Hey, life, Er- I mean lice happens, right? I never had them so didn't know what to look for after a possible exposure...I know several family groups who went to this Ann Arbor location and Farmington hills with great results, guarantees, and all natural products. A pediatrician even recommended the FH location, so off I went to the closer, Ann Arbor location. For only $15 they will go through your hair carefully and see if you have the lil critters. I did not have them, so yay. If you do have them, they will treat you right away I believe. The price depends on the hair. A toddler was less, while some hair is $120-190 a head I believe. This makes sense bcs some ppl have very thick, curly hair that is more time consuming. Leila salon, they do leave a spot on the receipt for a tip. The only difficulty was too many vague, uncertain back and forths in order to make the Ann Arbor appt. I let the main number guy know it was going on too long and he promptly made the appt for me- why didn't that just happen in the first place? Luckily the timing was ideal (4-7 days) for me tho- bcs it's actually better to let the buggers grow a little in order to see them if you have them or so I was told. All in all, I think it's well worth it to go to the professionals and let them handle it! read more

Sara and her staff are nothing short of ANGELS. This past Saturday morning i discovered - to my utter HORROR, little bugs on my son's scalp. I picked a couple off (terror growing with each one I found), taped them to a piece of paper to get a good look, Google Imaged "Lice" and sure enough, there they were. Every mom's nightmare come true. It was 7:45 a.m. I called Rapunzel's. SARA ANSWERED! She's like a LICE EXPERT HOTLINE. I don't know what any lice-panicked woman needs more when she discovers lice. Sara talked me down and explained what i needed to do - and JUST AS IMPORTANTLY, what I DIDN'T need to do. TRUST ME: This will save you lots of time and energy and stress over the next few weeks!!! (NOT that it wont still take you all day and half of the next to feel under control but she saved me hours.) My whole family got an appointment for the afternoon and we all got checked (except the little guy we KNEW had lice) for $10 a pop -- a pittance for such peace of mind! The others of us didn't have it but if felt great to know that Rapunzel's would have gotten mine out of my long, thick hair then and there, once and for all, for about $140 if I'd had it. Again, worth every penny for peace of mind. After head checks, we bought ALL NATURAL products (best $80-- $30 head checks, $50 products-- I ever spent!) and came home with detailed instructions, which, for my son with short hair, were quite simple. For me, getting the lice out of his hair was the easy part -- keeping them GONE is the hard part. I even called Rapunzel's later in the week with more questions (which they must answer 1,'000's of times) and got nothing but patience, helpfulness and much needed moral support. I could go on but one last word: You may not care about Rapunzel's right now (or maybe you do, since you're reading this) but when you need them and for peace of mind ever after, i am down on my knees THANKING GOD for Sara and her staff. You know how it is. You're moving along in life, minding your own business and the phone rings. It's your kid's school and they say the words you dread: Your. Kid. Has. Lice. THANK GOD for Rapunzel's. They are thorough and knowledgable. Their place is sparkly clean. They really know their clientele--along with magazines and books, they have hand-held video systems and games. My only suggestion, and it is small, is that they give a discount if more than one person in a family is infected. I think 10% wouldn't cut too much into their profits and would be a great gesture for those of us totally squicked out and crawling with the things. Having lice is awful. Just thinking about my kids getting them makes my scalp itch. We have had to use Rapunzel's services twice. Both times they were effective in getting rid of their lice on the first treatment. Cleared at follow up re-checks. They were fantastic with my special needs daughter who is not a fan of having her hair combed. We use and like the products and would never consider using RID or any of the chemical treatments found at the drug store. The preventative detangler kept them lice free this year! There is enough other work to deal with when your kids have lice. All the bedding, furniture, stuffed animals, hats, coats. You name it we washed or froze it in the car for 2 weeks. After 1 visit to Rapunzel's Lice Boutique we are lice free and I couldn't be happier! We found out on a Sunday night that my 10 year old daughter had lice. I am a clean freak and was MORTIFIED to find these in my daughters hair. I originally did the over the counter RID treatment and combed my daughter out for 5 hours. I was SURE I got every last little critter and nit but just needed to be sure I did some online research to see if there was a business that dealt with helping me out in the lice department. This is how I learned of the AirAlle medical device and Rapunzel's. Sarah, the owner answered my call at 9PM on a Sunday night, I was truly amazed that I got a live person on a late weekend night. The customer service there is incredible. In fact, I had to drive 2 hours to get to her shop and I would do it again in a minute if we we ever get lice again! In the first section of hair, they found a bunch of nits. We decided to proceed with the complete treatment and much to my surprise, they found more nymphs and nits than I could have ever expected. I was so convinced I did such a good job with the over the counter treatment which obviously wasn't the case. I ended up spending over $60 at the pharmacy for nothing. The cost of the AirAlle and comb out treatment is well worth the price and they GUARANTEE it! My daughter has long hair and they do an amazing job on the hair and also make the kids feel at ease. My daughter and I were treated last week at the Farmington location by Amber and I can't express enough gratitude to her! She was great in helping me as a first time mom and first time lice experience in getting through this horrible experience. Recently I found out at bedtime that one of my kids had lice, but I didn't have to worry, because I knew about Rapunzel's from local news articles and from friends who had been there. Still, I wanted some reassurance that I could get help the next day. I sent an email through the Rapunzel's website late in the evening and got a prompt reply from Sarah. The next morning, our whole family went to the Boutique. Great, friendly staff, excellent care, and really helpful advice on how to prevent this whole thing from happening again. Don't waste precious hours or money trying to get rid of lice on your own. Do yourself a favor and make an appointment right away. I wish i knew about this place before I attempted anything at home. My pediatrician recommended this place after four days of my hard work and when I thought the problem was under control. My daughter got lice two weeks ago and I tried the nix. It killed most of the bugs that day and I spent 2 and a half hours combing out nits that day! I put mayo in her hair to suffocate the lice for next two days and it seemed to be working. They were coming down on her eyebrows and going on her pillow at night. They can hold their breath for 6 to 8 hours! I was also combing and nit picking morning, afternoon and night. She has very thick and long hair that I ended up cutting on day 3 or 4. She was in tears the whole time as I was doing this "treatment" on her. I ended up treating her two siblings as they got it two days later and five days later. (Keep in mind I was washing sheets daily, vaccuming carpets, furniture, and mattresses daily). And everyone was wearing shower caps and had assigned seats on couches and chairs in kitchen. None of my ocd helped stop the spread of this!! Day five she went back to school and I thought we were clear. I was still checking morning and night and I would find 5 or 6 nits but no lice. Her siblings had milder case with one treatment and few nits here and there. Day 7 the horror I found a big louse in her hair and like 80 or so nits. I called a lady who did house calls but she wasted my time. She told me I was clear and that my daughter with heavy infestation had two nits otherwise was clear. I picked 40 before she came and 40 more after she left out of her hair!!!! She found a live lice in my other daughters hair so she oiled her. My son was clear but I found few nits after she left. After she left I called Rapunzel and they were so nice on the phone. They offered to get us in the next day but after all that work I thought I'm almost done and why pay all that money after all the work I did. I scheduled an appointment for the two week mark today but Guess what? I found a bug on the floor that was either from me which I think it was or from my son who was in the bathroom right before me. I freaked and made appointment for same day. BEST decision I've ever made!!!! Its pricey but worth it. I had nits but not viable ones so I got the oil treatment and left it in overnight. If their viable that means they will hatch so if u pick em out and put on tissue they are dark. Non viable are clear on tissue and wouldnt have hatched. My daughter with infestation got the air Elle treatment. She had 40 more nits and three live nymphs in her hair. (I checked and combed her that morning and must have missed them)!!!! My other children had two non viable nits and other had 12 non viable so they did oil treatment also and left it in overnight. I bought some extra for the hubby just in case and he slept in it overnight also. In the morning I washed everyone's hair 3 times with Palmolive to get the oil out but very worth it. I bought the enzyme and brush and combed out everyone's hair with that to be sure we are free. I found one nit! We all went back two days later to recheck and all clear!!! Wow what a feeling. I spent about 200 trying to take care of this and I probably had another week or two of work that I couldn't deal with anymore. I spent another 330 at Rapunzel's. I would have probably spent a lot less had I known about this amazing place. I'm trying to get the word out for Rapunzel cause no parent needs to go through all that aggrevation when there's pros out there who get the job done fast!!
