Again before i would get free letter from them for my blood test, twice a year but last time i went, i was told that i have to see the doctor first to get the letter and pay 55 euros, i was really upset, when i am not sick why should i see a doctor and pay 55 euros. i am really disappointed with them and i can't afford to pay that much every time i need repeat prescription and letter for blood test, so i have decide to look for another doctor whom i can afford to pay.

And…read morewell I did something to my big toe, and after suffering for a bit it occurred to me that the frozen peas might not be the medical experts i took them for. Anyway I had previously noticed this new(ish) walk in Dr's surgery, which I thought I could use. Mostly I use the college doc but it was too far to hobble. So off I hobbled to this surgery with its odd, but actually quite convenient opening hours. The reception area is a bit off-putting. There is no receptionist... but there is CCTV and it's assumed that the waiters will organise themselves in the order in which they came into the holding area (it honestly felt more like a holding area than a waiting room). With the austere surroundings I though the doctors would not be nice, but actually the doctor I met with was really lovely and quite sympathetic to my dislocated (as it turns out) toe. The price of the visit was pretty high too, higher than my own GP by a bit. All in all the place was handy in my hobbling 'emergency' but I wouldn't like to go their regularly... it's bad enough feeling sick without going somewhere that makes you feel like you've also committed a crime. Yes, these things matter!

I went to the Rafters for 3 years first to Dr Yvonne Rafter who showed absolutely no signs of any interest in my presence or of being a GP. Then to Dr Dermot Rafter. Though he was more compassionate or caring, I had a bad experience when I went in for travel vaccinations. You'd think when your GP advertises that they provide these vaccinations they would know what you need. Imagine my surprise when he started consulting a chart and then the Internet (right there in front of me!). On one of my followups he didn't even have the vaccination required! If this wasn't bad enough, the vaccinations ended up costing over 100 euro more than what was quoted in the beginning. This was the final straw for me and I have not been back since. When you're paying a premium, as I did in the Rafter office, you would expect the doctor to at least have done his homework before you arrive. For this reason, I must give a bad review.

I attended this clinic in August 2014 when I managed to get a concussion from a fall I had at…read moretraining. It was my first time at the clinic. I had no problem getting an appointment on the Monday morning that I rang and I wasn't waiting long when I got there. I went to see Dr. Flynn. He listened to my symptoms and took his time running through some simple neurological exams to rule out any major problems. He advised me to follow up with an MRI in A&E and to call him if my symptoms got worse. I had some ups and downs throughout the week following the concussion. Dr. Flynn kept in contact with me throughout and called me back within 20mins max of leaving a measage (which I have found to be a rare thing based on previous experiences with GPs). The appointment cost €60 which is reasonable for a GP in Dublin. I wasn't charged an admin fee for an additional sick note I required a few days after my initial appointment. I have to say, if I end up staying another year in the Barrow Street area, I'll be switching my medical records to this practice. The best GP I've seen to date.

(enjoyed as in thought she was a good doctor with a great personality and attentive and helpful; not in some other perverted way!) the guy who replaced her, Dr. Karagiannis (had to look that one up. heh.), is also really good. i have a long history of weird, undiagnosable health issues and a long string of horrible, useless doctors. so when i went in to see Dr. K, i had a small list of issues i wanted to have addressed. i went in and said "i hope you have a bit of time cuz i have a bit of a list" :) it was cool because he didn't cringe and run away, but actually sat down and listened to problem after complaint after malady without rolling his eyes or dismissing me. he was happy to order a full panel of blood tests and discuss what they were all for - he even included a test for thyroid antibodies which is a notoriously difficult test to get a doctor to agree to do apparently. and once we were done with all that, he asked me again to look over my list to make sure i didn't miss anything. and even at the end when i reluctantly brought up an expired prescription for anxiety meds that i'd had before i moved here from the states (for the odd bout of insomnia), he happily offered to refill it without sending me through the long ugly process of getting re-evaluated by a head doctor over here. i was pleasantly surprised and happy when i left the office. when the blood tests came in, he didn't just have his assistant call me to tell me what was up, he actually had me come back in to discuss them. now i don't know if this sort of thing is normal in ireland, but compared to my 30 second wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am visits to GPs over in the states, all of my experiences going to the doctors at Barrow Medical have been fantastic. they make me feel like a human being and not a walking bag of symptoms to be medicated and sent away. i appreciate that. and hopefully you will too :)

They gave me an appointment within that day even though I wasn't a patient in the practice. I was waiting quite a while after I arrived, but I feel like that is often the case with most doctors! The doctor I saw was really nice & friendly, she made me feel totally relaxed. Hopefully I won't have to, but I would certainly go back to her if I were sick again!

I have to say I never thought I'd be writing a five star review for a doctor! They are usually so…read moreuninterested and keen to write out scripts, that I never feel like I've done some good spending with my 50 - 70 yoyos. Went here for the first time earlier, and was greeted with the friendliest GP I've ever come across. She sat down beside me and just listened, then chatted with me as if she were a friend, offered solid advice and many options to suit me, and was even eager to save me money on a few things. Besides this, when I arrived in the centre, I had to wait a max of 3-4 minutes before being seen. The place is smack bang in the middle of Smithfield, so really easy access-wise, and it's pretty brand new, so nice and bright, airy and clean looking. Overall, my visit gave me full confidence in their abilities, something I'd very rarely say about any visit to a GP centre!
