It was an absolutely terrible experience with two different stylists…read more Cheyenne was my first stylist who kept cutting my hair longer on one side. No matter how many times I complained and went back to have it fixed, she made it worse. This was about the time I decided to find another salon when Sara called me and informed me Cheyenne quit. Sara was my second stylist, and what a big mistake that was. I brought in pictures and clearly and concisely made her aware that I was originally a red head. She would have to be extremely careful with base colors as being an original red head, my hair pulls red, and the base colors will have a glowing brassy tone if not addressed properly. (As a side note: I am older, and my hair has become white and grey, and I'm dying it at home a medium blonde color.) Sara did not listen to me at all. After she washed my hair, it was bright orange. She informed me it was the bad lighting in the salon. My hair was supposed to be a blonde color, not orange. How can bad lighting make your hair look orange? Cope out excuse!!! After she dried my hair, my roots and around my face were a glowing orange brassy color. Let me state clearly that the lighting in the salon is not bad it is horrific. After going outside my base color and all around, my face was an extremely bright glowing orange brassy color. Obnoxious!!! Later that day, when my two brothers saw my hair, and their comment was; "WTF." My brothers both worn me as did my friends that going to a stylist would be a mistake and they liked the medium blonde color I was dying my hair. They stated my hair had beautiful definition with lowlights and highlights. I found out the hard way and expensive way they were all more than accurate!!! When I washed my hair at home, it was a bronze color when it was wet. What an utter disaster! I used two different shampoos and one additional product to strip the orange brassy color out of my hair. I spent over $300 for a complete "F UP." I can dye my hair at home for $11. Bottomline, what was most upsetting to me was that Sara promoted herself as a qualified and knowledgeable stylist with years of experience and even her apprenticeship to become a stylist. She told me I could trust her - that in itself was a huge mistake!!! Needless to say, her carefree and less than concerning attitude over the disasterous color of my hair was very upsetting and spoke volumes about her as a stylist. This is why I absolutely would "not" recommend J. Miles Salon.

I actually drive in from the Houston Heights area to see her - I've followed her through a few different studio locations over the years and LOVE her new home studio. Her home studio is incredibly comfortable, professional, and well-appointed - it feels like a high-end, personalized experience every visit. On top of her talent, Ellie is incredibly kind and makes every appointment such a great experience. She's easy to book with, always professional, and her pricing is very fair and transparent. I emailed the salon with pictures of my bleached damaged hair. I was emailed back by Gina, the owner and experienced stylist. Asked for me to come in and sit in her chair to do a consultation. Which I proceeded to do. I was there and we talked for quite awhile about my hair and she even had other stylist chime in on what they thought. I wanted to cover my damaged bleached hair with a beautiful ombrè that I had picked out and showed the picture again and she agreed it would be ok to do and wouldn't damage my hair anymore being that it would be a color. So she went and got a price and came back and told me and it was $120. (I also spent an additional $40 on a product and hair brush as well as a tip) when she got through, (4.5 hours later) I was in a hurry to get somewhere so she didn't blow dry my hair. I rushed home and had time to go ahead and blow dry it, only to find out it was really un even with the coloring and didn't come down where I wanted it too and where we agreed. Also the color was very brassy/red. I texted her and told her about it as well as sent a picture and she agreed it wasn't what we thought it would be. So I went in the very next day to re color the top and try and get it more even and not so brassy/red. This also didn't work out as planned. She put me under the dryer for awhile and then I got back in her chair so she could finish blow drying to see how it turned out. It was super gray in places somehow and on top, was splotchy as she called it.(to me it's just a mess) Its very un even and un attractive. Its blonde in some places on my roots and dark brown in others. The whole back part of my hair on top close to roots, is still very blonde. She wasn't pleased with it either and asked for me to wear it for a week and see what I thought. Well I did but I still don't like it. So I texted her telling her that I was un happy with it and her only solution is for me to wait it out or to color it again on top even darker. Which my hair is pretty fried as it is and very un healthy. I don't want to color it 3X in a week. I don't think that's smart at all. So here I am with un even and very un attractive hair and out the money for the coloring. Also the 4.5 hours the first day and 3.5 the next. Very sadden with this because she seemed so genuine in the salon and now it's basically like everywhere else, they get paid and don't care what happens when you leave. It looks like I won't be returning ever again :(
