I'd postponed it on my last visit to Tullahoma so I'd have something to look forward to on my NEXT inevitable visit, so safe to say anticipation had really built! I arrived around 2:45 and came into a moderately busy coffee house. The acoustics are such it's a little hard to hear if groups are visiting inside, so maybe not the best place to work or read quietly. That's fine, I was going to get my stuff to go anyway. The interior is very cute and thoughtfully decorated and even has a selection of Celtic themed gifts. Service was...surly. The barista spoke very softly and slowly in a very apathetic tone and did not seem interested in answering questions or sharing about the products. I got an iced bonfire mocha (I was very quickly and somewhat harshly corrected about the sizes available to order it in). The pastries looked absolutely amazing so I got a coconut cream scone and a hazelnut pastry to go. They did offer to warm the scone for me, which I accepted. My items took an average amount of time to come out to me. I headed out immediately since I wanted to get home and didn't feel that welcome anyway. So.... That bonfire mocha, yall. It's a spicy mocha, with a dusting of cayenne on top. Allegedly. I've had mochas like this before. They're often made spicy with cinnamon and/or cayenne. I've enjoyed the ones I've tried very much (the version of it at Gold Sprint in Huntsville is delicious!) so I was excited for this one. It had me completely convinced I'd somehow made the barista furious without knowing how. I am fairly heat-tolerant and like spicy stuff and it had me absolutely on FIRE. I thought maybe I'd accidentally gotten a sip of cayenne straight from the top, so I tried mixing it up and drinking from another spot with my straw. Nope. I tried multiple times, coughing up a storm the whole time. But the whole thing was crazy spicy. Inedibly (un-drinkably?) spicy. The cayenne went straight to the back of my throat and sat there scalding me for a long time. I was so sad. The only reason this isn't a 1 star is the coconut cream scone. It was supposed to be heated up...I can't say it was much more than a little above room temperature. But I munched on it in my car and thought it was pretty good. A little dry, as many scones tend to be, but the coconut glaze and cream was flavorful and silky. I enjoyed it. I planned on sharing the hazelnut pastry with my husband later. However, I examined it when I got home (mind you, I hadn't opened it since after leaving the restaurant) only to find...a short, slightly curly black hair attached (baked in?) to it. Facepalm. Straight to the trash it went, regrettably. No idea if it was good or not. It looked good, except for the hair. An incredibly disappointing visit. I'm really sad to write this review. Hopefully I just came on a really off day.

The salmon was cooked perfectly, and the rosemary scones were wonderful. My mom had the Portobello mushroom and really enjoyed it. The winter vegetables and mashed potatoes were so good we cleaned our plates. The salad was the perfect size, and the Christmas pudding with tea was a lovely ending. The performers were a real family--parents and their children--and their chemistry made the show especially charming. We attended the final night, complete with playful moments and laughter. A little long, but well-paced with the meal between acts. This could easily become a new Christmas tradition.

Backroad Brew came up as on my route so I set out to try them! Backroad is not an exaggeration; I don't know if I could've found this place without Google Maps. It's in a cute little building that almost resembles a bougie shed. Drive through only. They have a fairly large menu of coffee combinations, Lotus energy drinks, and some healthy-ish treats like acai bowls and apple nachos. Service was a breath of fresh air after my encounter earlier in the day. The gentleman was incredibly friendly and eager to answer my questions and make recommendations. After a little bit of back and forth, I was sold on a Lotus energy drink that he said was his favorite creation. I forget what all flavors exactly it had in it, but definitely blue raspberry and white peach. They have a really cool canning type machine that lets them close your drinks with a pop top, so you can drink it like you would a canned soda. I was thrilled by this little invention and he used it to make my drink. So fun! I enjoyed the taste of my beverage. It was slightly carbonated, tart, and fruity. It had a really powerful initial flavor that sort of quickly faded as I drank it. It's hard to describe but hardly an unforgivable sin, lol. I just wish it had retained its punchiness throughout the duration of each sip rather than in just the initial taste. All in all, though, a yummy drink served by kind and welcoming people. This will be my choice for coffee/caffeine the next time I'm up in the Tullahoma area. They have fun seasonal specials and I'm sure I'll enjoy trying new drinks on each visit. :)

Their menu has sandwiches, pizza, and coffee drinks. I intended to eat lunch because I was hungry. It was around 1:30 in the afternoon on a Monday and there was absolutely no one in there. An employee came out from the back after a minute or two, but the eerily empty environment and somewhat odd smell in the space dissuaded me from actually ordering a meal. Instead, I wound up ordering a small iced white chocolate mocha to go. It was pricy for a small iced coffee -- over $6. The employee went to the back to fix it for me. It took a few minutes but nothing unreasonable. She brought it back out to me in a cup that looked like a hot latte cup, but it was fortunately made correctly and iced. Overall, it was...fine. Not super creamy, pretty thin and almost watery instead of milky consistency. Decent white chocolate flavor but not a ton of coffee flavor. For the price, I probably wouldn't get it again, but it was serviceable. I dunno, I feel like I'm maybe being a little unfair because of my overall poor experience in town, but given the one thing I tried was resoundingly average, I guess I stick by my 3 star rating. Hoping for a more successful venture the next time I return to town.

They offer shakes, smoothies, juices, fat burners, energy boosters, and plenty more!
