After awhile, I had all I could take so I called him on it and he simply said "I'm sorry you feel that way" That's when I knew I had to get out of there...I said "we're going to go think about this" and I abruptly stood up, (while he remained seated) at this point Terry came over as I told Shawn "this is the point when you should stand up, shake our hand and offer another condolences." 10 steps from the desk, we are now in the archway to the foyer (Shawn is still sitting at the desk in his casual wear) when I turn to the older gentleman (Terry) and say "if I calm down and we come back, can we deal directly with you?" He offered no apology and said "that would be fine" There is no excuse for this lack of human compassion that left us feeling this way. Shawn of Minor Morris just lost a large sale due to poor customer service. Fortunately I was able to enlist the services of James Funeral Home in Aurora, IL. (40 miles away) where we were respectfully treated with dignity and respect. They did an outstanding job with all the ceremonial trimmings. Unfortunately we still ended up paying Minor Morris $300+ for transporting our beloved 5 miles. I'm disappointed that my sister spent one second in the care of a compassionless funeral home. From the time we had to make the call for them to pick up our loved one from the hospital to coordinating the services, the casket, vault to preparing for the final resting place. Mrs. Morris' gentle demeanor was so professional yet compassionate. I'd never had to plan a homegoing for a loved one and her ability to patiently wait for me to stop crying will forever be remembered. The method in which they use to prepare the deceased body is nothing short of a miracle. You would have thought sickness and cancer had never occurred. It was AMAZING! Kelly M. at O'Neil is an absolute ANGEL (She even kinda looks like one!) She sweetly and sympathetically walked my family and I through each step, covering every single thing that needed to be done and helped to clarify decisions that were difficult, which I'm sure IS her job, but she truly excels at it! I believe she went above and beyond to get my family and I through it all as quickly and as painlessly as possible. Actually, every single employee that I encountered at O'Neil showed the utmost professionalism in the nicest, most sincere possible way! The facility itself is absolutely gorgeous! I've been told that it was recently remodeled (prior to my use of it in summer 2012) so I do not know what it looked like previously, but I can tell you it is most definitely a comfortable and warmly welcoming, yet classy place. Last month another family member passed away and the family IMMEDIATELY went to O'Neil for the arrangements, even though they used other facilities regularly in the past, everyone was so extremely impressed with O'Neil while attending my Husband's wake and funeral that it will be the only facility our families will ever use from now on.

Now no one likes going to a wake (especially me), but after walking up the stairs to this very old establishment, I found myself in a very comfortable place...both mentally and physically. It felt like I was in someone's home, and where better to say goodbye to someone than at "home"? Plenty of parking both in back and across the street in the front made access a breeze and the whole town surrounding Goodale has plenty of charm and character. There's even a wine bar down the street if you want to raise a glass to a newly departed friend. A nice way to say "so long", if you asked me. And since I'm Irish, that's exactly what we did, too.
