I took my toddler just to explore and see what they have to offer for his age range and I was pleasantly surprised and impressed by the amount of resources. When I pulled into the parking lot, there were plenty of places to park. I also noticed a place to charge electric cars! Nice touch to a modern day facility. There is a blood pressure station as soon as you walk in. I tried to check mine, but my toddler wouldn't let me sit still long enough. When then walked to the front desk and they showed us to the children's area. It was super inviting with multiple stations to learn and play! There were coloring sheets, puzzles, legos, blocks, and so much more. I also loved the unique reading areas with a huge selection of books! We checked out four of them! I loved the outdoor play area. It's so kid friendly and clean. The staff were absolutely amazing! They were helpful. Matter of fact, they selected the books for me to check out. My toddler got a little fussy and they didn't hesitate to assist. I appreciate them for that. This will definitely be somewhere we add to our weekly routine. Love it!

No matter when I visit, it never seems crowded. There are tennis courts, a pond (with ducks), a pavilion, a playground, and a big open field that's perfect for playing. It's also the home of a historical home. The John Gray house is one of the oldest brick residences in Shelby County. It was originally located in Eads, but was moved to Municipal Park in 1989 for preservation. I've never been inside; every time I've been at the park, its doors have been locked. After a bit of enthusiastic jumping up and down (I'm short, and the windows are high up), I can report that the house is furnished as it probably would have been when it was built in the mid-1800s. Municipal Park is right next to the Germantown public library, which makes it a perfect place to catch up on your reading. The open field is perfect for picnics, and the playground has a huge jungle gym and swings.

I had a police officer come to my home to serve an order of protection to my spouse this afternoon…read more The male black police officer was so kind and professional with me. The police officer asked me multiple times if I was ok and if I needed anything. I was so grateful for this police officer. I live in a suburb outside of Memphis. I have called the police in the past in the suburb that I live in for domestic issues. It was a joke how poorly my situation was handled by the suburban police officers. I was born and raised in Memphis, Hickory Hill. It does break my heart to see what has happened with the level of crime in Memphis. I can't imagine what all the Memphis police staff deals with every day and night. If I need any assistance again, I won't bother calling the police where I live. It honestly wouldn't do any good. I would call the Memphis Police. I know that they would do everything in their legal power to help me.

I either get handed down to a different person being that I'm talking to the wrong person or I get somebody that's supposed to be in the right department but tells me how to help the situation instead of them finding the solution!!!! I have met with the chief deputy Muse under Mayor Young, I have spoken with my city councilman Ms Walker, I have spoken with different code enforcement supervisors for the city and the county, I have also spoken to the assistant to Mayor Young and I have gotten absolutely nowhere!!!!! It is all lip service and all they want to tell you is how you can help the situation instead of them working on finding the solution to our problems here in Memphis city and Shelby county Tennessee. I would like to know again why we elect people that are not committed to finding the solution!!!!!! Everyone I have talked to this year has told me what to do instead of them saying let me help resolve the problem!!!!! This is very very sad. You wonder why people are giving up and they don't care!!!!

It's easy to walk right past the marker on the corner of South Front Street and G.E. Patterson in…read moreMemphis without realizing you're standing where the city's very first telephone rang to life. Just a simple plaque, no fanfare. But lean in close, and the past starts talking. Back in 1877, before smartphones, before dial tones, before anyone could shout "Can you hear me now?", a railroad superintendent named Mike Burke picked up a brand-new contraption and made a call from his house to the train office. That call was the spark--Memphis's first step into the modern, buzzing world of communication. Now the marker stands quiet among trains, traffic, and city hum. It doesn't need neon lights or a museum around it. Its power is in its simplicity. It marks a moment when a voice crossed a wire and everything changed. Standing there, it's kind of wild to think: this little corner, now mostly walked past without a glance, is where Memphis first connected. Where someone spoke, someone answered, and the world got just a little smaller.
