The nursery hours are 8am - 6pm, with an extra charge being incurred for late pickups. Charges are in line with other nurseries and childminders in the area, although seem to increase at a higher rate than is fair. Additional fundraising events took place over the year, which I objected to since fees were already high enough. The nursery itself is a converted house on Wellshot Drive in Cambuslang, just yards from the main doctors surgery. The staff are friendly and seem to get on well with the children. The premises are reasonably clean and secure from people just wandering in. There are a wide variety of activities for the children and regular outings. Sounds ideal! Our problems started with outings in the local area that I was not informed of. All of the children would go for a day out to the soft play or local park and the parents wouldn't know where they were, which can be a problem if you have a family emergency and need to pick up your child before time. The second problem I had with this nursery is that they sometimes didn't change dirty nappies in a timely manner, leaving my little one with a very sore bottom. Also, on one occasion my son was left with a 16 year old work experience girl with no supervision. Finally, and really the straw that broke my back, was that despite being yards from the doctors surgery and assurances that if there was an emergency they would take the child directly to the surgery, they failed to do so and failed to contact me when my son awoke from a nap with blue fingers and lips, stating that they didn't feel this was anything to worry about. Ironically, on the day he was due to leave the nursery I was called to come and get him because he had a loose stool! This nursery is now under new management and may be better managed nowI hope it isbut for the reasons stated I couldn't recommend it. I've given it two stars because I believe the staff are committed and the care is reasonable when there are no complications. I think management were to blame and there is now new management.

I found the Hawthorn Walk branch to be ideal, all of the staff are well mannered and well spoken, and my son still asks for one of his carers from there after leaving 3 months ago. The children had busy days, playing inside and out, had regular "messy time" and went for walks around the area. They also taught the children about brushing their teeth, and my son made some firm friends. The toys here are lovely wooden and high quality, and the babies and tweenies are in one big room together although they are kept separated by a knee high fence. Each keyworker was allocated 3 toddlers, and there were always the right amount of staff per children no matter what time of day I dropped in to pick my wee one up. The only critisism I might have is that the development booklet at the end of my sons time here seemed to have been completed to tick a box, and photos had been taken to illustrate developmental milestones etc, even although they didn't actually relate to the photos. Also my son had lots of good photos taken during his time there, and I didn't get a copy of any despite asking. I've not been quite so impressed with the Wellshot Drive Nursery, but since my son hasn't been there very long I don't think it fair to comment yet, and maybe it's not bad just different.

just recently got a new head teacher mrs sheridan, who took over after mrs dickson retired, a…read morefriendly little school but has the usual problems with bullys,although mrs sheridan seems to be a lot firmer with this . clean school which promotes healthy eating and trys to bring out the best in pupils, they have a different class assemblysover the course of the year and they also put on a xmas and summer show which is also very well receieved in the area , both of them are usually sell outs . the pupils try very hard in these shows and the primary 1s are always amazing to watch and very funny. they have a low turnover of staff as most of the teachers have been here for years, so they must enjoy it

At the start of 6th year I was convinced I wanted to study law at uni but this dull course really put me off to be honest. But hey, I don't think law is the most exciting course and all my friends that do it are constantly complaining at how dull it is. Anyway, my employment course here was as exciting as it could be and it gave me an insight into law. They offer a full range of Highers at the college, HNC and HND courses and they also have a wide range of evening classes. For years I have been saying to myself that I'll do one of the evening jewellery making courses that they have here as I would love to make my own jewellery. I'll get round to it one of these days. The college is also very handy to get to by public transport and there's even a bus stop right outside. Perfect!

My bus journeys aside, it seems that this college has for years attracts many people from all over Glasgow. This has got to be a good sign. I myself have never actually attending a course here, however know quite a few others who have. Subsequently, I can say with conviction that this college offers a wide range of course and flexible learning styles. These are the strongest elements. As for the courses, there is an element of hit and miss, however this is nothing unique and should be expected in any institution. On the whole, I have heard mainly positive response and comments on any courses attended. So, worth having a look at their website if you want to go gain a higher, certificate or just take up a new hobby. I will certainly get round to a cooking course here - some day...

Sunday mornings and Royal Conservatoire Coffee Concerts are a match made in heaven. What an…read moreinspired idea, and at just £10 for coffee, cake and a concert (£7.50 concessions) an absolute bargain! I was lucky enough to make the very first Coffee Concert of the season and it was a useful introduction to the venue and what it might offer to the general public. Coffee and cake was served in the cafe post-concert where the performers and organisers mingled and chatted with an enthusiastic audience. Nice touch. Aside from an varied programme of concerts and performing arts staged by students past and present and visiting world-class talents, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (previously known as RSAMD) has a Box Office and large cafe at its main entrance up those imposing steps. The corridor between the cafe and the Stevenson Hall (where the coffee concert was held) is lined with photos of the college's alumni - a veritable who's who of the arts, music and theatrical world. I was absolutely blown away by the acoustics at the Stephenson Hall which really did justice to the singers and musicians who provided us with a terrific show. The seats in the auditorium were very comfortable with ample leg room but then I'm a bit shorter than the average person! Tip #1: If you need more leg room in the Stevenson Hall then select an end of aisle seat (at the stairway) in one of the blocks of stalls either side of the main block of seating. Hope that makes sense? Tip #2: If you are looking for somewhere very inexpensive to eat, drink and/or meet up in town the cafe here may be just the ticket. Geared mainly for students but also open to the public the daily specials included vegetarian and vegan dishes (hurrah). A generous cup of tea cost 80p and a Dear Green Coffee cost £1.40 (in a lidded cup so you can take it away if you want). Tip #3: Ample sockets available for charging phones and laptops (and possibly free wifi but don't quote me) Pop in and check it out for yourself if you haven't already done so and keep an eye out for their events programme.

Stow was the first in Scotland to offer Sound Engineering as a course of study and is the college of choice for many budding young musicians and sound engineers in Glasgow. In addition to its great facilities, top of the range equipment and state of the art technology, the toilets are pretty clean too - which is always nice eh? The canteen offers plenty of good grub throughout the day, including a full breakfast for only £2. The only negative thing I can think of is about the grumpy old man that works in the convenience shop, but I doubt it would be the same without him.

Located round the back of the art school, it won't attract tourists, and the large, functional building expresses much of the place's practical intentions, but little of the creativity within. It is a splendid spot for further and adult education, with lots of vocational courses and media-associated subjects. Many of the courses have a strong practical component, and feel more like project work than traditional, lecture based education: a real positive, modern attitude in their practice.

From my limited experiences of this institution I've mixed feelings. On one hand I think that new…read moreuniversities such as Cally, Napier, etc devalue higher education to some extent. They require few grades to get in and since their inception in 1992 the student population has grown to ridiculous levels, resulting in an over-populated graduate employment market and not enough jobs to go round. As a result many graduates find themselves rotting in call centres for years after their studies. On the other hand, Cally does seem to be well regarded in the I.T and science sectors, is one of the best places in the U.K if you want to study physiotherapy, and has an extremely vocational outlook in the subjects it offers. It also has incredibly modern facilities, the jewel in the crown being the futuristic looking library which is a far nicer study venue than the one at Strathclyde, which wouldn't look out of place on the wrong side of the Berlin Wall. Though the after-class scene has got a bit livelier in recent years, Cally students are mainly local kids still living at home or mature students and don't often stick around after 5pm and so the campus still has a bit of a day college feel to it, resulting in a fairly diluted university experience for many here. If you're planning on studying in Glasgow then Caledonian is obviously worth considering, but in most cases if you can get in elsewhere you'll be better off.

The campus is all self contained which is excellent and the library links the different buildings together so that once you go inside, you dont have to go wandering around in the rain (as was once often the case all too often). It has a wide range of clubs and activities on offer in addition to a brilliant careers service and gym, with a notably excellent international students supports service. As such, the intake for international students is high. It is a lively place, with a bustling student body and committed staff who guided me safely through an Undergraduate Psychology degree. They are also very flexible with disabled students and offer great student support, in general.

The classes are taught in a workshop style usually set at three different levels: complete beginner, intermediate and advanced. So there really is a place for everyone. Unlike the 40 or 50 quid you have to shell out for 5-a-side football facilities across the city, Knightswood Secondary gym hall is available for hire for a paltry ten pounds. The set-up is basic - an indoor hall, a couple of goals, small changing room and truly awful showers. However, the value for money is terrific, while the heat generated in the hall will ensure you sweat out all of the gunk that remains in your system from a rough weekend. Availability is an issue given it is used by many of the school's clubs, but it's defintiely worth enquiring about.
