My partner and I visited these ruins after learning that they featured an ogham stone from 550-60 AD. As big fans of Irish history, this was a must-see. There is a sign outside the ruins telling the story of them, but there is no mention of the stone so you wouldn't know how old it is unless you learned about it elsewhere. There was some trash inside the ruins so it's obvious that kids hang out there and make a mess, but I'd like to hope that they pick up the area regularly.
There are lots of older gravestones in the cemetery the church ruins are a part of, so take some time and wander the rows if you can. Just remember to be respectful!
There is parking nearby but it is also very easy to walk to the cemetery. The gates are open during the day and it's free to go through. read more
