Casual dining at fine dining prices. Sundays just got worse with an unexpected 10% Sunday surcharge - not something I've experienced often in my life, thankfully.
The staff are warm and ready to assist. The menu is modern, with an original layout and is nearly the same width as the Lord of the Rings novels.
Service is quick. I believe we spent more time deciding on what to order (again, large menu) then we did waiting for it to arrive.
The food was nothing to write home about. "The Share Plate" ($19) for starters - spicy crumbed chicken... meh; the salt and pepper squid & tempura prawns there the highlight of the meal. It seems these guys know how to do seafood.
Mains included the Schnitzel Burger & Chip ($15). The chips had no seasoning, something every cook/chef must master; and the burger, although tasted fresh, just didn't do much for me. The other mains was a Chilli Prawn Fettuccine ($23). The pasta I'm sure was made in-house, cooked al dente; as for flavour I'll let you know when they add some (total of five prawns).
The fruit crushes are pretty decent ($7 each). My partner and I were happy just to sit back and drink down the sweet sweet icy drink.
This place has a very relaxed feel to it. Great for families with kids. Stick with the seafood. A Sunday lunch for two people almost totaled $80... ouch! That's including the 10% Sunday surcharge. read more
