Clean, fresh, warm and welcoming with a huge choice, a good sized portion and a very decent price. The shop itself reminds me of a French deli with all the gorgeous cheeses on display and the shelves which are home to dips, spreads and chutneys! Seriously this is my kind of place! I once had a white chocolate cheesecake in here many moons ago and the image and taste are well engraved in my memory - it looked like something out of a magazine and the taste was thick, creamy yet melting and amazing. I sound like a freak but I will never forget it - haven't tasted one like it since. I can't rave about this place and the food enough - just go, you'll love it!

I'm told they also cater for functions and although have never experienced this side of the business if the food here is anything to go by it'll be a win win combination!!

We hopped on Yelp and saw that French Village was just down the street, so we just walked on over. For a Saturday morning it was quite busy, but we were lucky to get a table for 4 people right away. They have a pretty standard breakfast menu with your typical french toast, pancakes, bagel, hash, scrambled eggs, etc. Between the four of us, we pretty much ordered the whole menu, which was great because that means I got to try a bit of everything. For myself I ordered the bagel with cream cheese and smoked salmon. It was good, but I don't think it was exactly what I was feeling that morning. I really enjoyed bites of their raspberry & white chocolate pancakes and frech toast though. I'd definitely recommend that if you've got a sweet tooth. On top of that, we got an assortment of different coffees and smoothies at our table. I went for a soy milk latte for myself and a strawberry banana smoothie. Both hit the spot perfectly. Service was a little spotty. Our waters were never really refilled (and on a hungover morning, endless water is a necessity), and our server looked a bit angry to be there. The manager came around to see how everything was doing though, which was great! They have a bakery on the other side of the restaurant (where you go to pay), and have an assortment of macarons, muffins, and other baked goods. Before we left, we got a small box of macarons to share and they were lovely! I can't remember all the flavours we got, but everything I tried was delicious. If you're in the University area, definitely a good spot to check out for a nice breakfast.

This is a pretty popular local eatery, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It's another of those…read moretraditional style places, and has those regal looking wooden chairs with the high backs. I've never been terribly impressed with it though. I ate in it a few times, and they've a decent menu covering the usual sorts of things - sandwiches, baked potatoes, chicken dishes, lasagne, roast dinners, etc. It's seems to be another of those "depends who's working" sort of places. I had a chicken dinner in it one time, with mashed potatoes, vegetables, gravy, and all the trimmings for around £8, and it was a really good Sunday dinner. However, on another occasion I had the lamb, which was so unbelievably tough that I bent the fork when trying to cut it! They do a good "clean" fry as well (see Biddy Duffy's review), but the thing with this place is that you always seem to be waiting forever. It's not unusual to wait a half an hour for your food in here, which is quite a wait. There's a sign that mentions something about fresh food taking longer to prepare but, unless you're out the back saying your last goodbyes to the pig, there's no reason for something as simple as a fry taking half an hour - nor are any of their dishes special enough to justify that sort of wait. Waiting staff are friendly and polite though.

The shop is located about 50 yards from Shaftsbury square, so is handy to anyone living or operating around Botanic or the Dublin road. If you are wanting a luxurious place to stay in, think again. The inside is small, but has sitting room for about ten, with seats outside for whenever the weather is good, or when people are feeling particularly brave in the Belfast winter! However most people are going to be taking food away,a dn that is where Flour Power comes into its own. it makes its delicious fillings on site. For example, it's succulent chicken tikka is real marinated, high quality fare compared to the guff from a tub you get in most places! There are a wide range of wraps, baguettes, rolls, salads and melts on offer, and the courteous staff, controlled by the owner Jonny will provide you with what you need with an infectious warmth and genuine enthusiasm. The business name is also a beautful pun. That is for me the icing on a most delicious cake!
