I have been using this bustling library since 2003 on my trips to Tralee. They not only well serve the library needs of Tralee itself, but they are the hub for branches all over the county.
Most of my work with the library has been with the local history room, which houses a collection of notebooks compiled by the workhouse managers before, during and after the great famine of the 1840s. I was able to help set up a program to digitize a number of pages of these treasures and get them up on the web were thousands of viewers were able to see them. My university at the time (They are in Connecticut and their name starts with the letter Q) lost interest in providing this service, but I was able to save a number of the images and mount them individually in partnership with the library. On my last visit in 2017, I got to spend a bit of time with Archivist Michael Lynch, who is a passionate advocate for saving a preserving their resources. This is a quality operation. read more
