Many 1 & 2 star reviews for this company and I have to concur. The entire experience was a 1 at best. This company is profit driven with no regard to job completion or customer satisfaction. This is a horrendous company. Do not hire them!!!!! Extremely poor service, incompetent plumber, caused major damage to my building and home. The plumber caused a fire, which they refused to take responsibility for, despite the fire department verifying they did, and the plumber acknowledged that he knew he did. DO NOT HIRE!!!!! Get the $98 contractor rate right away, their plumbers say you just have to ask for it. I dealt with 3 of their plumbers all bad for different reasons. Worst by far though is their epic fail admin. Incompetent and worthless is high praise for her. They didn't have the decency to repair the damages to my drywall they did. They offered to fix it themselves at the first hour is free kinda deal, but I don't trust them as plumbers now they think they are drywallers and painters. Rather Call Someone else. Also, you can't call them over for a quote or talk about a job beforehand because they'll charge you an hour for it and a fuel charge. read more

Charged us for too many hours, had too many people come, used the camera then insisted we get the septic tank cleaned when the septic guy said it was empty. The clog was in the pipe to the septic tank. They insisted on opening 2 doors to the septic when there was a hole in the door giving access to the pipe. I would say more but you get the picture. The owner is nice but they never changed the hours to make them correct. read more

THE SHORT: These plumbers flooded my basement, tried convince me it was my fault, and then avoided any responsibility. THE FULL STORY: I hired this company to fix a kitchen sink drain pipe. Their plumber cut through a pressurized water line, totally unrelated to this job, and flooded my basement. Luckily, I was home and I helped the plumber clean up the mess as quickly as possible and prevented thousands of dollars in further damage. When I contacted the company, I was promised fans and dehumidifiers. I received one consumer grade fan. It took me 5 days of running all of my fans and portable heaters to dry out the walls and flooring. I was told to take pictures documenting the damage. After doing so, I waited 3 months for a response. I was told by the owner, in a condescending email, that this was somehow my fault. I believe they did some quick math after receiving the photos to determine whether or not I would make an insurance claim. They calculated that it would be unlikely, so they told me it was too bad. Mistakes happen but the way they dealt with their mistake was both unprofessional and tacky. I will never use this company again. read more

We hired RBP to replace the perimeter drains on two sides of our house, then later added a new lateral connection to the municipal storm sewer (full of roots), and since they were in the same trench, we got them to replace the sanitary sewer line and water line. It ended up costing us about $40,000, and we are spending another $10,000 to repair the damage that the workers did, some of it expected (like replacing 25 feet of sidewalk) and some of it unexpected (they bashed in our gutter with the arm of their backhoe and didn't tell us, then once we discovered it, it fell on deaf ears, similar to when they also broke our sewer line and water line and refused to defray the hourly rate they charged us to repair them, saying it was "incidental" and couldn't be helped. The project was sold to me as a quick repair job to our perimeter drains that would take just a few days and wouldn't need a permit. Like most homeowners I deferred to the expertise of the company. Afterall, they did this for a living so they should know, but a few days later a bylaw officer spotted the digging and slapped a stop-work order on them for not having a permit. I talked to the bylaw officer directly who told me that a permit can take up to two months to get (it's quicker for emergencies) so it's a likely reason for drain companies wanting to avoid permits. Not only did the work grind of a halt for a month, but we had to pay for various tests and even staff time, and RBP charged us for their own time whenever they went to the municipality to explain their actions, even though it was their advice that got us into this mess. For $40,000 I might have expected an on-site project manager, but the senior staff seemed to only show up for a few minutes in the morning then leave the work crews to themselves, and were only called back if there was a problem. The work crews varied in quality - Adam was great and I'm grateful he handled the important water and sewer line connections, but some of the other work was very shoddy: purple PVC glue splashed everywhere, even visible on the above-ground portions; and their new pipes in the trench did not line up with our downspouts, so when they reattached them, they were crooked. When I complained, their fixes included a plastic accordion sleeve to move the water sideways eight or ten inches, but it was cheap, thin stuff which made a horrible noise when rainwater in the downspouts hit it, so I replaced it myself with PVC elbows at my own expense. Likewise, when a worker cut the vertical inspection pipes below grade (nobody asked what the final restored grade should be) I had to buy PVC pipe and collars to extend the pipes back above the expected level of the ground. The building wrap was similarly shoddy, with metal anchors sticking half an inch out of the concrete instead of flush with it and some of the wrap sagging away from the wall. Even their clean-up was poor. I asked them more than once for them to come and get their garbage, but in the end I had to take it to the dump myself. In the end, the everything was different from the project described to us at the beginning. They changed the two-level drain system to a single pipe without consulting us, because they said later that we didn't need it (but the quote was based on a two-level system and the cost wasn't prorated). They said they had an arborist on staff and that half our plants would likely survive (none did). They took a lot of photos at the start, supposedly so they could put things back the way they were, but none of them were used. It was a real failure of consultation and project management. read more

WOW unbelievable. After installing a heat regeister in my bathroom, the plumber mentioned that we need to put a filter on our 2 1/2 year old boiler system and said it would be a quick job costing $300, maybe $350. After aboiut 3 weeks Rather Be Plumbing called me saying they had some time and could they come and install the filter. I said sure come on over. After the installation the bill was over $1000. $800 for yhe part which cost only $380. A week late my whole heating system shut down. When I call Jarrod he sent over the plumber who called the manufacture and came to a conclusion that a part was faulty and needed to be replaced and was under warranty. I called Jarrod the next day to see if the part was in, he mentioned that it was but he was to busy to pick it up or put it in. I asked if I could pick the part up, Jarrod said yes and then phoned me right back saying I could not pick it up because I was not a plumber. After I mentioned to Jarrod that another plumber came over and told me the part was 100% unnecessary and that it was installed wrong. Jarrod then completely turned on me saying I was a whinner and that I complained about everything and that he would not send anybody over and to fix it myself leaving me and my family without heat or hot water for the weekend. I had another plumber come over and fix it in 1 hour and needed NO extra part, changed a fuse and it worked. A week later the pump blows shutting the system down, leaking water in the basement leaving me with no heat o hot wayer again. WOW unbelievable read more
