Our15 year old fur baby, Rudy, recently spent 2 1/2 days in the hospital before losing his battle with lung cancer. Dr. Lilly was his Vet and when we realized he was sick 6 months ago, she referred us to UT Vet Hospital. It was there we found out he had cancer. Dr Lilly provided medical his care very carefully when we returned from UT. When Dr Lilly was not available and on her days off, we were able to use Dr Hart to help with his care. Dr Lilly and Dr Hart are compassionate about their work and are diligent in providing the best medical care possible. The weekend before Rudy passed away I called Dr Lilly at home at 7:00 on a Sunday morning. I explained to her what was going on with Rudy and she told me to go the the Emergency Vet at the airport. When we arrived at the Emergency Hospital, the staff was waiting on us. Dr Lilly had called ahead and given the Dr on call a brief history of Rudy's health and the treatment he required. My husband and I will continue to use Mountain Empire to provide medical care for our two puppies and four cats. I have recommended Mountain Empire Animal Hospital to our friends and family. We have family members from Erwin and Kingsport that now use Mountain Empire Animal Hospital for their fur babies. I would highly recommend this facility and their Vets for the care of their pets.

I had got him in Harrogate, TN. and he had at least been to the Vet and was up to date on everything. He's about 2 yrs old and a long haired Chihuahua and when I first got him the hour and 1/2 drive from Harrogate to home, I thought he'd vibrate out of my lap into the floor. He panted to where I thought he'd pass out. He was definitely traumatized. I call the Vet in Harrogate and tell him what happened and how nervous he acts, so he said he would look at his chart, check his weight and would send me some liquid Prozac to give him to see if it would help. And it did, but Harrogate was so far to drive so I thought I'd find somewhere closer and made an appointment at Jonesville. My very first appointment I knew this was not the place for me. I had brought copies of Rudy's records with me, and the Dr. snapped "we don't give this medicine here. If you're here for this, you might as well find somewhere else".... 1. It's Prozac not Morphine. And 2. I was not there for that. I had weaned him off that months before. So I set him straight, told him I heard good Vets worked there, and he said nothing else. Just needed his Rabies shot. Then about a yr later I want to get his teeth cleaned, so I'm calling around trying to find a Vet that does that without having him ride an hour, so guess what? They do and make me an appointment to come in for a consultation??? It's made for about 3 or 4 weeks away so, I didn't make the appointment. And I understand it inconveniences them, but they are not my regular Vet and it was my 1st time missing an appointment. Low and behold I'm getting billed for missing the appointment!! Needless to say I'm not happy. I pulled up the new customer application and can't find anywhere where it says if you miss an appointment you'll be billed. So NO I do not recommend this place at all.

Macy was the sweetest and most cooperative...the sedative was not necessaRY-Meredith gave Macy too much of the sedative (she did not secure her airway either) and she suffocated and never recovered and passed away. She was basically overdosed. I will never get over this pain that Meredith caused us, and will tell everyone and anyone about this terrible and preventable death of our sweet Macy. He clearly explained two treatment options and thoughtfully considered that my cat is older and had been recently sedated. I initially chose the more conservative option, but when my cat needed to return for catheterization under sedation, Dr. Dolan was excellent during both procedures. His communication was clear, calm, and honest, and I genuinely felt that his recommendations were centered on my cat's welfare. After stabilization, my cat--while catheterized--was transferred to a 24-hour emergency clinic in Asheville, where he was hospitalized for three days. I'm incredibly grateful to this practice for stabilizing him and setting him up for the care he needed next. For an emergency hospital, the cost was also very reasonable. I sincerely hope I won't need emergency services again, but if I do, I would absolutely return here.

Bentley is a 16 year old male Maltese who was experiencing severe symptoms, including vomiting…read moreyellow bile, foaming at the mouth, excessive diarrhea that appeared bloody, and refusal to eat for two days. These symptoms were extremely distressing and clearly required urgent medical attention. At the clinic, I was told Bentley's condition might be related to his pancreas. Bloodwork was performed, and I was informed that his white blood cell count was high. The clinic recommended keeping Bentley overnight for hydration at a cost of $2,200, which I could not afford. Despite Bentley's age and the seriousness of his symptoms, he was not given anything for pain, vomiting, or diarrhea. No supportive medications were administered to ease his suffering while he was in their care. Additionally, communication from the staff was poor. The receptionist was talking on the phone and did not respond to me when I asked questions about Bentley's condition, treatment plan, or options. This left me without critical information during an already stressful situation. I was also told that Bentley had to be picked up at 7:00 AM Monday morning. I explained that I had a doctor's appointment at 7:30 AM and would not be able to pick him up at that exact time. I asked if I could pick him up slightly later that morning. The clinic refused and stated that I could not pick him up at any other time. This rigid policy did not take Bentley's medical needs--or my circumstances--into consideration.

They have a very friendly caring staff and the prices for everything they do are very low as much as 95 percent off. I highly recommend them. Dr Dotson was very nice and worked with me on payments for the procedure but it didn't work out in the end like it did with my other vet for some reason. It just could've been Junebugs time he had mega colon hip dysplasia he was missing two vertebrates at the base of his tail so he had to hop like a rabbit when he walked or ran. We had a bond like no other because he was born at 2:31 a.m. on my birthday and we both had the same back disease so tell me if that's not a solid soulmate Bond right there. he was my best friend in the entire world I loved him more than any other human being I've ever loved on this Earth...
