Well... I'm happy to report that my search is over! I went to English & Company the other week for a hair cut and color and am happy to report that my experience was flawless. The color fix and trim with Teresa, the salon's owner turned out to be exactly what I was looking for. It's a simple expectation, really, but one that all the area salons I've been to since now can't seem to deliver on. Other bonuses: - The prices at this salon are MUCH LESS than at other Asheville area salons. I actually asked Teresa to repeat the final charge twice because I was shocked to hear how low it was. Better quality for a lower cost? Sign me up. - The service is pretty impeccable. I originally had my appointment scheduled for a Saturday morning, just when we were expecting a big snowstorm to hit Asheville. I worried that I'd have to skip my appointment and go on an upcoming trip with less-than-decent-looking hair, but to my surprise Teresa called me on the Thursday morning before and asked me if I could come in that night to get my hair done pre-storm. She would have been off that afternoon and evening, but to avoid missed appointments - and an influx of unhappy, haircut-needing people, Teresa stayed at the salon (late) and got all her Saturday appointments in on Thursday. -The salon has a really great atmosphere! It's actually in a tiny house-turned-salon with really "cute" decor. Definitely not your run-of-the-mill commercial space. This made going to the salon a little more fun and it made me feel good to know I was supporting a small local business. Thanks Teresa and English & Company! I'll be back.

I was advised that Danielle was the correct stylist to work with my hair. She took the time to ask several questions to get an idea of what I wanted, and even showed me some pics on her cell phone for reference. Once we were in agreement, Danielle skillfully restyled my hair into a more updated, easy to care for look. I left there with a big grin on my face, very happy with the haircut. I WILL be back in a couple of months for another haircut with Danielle and tweak the hair lengths as my hair gets used to freedom from barrettes and bands. The salon is well appointed with plenty of chairs, the atmosphere here is easy going and relaxing. Prices seem reasonable for services rendered. I would recommend Danielle and Shear Shack highly.
