Kamikaze bugs. Vicious. Blood thirsty flying freaks of nature. If they can't get a bite, they'll shoot right smack in your face, in your ears, they'll burrow in under your hair, attack you in mobs, relentless, merciless, hurling their entire insect body at you with the energy of a pellet from a pellet gun. They don't even need to bite you. They just hurl themselves at you at full speed. It sounds like rain, but it's just them smacking you. They'll circle your head and dart in, dart out, a full out never ending assault, driving you to the very edge of insanity. This is probably how King Kong felt when he was hanging off the top of that Empire State Building with planes circling all about, shooting at him. I've never encountered anything like this. They swarm up on you and just start crashing into your head and neck area and biting you into submission to the point of madness. You'll run, flailing at the blurry insect riot going on about you, not giving a crap how you look to other hapless hikers, who are all doing the same thing anyway. You all run back to the safety of the car. But the buggers, they get right in with you and start hurling themselves around the interior like a freaking poltergeist. Seriously. Wtf. No, I don't know what the heck they are. I call them Murder flies. Maybe genetically mutated, killer flies, that escaped from some top secret military lab somewhere and started breeding out of control. Even my dog was begging me to get him out of there. They should just seal the whole dang place off like they did with Chernobyl. Pour a giant concrete dome of the entire thing and shut it down. How the heck did the Indians ever survive living in this hellish place? I guess they didn't...which I guess answers my question. If you have to go to this god forsaken place for some sort of life or death reason, and it better be, wear a beekeepers outfit or steal an astronaut suit from NASA, or get one of those old fashioned deep diving suits with the big iron helmet that goes over your head. Forget about bug spray. It's a futile effort. These things don't care. They will not stop. On top of all that, the place is just kinda creepy, like some bad stuff went down there once upon a time. There is constant low level bad vibe there that I can't put my finger on. Something is not right there. Maybe it was built on top of a ancient Indian grave yard or something. Something is off there. Little bit spooky and I don't get spooked too easy. So, I write this as a grave warning to those who would like to visit this place. I would hate for some family to drive all the way out there thinking this will be great little find, a real hidden "gem". But it's not. Trust me. Go somewhere else. Anywhere but here. read more
