I opted to bring my ID because I have not been carded in about five years. I am 43, and while I might pass for younger, I do not look younger than 30, I wish. The person ahead of me, who looked my age, bought alcohol and was not carded. I had visited this store several times, and the same cashier has checked me out without trouble before. When it was my turn, he asked to see an ID. I looked at him, puzzled, and asked if he was serious. He said yes. I noted that he had not carded me before; usually I would accept it as a compliment, but I wondered why he skipped the other person. I said, "F*ck it I'll be back" and went to get my ID. When I returned, I mentioned I am 43 and asked why he had not carded the person in front of me. He replied that he was just doing his job. I accepted that but repeated my question, and he avoided it. I handed over my ID, but he refused to scan the 6-pack and tattled out loud to someone I assume was his supervisor. I said fine and asked to take my beer to another cashier. He refused, placed it behind the counter. I asked to have it back and he refused. Tell me I can refuse to sell it to you if I don't want to. I asked again, and he told me to go to the liquor store. I was stunned. I never called him names or said anything derogatory him yet he said I was acting like a 10-year-old. Really, it was the opposite; this was all his reaction because I said F bomb, lol and called him out for not asking the other person for ID while claiming to do his job by asking me for mine. Is swearing against the law? So the other cashier said I'll take it. Hands the 6-pack to the other lady cashier. I grabbed my phone to check a message and the disgruntled cashier accused me of taking a picture of him and I said no I'm not. Then he threaten and said I swear if I catch you are taking picture me. Than stops. So now you are threatening. Honestly, I might have come harsh to him and actually did say sorry. I didn't swear at him directly. The lady cashier apologized for him. I told her I get the rules and laws. But it should apply to all. And if he thought I looked underage. Then thanks homie. But get your facts straight. We stopped by Casa de Fruta after attending the Norcal Renaissance Faire this past weekend. We had a pleasant time walking around and checking out the ducks and turtles in the lovely pond near the playground. Then we explored the area and purchased some cold beverages, chili lemon mango dried fruit, hot crispy beef jerky, and chocolates (reduced-sugar dark chocolate almonds and mint chocolate almonds). The lower sugar content in the dark chocolate almonds was definitely noticeable, but they were still good. And the mint candies were unique and enjoyable. The different buildings offer some of the same items. For instance, chocolates can be found in the main store, in the wine and deli shop, and in Casa de Sweets which serves ice cream and coffee delights too. And both the main store and restaurant have pies for sale. I appreciate the variety of offerings on site, as well as the scenic atmosphere for doing some shopping, eating, and spending quality time with loved ones.

The roadside appeal was fantastic and definitely caught our attention! We decided to grab some lunch and, of course, couldn't leave without checking out the gift shop for a bottle of wine. We were seated pretty quickly and our food came out in a reasonable amount of time, but unfortunately, the service was a bit underwhelming. Our waitress never really checked back with us, and we eventually had to flag someone down just to get a refill. BUT... the outside of this place is AMAZING! There is so much to see and do! A beautiful pond, water wheel, train, carousel and plenty of fun things to explore. It really makes for a great little stop while traveling. The gift shop was fun to wander through too, with wine, nuts, dried fruits and all kinds of cute little knick-knacks. We'll definitely stop at Casa de Fruta again when we're passing through--but next time, we'll probably skip the restaurant and stick to exploring, shopping and enjoying the scenery!
