We were the only guest at the time and the quiet was wonderful. The space was clean; the bed was very comfortable; there was full bath and kitchen (fridge had trouble keeping things cold, never got above 45 degrees so take a good ice chest). The kitchen amenities were perfect for making breakfast and a couple of dinners during our 5 night stay. It was nice to have access to a TV but they do need to replace the swivel head which is broken and the TV is at a 45 degree downward angle. We propped it up with a roll of paper towels!! It worked. The outdoor space around the koi pond is so tranquil and pleasant that my husband and I hung out in our PJ and had coffee every morning. At night it was a great place to take in the stunning night skies. If you time it right you get ti watch Karen feed the giant koi Karen was very good at guiding us to the wineries and I can't thank her enough for recommending the Sonoita winery whose MeCaSah wine is truly an award winner. We also went the Vera Earl Beef which sell aged beef..so good. All in all it was so enjoyable and hope to return.

There are rolling grassy hills that are golden in the winter and green in the summer. A lot of people don't realize that the temperatures down here (due to the elevation) are much like northern Arizona in the winter -- so it's a great alternative to "going north" to cool off in the Summers. Temperatures rarely reach 100 on a Summer day and it cools to the 60s at night -- a luxury we don't get in the Valley! Our most recent visit (February 2012) was windy but gorgeous. No jackets required! Toni, proprietor, has started a gluten-free / allergy-free bakery and makes human AND dog treats! I can vouch for the human treats being delicious -- I especially liked the quinoa cookies. And, there's a lot to do in the area. No less than 11 winery tasting rooms are near by (there is a limo service you can hire if you can't agree on a designated driver). Or visit Parker Canyon Lake which you can walk (5 miles), fish or rent pedal boats or kayaks. Patagona Lake is larger and offers a lot of amenities and both offer camp sites. But, why camp when you can stay at Whisper's Ranch?! And, finally, Kartchner Caverns are a convenient stop on your way back to Phoenix but be sure to make a reservation! Southern Arizona, and particularly Whisper's Ranch, are great alternatives to heading north for a quick getaway!

You find it by 'mile marker' rather than street address and it's on a 'highway' but the GPS can't find it. The country around there is incredible. It's sort of near a bunch of wineries... but mostly it's around nothing but beautiful rolling grasslands. The accomodations are comfortable and simple. We had a nice hot shower after a long drive and were very comfortable in our bed. We couldn't get an $85 room--- the least expensive was $100 for us. They definitely prefer if you book in advance, over the computer. They're hard to reach on the phone and we were really lucky to be able to wing it last minute by just showing up. Luckily they took us in. We couldn't believe how beautiful Elgin was. Then we drove the back roads to Patagonia, AZ which was also great. We didn't get to hang out with the animals which was a shame- they had donkeys too - and it seems like heaven if you're a retired horse or goose. If you're just a wandering human, it's pretty damn beautiful.

It exceeded our expectations. We booked the Hummingbird house and Eagles Nest to accommodate all of us. The hummingbird house was newly renovated and remodeled and looked beautiful inside. It was a home away from home with all the amenities. It resides next to a nature preserve and we took a beautiful hike in the morning encountering a family of deer. The nature surrounding the inn was picturesque with a creek running along it. On Sunday, we were served an incredible breakfast by their chef in the main kitchen. The food was delicious and a very warm environment. The chef was super friendly and talked with us the whole time. We felt like we were in a friends home. Not too mention the unbelievable pies that were served every afternoon! Delicious! We will definitely return here for another visit. Thank you to the new owners that made the experience wonderful and easy! I wish I had pictures to share, but you will need to see it for yourself.

The B&B has several cabins as well as individual rooms in the 'main' building. We were on the 2nd floor. The bedroom and bathroom was comfortable and clean. The main guest spaces (communal) were cozy- a study/ curl up on the couch space to read or watch birds, a kitchen nook and a large main dining room area. A full kitchen and fridge is available for use. Breakfast items available for self preparation or granola bars and fruit and cheese for non- prep options. Pie, coffee, tea and juice were also available. Outdoors you have access to a private garden with chairs, decorative water features, and bird feeders, or a porch option with seating to observe the wildlife. A great getaway space to relax and take in nature ... and extra convenient being next to the Preserve. A few things to note: 1. The website boasts of a chef prepared breakfast in their video. That was discontinued a while ago and unfortunately not disclosed/ clarified (website does say continental breakfast... but the video is also up... mixed messages) at time of booking. While I would have like to have been pampered with a chef prepared breakfast... the alternative of having items available for your own fixings was also appreciated. (2) The pie mentioned in the video also not entirely accurate. There is pie for guests... but it's not homemade. Based on the pie boxes in the freezer it's pie from Walmart. Again, not an issue unless you are envisioning something different from their old reviews. (3) This property maybe for sale or in the process of new ownership.., can't confirm but I did see it listed online. Just hoping that new ownership continues to keep it as a b&b, does not increase rates significantly making it less affordable and continues to make it a haven for nature preservation and for people this.

Longtime residents/innkeepers Tom & Mary Jane are warm, hospitable, knowledable, discreet hosts, happy to chat if you want to and tell you all the local lore, also happy to give you space. Tom is an excellent gourmet chef & each breakfast is different. The main house is cozy adobe with a huge stone fireplace. Beds are comfortable w/good mattress. There's a mini fridge to store food and a microwave and 'common area' with hot coffee & a great selection of teas. The flagstone patio is excellent for dreaming, bird-watching, (it's a hot birdwatching place w/great biodiversity & right on some bird migration paths), star-gazing, and watching the sun go down with a glass of wine. The property lies off a dirt road, with excellent hiking, biking, and running trails and streams (at least in spring) so feels quite remote, but it's also about 3 miles from the little town of Patagonia. This is perfect for a couples getaway (there are two free-standing casitas plus a main lodge) but also for families and it's dog-friendly. They have a donkey and a horse who love snacks and an excellent library of books to read. It also seems to draw like-minded souls as the other guests we met over our 3-day stay were lovely, respectful, quiet, and as grateful and amazed as we were to have found this charmed hideway.

To completely experience the Hidden Oasis I highly recommend enjoying some bourbon in the hot tub under the stars and watching the sunset by the fire pit. It's quite a show. If you need to stock your fridges and shop for essentials during your stay I recommend: Benson, AZ - 17 miles away (SafeWay/Walmart) Willcox, AZ - 25 miles away (SafeWay) Local Activities include hiking and exploring the wineries in Willcox. Pearce, AZ is a local ghost town with a couple of shops that is 20 minutes away. Whether it's for a night or a week I think you will love your stay at the Hidden Oasis.

To my delight, Nissa fit us in on a holiday weekend no less for a sunset horseback ride. Emmanual, the resident cowboy and Ranch guru, is an absolute gem of a human, brotherly vibe from the moment we met him. The ride around the property blew us away, from a mini cattle drive, weaving through trees and brush, then making our way up to a sweet vantage point to catch the sunset. Truly a way to feel even more connected to this Hacienda! The adventure continued with Emmanual the next day when we had a spontaneous roping lessons by the pool and a shared cookout where we were honored by the presence of Nissa, Jeff, Rain and even the pups joined! Flawless experience that I look forward to repeating and most definitely will be back!
