Ratchet Tap is designed for all tap dancing levels! Even if you've never tap danced before, we guarantee you will not feel lost in class. If you have tapped before, we will make sure you feel challenged in class by giving you harder, alternative steps. We even have tap shoes you can borrow for class at no extra cost to you.
Our style of tap dancing is more rhythmic/street. We dance to top40/hip-hop/latin songs, it's definitely a modern twist to tap dancing. Did we mention you'll also leave with some twerk skills?
We start with a warm up, followed by practicing steps across the floor. Each week, we learn a unique and originally choreographed routine to a top40/hip-hop/latin song. Watch our class routines on Instagram (@ratchettap) or on Facebook.
History
Established in 2015.
Ratchet Tap was founded in 2015 by two cousins who grew up training in formal dance studios.
Meet the Business Owner: Alexandra V.
Alexandra V started dancing in 1994. Growing up she trained in ballet, jazz, hip-hop, ballet, acrobatics, lyrical, and of course tap dance. In 2006, Alexandra became a certified dance teacher in the state of Florida and began teaching various styles to young kids. During college, she taught hip-hop and jazz to kids and teens alike. After moving back to her home town, Alexandra missed teaching/dancing and teamed up with her cousin, Fiorella, to start teaching a hip-hop tap fusion dance class they dubbed Ratchet Tap. Fiorella started dancing in 2003. She currently trains in jazz, hip-hop, ballet, and of course tap. In 2016, Fiorella became a certified dance teacher in the state of Florida and has begun teaching Ratchet Tap and various styles to young kids.
