The staff who I have had the pleasure of dealing with have been lovely and very helpful, without ever seeming put out. The library doesn't have the widest selection of books, but there are still enough to give students the chance to study here and not be too limited by the resources. My time spent here has been fairly limited and mostly it has just been for interviews or to use the library, but I do like the venue and would be happy to study here. Much nicer campus than the older Falkirk building, but the friendly and approachable staff are consistent throughout all of the branches of the college.

I attended Motherwell College when it was on it's old campus, behind Fir Park school. Now, it has…read morebeen given a serious facelift and moved location to the new Ravenscraig Industrial area, which is currently under development, meaning that the college stands alone amongst the vast empty land around it! The building itself is incredibly modern and chic, all glass, so you can see the stairwells and lift shafts which gives it a really modern feel. It is massive and so the intake at this new campus must be at least 1 and a half times bigger than it used to be. I did Indian Head massage class here, which was a night class. I got funded by ILA Scotland, and paid the excesses myself. It was brilliant. I made loads of new pals and learnt a new skill. The teacher was fantastic too. It really is worth checking the website out if you want to do something like that. They also have an excellent drama and performing arts department, and pride themselves in catering for disabled students better than any other college or Uni in the area.

Stow was the first in Scotland to offer Sound Engineering as a course of study and is the college of choice for many budding young musicians and sound engineers in Glasgow. In addition to its great facilities, top of the range equipment and state of the art technology, the toilets are pretty clean too - which is always nice eh? The canteen offers plenty of good grub throughout the day, including a full breakfast for only £2. The only negative thing I can think of is about the grumpy old man that works in the convenience shop, but I doubt it would be the same without him.

Located round the back of the art school, it won't attract tourists, and the large, functional building expresses much of the place's practical intentions, but little of the creativity within. It is a splendid spot for further and adult education, with lots of vocational courses and media-associated subjects. Many of the courses have a strong practical component, and feel more like project work than traditional, lecture based education: a real positive, modern attitude in their practice.

I've gone here frequently for the university's tango society classes and the hall has worked well for that and I assume it's an affordable space. It has nice photos and signs on the walls celebrating 100 years of adult education. The building is very old and getting a wee bit sad around the edges, especially in the toilets, but it is ok.

Whether or not you warm to the Salisbury Centre, and the workshops and classes it hosts, will…read moreprobably depend upon your level of cynicism about new age ideology and phrases such as "holistic education", "blissful healing" and "deeply transformative modality". I generally consider myself quite open to that sort of thing - it's the inner hippie in me - but some of the classes offered here test even my limits of credulity. However, don't let the more, shall we say, far out offerings put you off the centre as a whole, as it does have an exceptionally peaceful atmosphere and the yoga and meditation workshops I've attended have all been pretty sound - the quality just depends on the individual teacher who's running them. If you do want to "awaken the happy you" (who wouldn't?), "experience the light of Christ as healing energy", or even just find a decent yoga class, then check their website to see what courses are coming up.

The body therapist I am seeing for an injury, suggested going along and trying the Hatha Yoga sessions which would help my posture and movement. I signed up for the classes with Aishvarya Lila on a Thursday evening and it has been so beneficial. The centre offers so much in the way of alternative/complimentary therapies, as well as other activities such as pottery classes. There is a nice little organic garden for relaxing in and also a library open to the public. If you are open minded and willing to try alternative/complimentary therapies, this is a great place to come and meet a varied and interesting group of people. Highly recommended, loose comfortable clothing is advised if participating in any of the classes such as Yoga or Tai Chi.

Amongst many other colleges and universities in the area, Central College holds its own, with a great reputation as a business school and for progression to university. I spent two years here, studying Advertising and I was very impressed by the quality of teaching and the hands-on experience that I gained here. The lecturers here are willing to go the extra mile, often using their own industry contacts to bring the course to life and enabling students to get the most out of their learning experience. There are opportunities to travel here too with various courses, including the annual advertising trip to New York, where students are able to visit the some of the biggest advertising agencies in the world and see the industry at work in this amazing atmosphere. With all of that to offer, and they also have their very own Costa Coffee on the first floor of the college, to top it all off. A really great college that I felt equipped me well for my future at university, in my career and beyond.

This community centre is in the heart of Northfield and Willowbrae. It has been here for many…read moreyears. The building still looks old from outside but once you step in it is a different story. The building has lots of large halls. They hold many different clubs for adults and children, educational and fun. They also open late and you can hire the large hall for birthdays parties for an excellent price. They also have a playgroup on during the day for children age 3-4yrs and a mother and toddlers group which you can just go along to. The staff are very friendly and helpfull if you have any questions. There is a cafe here also which has a great selection of food. They are extremly cheep prices and you can sit in or takeaway. Outside is a lovely large playpark and playing field. Each are fenced off and are are very safe with the gates being kept closed. There is a great selection of chutes and swings and is a lovely picnic area in the summer.
