Went shopping last night and stopped by the premade meals area. The chicken looked fine but I remember seeing the same baked potatoes a week ago in the same place so we steered clear. Jusy pulled the chicken out and I noticed these white spots, we literally bought it yesterday. this gives me pretty big concerns about the hygiene of the store :/ otherwise shopping at this location has been a pleasure! Went to pick up a curbside grocery order the other day for the first time. Associate was prompt and friendly, and unloaded my items carefully however when I got home, I noticed that one of my croutons was open, and the lettuce they gave me was already browning. I went to customer service the following morning but was told they do not open until 8am by the lady that was in self checkout and she proceeded to walk away. Here comes Jose to the rescue! After he was done bagging up groceries, he came by to ask me if he could assist me. And so I told him my issue, he then said no problem, he will replace my items. A few minutes later, he came back with the freshest lettuce, sealed croutons plus extra and a free salad dressing and an apology even though he was not the one that messed up my curbside pickup. Great place to stock up up on supplies. In fact it might be the only place, at least the only large grocery store on the island. I'm not sure if that's true, as we didn't really look. This location was just too convenient. Close to the beach, and close to the place we were staying (Super 8 Galveston). Nice friendly vibe and good prices. I was rather expecting an island markup, but prices were reasonable. Bottom line: If your on vacation, and heading to Houston, don't forget to check for the discount tickets for the Houston Space Center. Nicole, Randalls' Employee, distinguished herself by providing excellent service above and beyond what I would ever have expected. After finding my undelivered order from the previous day, Nicole took it upon herself to ensure a customer's order would be delivered. Ignoring any possibility of confronting an irate customer, Nicole fearlessly took responsibility and made contact with me. Nicole's customer relation skills allowed her to calmly and patiently to listen to me tell of my frustrating delivery experience. She then empathized and insured me she would resolve the issue. Nicole's knowledge of the customer order and delivery procedures, allowed her to establish a new delivery time quickly. Then she went beyond the norm, by guaranteeing the delivery, "if needed" would be delivered by herself. After her shift was completed, the order had still not been picked up for delivery. So as promised, Nicole took her personal time to make the delivery to my door. Nicole's integrity and dedication to Randalls and its customers are beyond reproach. Like the bakery and yearly get birthday cakes. Disappointed, I knew something wrong with zero person at bakery, they weren't busy so to pass time I checked out at register with few items then told cashier & back to bakery nobody showed. I find myself gravitating more and more to this store on the last few weeks. Everyone seems pretty friendly, and the store smells clean which is always a plus. For a store that traditionally back in the day, didn't sell beer or wine, they sell a nice selection of wines. I tried a nice Coppola Malbec, which is hard to find. As a corollary, Galveston is wired; they have had a Safeway, (a Randalls affiliate, and a HEB in the same location, but the Randalls remained. Guess they're doing the right things. read more

This location always seem is severely understaffed. Wait for the lines are long, and the employees attitudes are always very poor. We actually had a checkout girl take a telephone call while we were checking out and she basically stopped checking us out for this call which definitely did not sound very important She was complaining that she had been working since 8 AM. This was about 8:30 PM. Long day. On the same trip at the deli the worker was far less than enthusiastic even to assist us. As far as accuracy, she gave us twice the amount of cheese that we asked for but given her attitude we couldn't wait to get away fast enough. We shop at Randles locations around Houston and this is not typical. Hopefully Management will see this and take some corrective action before this store goes completely down the tubes. read more

Very unprofessional hiring process. If you are looking to get a job here I would look elsewhere, management is absent and unhelpful. I worked hard everyday and got defaced for no reason. My department had no manager or training and never got the information I needed. I have never worked for a company so unorganized and unhelpful. Lazy management creates lazy work ethic. read more

In some bakeries, they use a runny chocolate color dispenser and are extremely artistic and can create spectacular replicas of whatever you can conceive .... surely Randalls can do better and avoid this. I am sure even an unwilling or untalented associate can do a lot better than this. The PPs stuck to the cover when a coke bottle fell on it while in the shopping cart ...but the art work is Randalls'. read more

The customer service at this Randall's is really bad. Came in to buy a bicycle which they have been selling all summer long and all of the sudden nobody knows how to ring one up and they've lost the key to the chain where the bicycles are at. The manager is clueless and the customer service person is just as bad and with a bad attitude. No wonder Randalls stores are closing read more

This store is some where I shopped weekly when I lived in Galveston and now I am a frequent customer of the Leander, Tx store. Let me tell you, you should definitely not shop qt this store. My review is long, but you should know about how these employees treat people! Example 1: I was in here a few weeks ago when visiting my parents and went to the deli counter. There was an older gentleman asking the deli employee questions and she was legit sighing, drumming her nails and rolling her eyes at him! My mouth was literally hanging open at the amount of disregard and disrespect. I looked around to see if anyone else was seeing what I was seeing and there was another customer also looking aghast. (Beyond that at this same visit they forgot to put several items in my bags and I didn't notice until I got home, a 20 minute drive.) Example 2: Today's experience has me convinced (and my Mother) to never use this store again! My grandmother passed away a few days ago, so I am in town helping my parents (context), because of family visiting, we popped by Randall's to grab a few things. My mom got into the 'Express line' to check out. The checkout lady watches my mom unload her basket, I added my few things to the pile and she looks at us and says "This is more than 15 items." Deadpan. Not any context. So my mom blinks several times (the lady still hasn't started scanning) and asks her "Do I need to move lanes? I didn't know it was 15 items?" (The lane says Express above it, not 15 items) The girl didn't even bother to respond! She just shrugged and started scanning. When a guy got in line behind us, she said to him "Sorry about this..." rolled her eyes and motioned to my Mom. My mother was SO embarrassed! She paid in a hurry, left the store and started to cry on the way to the car. She was very emotional because of my grandmother's death and this was just too much for her. She has lived on Galveston for 50 years and she is the friendliest person on earth. To see her so upset literally broke my heart. And when I looked at my receipt? 21 items. SO SORRY. I just cant ever walk in this store again and not think of the terrible attitude of these employees who were so mean to an elderly man and made my Mom cry. Don't do pickup here. I was told that my groceries were ready only to drive there and wait an hour. While in the parking lot, I called to make sure there wasn't a problem only to be told that my order was in fact NOT ready. I asked for a refund. Instead, the manager wanted to have them delivered to me. I never received them, nor did I receive any communication. I called back the next day. They wanted me to drive back and get groceries. I again told them I just wanted a refund and a cancellation. I am waiting to see if that's actually done. I have only tried Randall's pickup two times before now. In the same family as Tom Thumb, if you have a Tom Thumb card, make sure to bring it! I stopped by during my weekend getaway and saw some amazing deals. The customer service had just closed and even though there were still people behind the counter they would not allow me to get a card, went back the next day to register a shoppers card for the deals and had to jump through so many hoops just for a sale. I have the card now so I feel elite when i use it at my local Tom Thumb, but seriously the customer service is highly lacking. There is a kiosk to set up a shoppers card but they keep the unactivated cards locked away. If they had cards available anyone could get a card without needing any assistance. read more

I tend to prefer Randall's over Kroger, simply because we tend to stay toward the West End, so it's more convenient for us. The selection is roughly the same as K, as is pricing, and I prefer Randall's produce over all. It's also nice not to fight the Seawall crowd. We usually make a Spec's run (in the same strip) then hit Randall's for bagels, lox, cream cheese & other important provisions. Make sure to get your rewards card, it adds up here pretty quickly. Everyone's always been friendly to us, but apparently YMMV. read more

I'm in the middle!! I like Randalls but many times and just recently I pic up meat and many were already a week expired in lunch meat. Fried Chicken in Deli I served to my kids and "my son walked over to me and said "mom look there's blood in it".. The second time was chicken strips & were literally stale, dry & crumbly. What has me upset & disappointed is I believe the manager is burned out, stressed out, employees or ? I'm Basically upset because the food items via meat were all for the purpose of serving "to my kids". I will always check and Never buy poultry from Deli..... The Bakery has had 3 cakes order mishaps twice sitting out for hours & icing melted, once a total different name was on cake. Also lady in Bakery said "I could not order a 3 layer cake which I and others have always done. Via Randalls I now just do produce, dairy, frozen and water. Beware of "Deli" poultry!!! Either stale dry crumble old or Raw... Sandwiches are safe bet because they sell quick which prevents expiring.... Just keep checking dates in Deli and store area... This is my number one stop for groceries on the island. Why? It's not located on the Seawall and full of tourists like Kroger and Walmart. Don't get me wrong, I love Kroger but I would like to walk freely while grocery shopping and not feeling that claustrophobic ache when trying to get around Rascals and rude people that think because they have kids they are welcome to take up the whole aisle at their convenience. Randall's can get pretty busy but it's definitely a breath of fresh air in comparison. Their prices are pretty standard to me. Some say that Randall's is more expensive, but if you have the Randall's card you can pretty much find a good deal on anything in the store. Like Kroger, they also have the gas points where you spend $100 and get 10 cents off each gallon of gas you purchase. They also have a RedBox and a Starbucks. read more

It's clean and well stocked by I swear prices are much higher than anywhere else in the island especially their pre made items in deli bakery area. Sub par here. I own a home here and also feel they hike the prices during peak seasons. Just seems so much higher. I usually go to HEB in the league area or hit the Walmart where prices seem stabler. read more
