To the OWNER of Rave. Nice decor, professional presented and ran. Clean. But actual massage was average. Deep tissue most of it was just a light to medium body rub. When working muscles, it was only for a few minutes at most, and lightly at that. Even though they asked on pressure levels. Seems the person was more interested in conversing energy for the next one, and the next one...find smaller one or two person shops offer better massages and listen to the customer on pressure levels, etc. Not gong back. read more

I had a positive experience at Rave Massage today. The receptionist was friendly, the atmosphere was very warm and serene. My massage therapist was excellent - very thorough and receptive to requests in terms of pressure, etc. The clinic has heated tables, which many others don't, and that was a nice bonus on a chilly fall day. The music was relaxing and ambient. I normally see a sports massage therapist, as I'm quite active and constantly pulling muscles left and right. This clinic definitely strikes me as more of a spa type place for relaxing massages rather than a place to get your training injuries worked on. I'd recommend it to first timers and casual massage enthusiast who just want a nice, zen hour to relax. read more

I wasn't blown away by this clinic. I mainly went here because my therapist was on vacation and felt a pull in my shoulder and didn't think it could wait until he got back. When you go in the place is nicely decorated, kind of like a spa type atmosphere. I have to admit I was pulled in by the intro offer, 54.95 for your first massage. I wasn't sure if they would be able to treat my issue because it does look so spa like but the website said they do therapeutic massage as well so I thought I would try it. I filled out the form and then the therapist took me in. I explained that I had previously hurt my shoulder and it felt like i had re-pulled it. The girl I had didn't even ask me any questions about the injury and said I could get on the table. I was a little put off by this. How could she know what to treat if she didn't even know how I had hurt it? She only spent maybe 10 mins on the actual area I hurt and spent the rest of the time doing more of a relaxation massage. I ended up with a full body massage in the end, and my shoulder felt barely any better after. They do play relaxing music etc which makes me think this place might be more for people that want the type of massage where you zone out for an hour and relax- not to treat any actual issues. For a return visit costing around 90$, I can't see myself returning. The parking lot is also a nightmare, considering its in a newly built strip mall. read more
