We hopped on Yelp and saw that French Village was just down the street, so we just walked on over. For a Saturday morning it was quite busy, but we were lucky to get a table for 4 people right away. They have a pretty standard breakfast menu with your typical french toast, pancakes, bagel, hash, scrambled eggs, etc. Between the four of us, we pretty much ordered the whole menu, which was great because that means I got to try a bit of everything. For myself I ordered the bagel with cream cheese and smoked salmon. It was good, but I don't think it was exactly what I was feeling that morning. I really enjoyed bites of their raspberry & white chocolate pancakes and frech toast though. I'd definitely recommend that if you've got a sweet tooth. On top of that, we got an assortment of different coffees and smoothies at our table. I went for a soy milk latte for myself and a strawberry banana smoothie. Both hit the spot perfectly. Service was a little spotty. Our waters were never really refilled (and on a hungover morning, endless water is a necessity), and our server looked a bit angry to be there. The manager came around to see how everything was doing though, which was great! They have a bakery on the other side of the restaurant (where you go to pay), and have an assortment of macarons, muffins, and other baked goods. Before we left, we got a small box of macarons to share and they were lovely! I can't remember all the flavours we got, but everything I tried was delicious. I ate in it a few times, and they've a decent menu covering the usual sorts of things - sandwiches, baked potatoes, chicken dishes, lasagne, roast dinners, etc. It's seems to be another of those "depends who's working" sort of places. I had a chicken dinner in it one time, with mashed potatoes, vegetables, gravy, and all the trimmings for around £8, and it was a really good Sunday dinner. However, on another occasion I had the lamb, which was so unbelievably tough that I bent the fork when trying to cut it! They do a good "clean" fry as well (see Biddy Duffy's review), but the thing with this place is that you always seem to be waiting forever. It's not unusual to wait a half an hour for your food in here, which is quite a wait. There's a sign that mentions something about fresh food taking longer to prepare but, unless you're out the back saying your last goodbyes to the pig, there's no reason for something as simple as a fry taking half an hour - nor are any of their dishes special enough to justify that sort of wait. The selection of burgers is excellent (for a van). Try the bacon and cheese legend. Simple but effective. They do fries too but if you're going to queue up you'd be crazy not to get a real Irish burger. Hard to pick any faults with this van or company other than the mile long queue, but sure at a sports match you pick the stall with the biggest queue anyway.
