It is completely unethical for Rate Plus to send out mailers that say "Rate Review Department" on the front together with my *current* mortgage lender's name, but then the so-called rate review is actually with Rate Plus? Sending deceptive mortgage junk mail is an abhorrent business practice! The sooner fraudsters like these are either prosecuted for sending out deceptive mailers, sued out of business, and/or shut down by the government, the better it is for humanity. Please don't do business with this immoral company. read more

Took longer than expected, the agent kept copying me on internal emails and even forward me a screenshot of somebody's loan with phone #,s email address, and SSN, very unprofessional. They rolled the "points" into the load causing my refi to be over $10K, I was like no thanks, all in all, it cost $1,200 after I said to remove the points. I lost my interest rate of 3% and settled @ 3.37% however I still feel ripped off. They got the job done yet I still feel ripped off knowing the interest rates dropped below 3.37%. read more

THEY LITERALLY RUINED OUR CREDIT !!!!! We did a refi with RatePlus that closed in December (two months late) . We sent our mortgage payments on time to them for the next several months , where they cashed our checks . Unbeknownst to us , they sold our loan right away , and DID NOT FIORWARD our payments to the new loan company !!! We lost 140 credit points - I have called., emailed , texted and begged for them to resolve this issue - they said they would . They did not. The closing costs were $3000 mora than I was guaranteed . Stay away !!!!! read more

This company was highly recommended to us, sadly we had the misfortune having Hugo Llamas as our loan "officer " He's not very nice to deal with, very condescending, obnoxious and a total jersey to deal with. Just remember, pigs get fat & Hogs get slaughtered... read more

I just completed my refinance with Rate Plus and by far this has been the smoothest and fastest refinance I've ever done. 10 days. That is the number of days it took from the initial application to the mobile notary appointment at my home. Yep that is right 10 days... not business days... 10 days! Subsequently the loan funded 8 days later! So in total my loan took a total of 18 days! UNBELIEVABLE! In addition to Rate Plus' speed in executing the loan they offered the most competitive rate. I was able to secure a 1.99% 15 year fixed loan with only $500 in fees out of pocket. The application process was smooth also. Everything can be submitted online and electronic signatures. In fact I even sent my loan processor a picture of a document I took with my phone since I didn't have a scanner readily available. There was another unexpected surprise with Rate Plus. My home is currently in a Trust. Many other banks/lenders require that the property to be taken out of the Trust until the loan closes. The property owner would be responsible to put the property back into the Trust after the loan closes. This process of taking the property in and out of a Trust is tedious and incurs costs (recording/notary fees). However, this was not the case with Rate Plus. In my situation they were able to keep the property in the Trust! If you plan to do a refinance I recommend working with Melissa F. (loan officer) and Lisa G. (loan processor). Also note that Rate Plus will match or beat competitor rates. Final thoughts. Owning.com is a major competitor to Rate Plus. Owning.com was able to provide a similar rate but I'd strongly recommend to stay away from Owning.com. Owning.com had great reviews from 2019 to late 2020 but their service has fallen off a cliff as they were recently acquired by Guaranteed Rate. Just to be brief I started a refinance with them in Nov 2020 and in Apr 2021 they were still unable to complete the transaction due to mismanagement and clerical errors. Note that if you go with Owning.com the loan officer with be an Owning.com employee but the loan processors will be from Guaranteed Rate. If you lookup recent reviews for Guaranteed Rate you will quickly see they are terrible. read more

Beyond the worst lending company I have dealt with. Incompetent to say the least. They took over three months to establish that my father, with over 2 million in paid off properties, zero debt, did not qualify for a $200k loan. They asked for multiple different things, having zero to do with the property loan in question. The customer service is horrible, told us every week for the past six weeks, "YOUR loan will close next week." only to have them say does not qualify? Why did they waste 3 months of our time. Again, horrible, do not use this company EVER!!! read more

After filling out a loan application, I finally get a call back a week later from Dave. He only gave me 1 loan option and was pressuring me to accept the terms. Felt completely rushed and unprofessional. He promised to get back to me with additional loan options, but never did. Finally I get a call a week later from AJ. I missed the call so I asked him to call back and he never did. What a complete waste of my time. I have excellent credit too - over 800 so it would have been an easy loan to close. Oh well, there loss! read more

I'm beyond grateful that I took a risk and called rate plus as my last option for my cash-out refinance. Sandy Carpenter took my call and from day 1 until we closed she's available for any questions and patiently walked me through the process. I must say that Sandy is the most transparent and detailed oriented loan officer I've ever worked with. She will give you comparison with pictures (if you are visual) with explanations. Rate plus gave me the best rate and beats 2 previous lender!! It's totally worth it and I'm funded in less than 30 days!! If you need help don't hesitate to call Sandy Carpenter. read more

Tash did an amazing job helping me with my refinance. He actually took his time to explain the different options and answered all my questions in a timely manner. Worst company to get work done. Got a good rate but they became nonresponsive after singning and submitting documents qnd never locked my rate. Followed up next 2 days multiple times with no proper response. Poor response time despite multiple calls after submitting documents and signing initial disclosures. Employees leave and customer is left lingering with no response. Poor poor service. Would never recommend them to anyone. Seemed like a fraud company to me. read more

I just refinanced my home through Rate Plus and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. And it took only 2 1/2 weeks! Ron Steen was a pleasure to work with. He was extremely helpful, insightful, professional, friendly, and caring of my needs. He listened to my requests and spent the time necessary to get me what I wanted, working with me at all hours to accomplish my goal. He always left me feeling that I was his top priority. Ron is genuinely a nice person, and I would highly recommend him to my family and friends. In fact, I have already referred him to a family member. My processor, Tania Rueben, was also an absolute pleasure and made the paperwork process easier than I've ever experienced. She was on top of every question, and I rarely waited more than 20 minutes for an answer to any of my emails. My experience with both the appraiser and notary were exemplary. Rate Plus has chosen all top-quality individuals to represent them. The customer service is superior all the way around...from the first person you work with to the last. By far, this was the best refinance experience I've ever had; and I would highly recommend working with Rate Plus and Ron Steen for your mortgage financing needs. Tammy D read more

Rate Plus was a fabulous experience! Initially, I worked with Ashlee who helped me gather all the needed information. She made it VERY easy as opposed to other refinances that I have done. She was knowledgeable, friendly and answered all my questions within hours. There was no frustration of trying to reach her at any time through the process. After that, I dealt with Tara, who was also fabulous. She reviewed all my documents, sent me the docu-signs, made sure all the "i's were dotted and t's were crossed." All the way through, she helped me with extreme patience! She was also very knowledgeable, friendly and available. I would NOT hesitate to refinance with Rate Plus. They are a class operation and their employees know their "stuff"! Along with being smart and nice, Ashlee and Tara were the most knowledgeable agents that I have ever worked with. read more

I left 2 voicemails couple of weeks apart to Dan but he never responded back. never got replies to my emails either. Not returning calls/emails speaks so much about the company's un-professionalism. Won't do business with this company. read more

We just finished our refinance last week and I couldn't be more grateful to have Ron Steen as our loan officer. In this covid era where everything takes a lot longer, you need somebody who is efficient and highly responsive. You'll be amazed at how fast he responds to your emails and or phone calls eventhough this is the busiest that mortgage companies have ever been. He will update you every step of the way and move you towards closing in a timely manner. Rate Plus has offers that can't be beat. Give them a call! Here's Ron's direct line- 949-549-1158. My loan has been open with them for over 2 month. They have done nothing. 2 days before closing they asked for appraisal report and tried to cancel the because i refinanced before with Owning corp. Later on they raised my the initial interest rate they offered in writing from 2.625 to 2.875. Or i have to pay them $2,000.00 to buy the rate. They are running professional fraud loan refinance operations in Orange County. Will have to report them. Stay away from this company. read more
