So, I am sharing this review mainly to help Lucky train their cashiers. Not every staff member is an issue, but one individual stands out, and I am no longer surprised to encounter such situations in this day and age. Here we go, and I hope this worker realizes I could have made a bigger issue if I had chosen to. After I left my package at the kiosk today, I decided to buy a 6-pack of beer. I opted to bring my ID because I have not been carded in about five years. I am 43, and while I might pass for younger, I do not look younger than 30, I wish. The person ahead of me, who looked my age, bought alcohol and was not carded. I had visited this store several times, and the same cashier has checked me out without trouble before. When it was my turn, he asked to see an ID. I looked at him, puzzled, and asked if he was serious. He said yes. I noted that he had not carded me before; usually I would accept it as a compliment, but I wondered why he skipped the other person. I said, "F*ck it I'll be back" and went to get my ID. When I returned, I mentioned I am 43 and asked why he had not carded the person in front of me. He replied that he was just doing his job. I accepted that but repeated my question, and he avoided it. I handed over my ID, but he refused to scan the 6-pack and tattled out loud to someone I assume was his supervisor. I said fine and asked to take my beer to another cashier. He refused, placed it behind the counter. I asked to have it back and he refused. Tell me I can refuse to sell it to you if I don't want to. I asked again, and he told me to go to the liquor store. I was stunned. I never called him names or said anything derogatory him yet he said I was acting like a 10-year-old. Really, it was the opposite; this was all his reaction because I said F bomb, lol and called him out for not asking the other person for ID while claiming to do his job by asking me for mine. Is swearing against the law? So the other cashier said I'll take it. Hands the 6-pack to the other lady cashier. I grabbed my phone to check a message and the disgruntled cashier accused me of taking a picture of him and I said no I'm not. Then he threaten and said I swear if I catch you are taking picture me. Than stops. So now you are threatening. Honestly, I might have come harsh to him and actually did say sorry. I didn't swear at him directly. The lady cashier apologized for him. I told her I get the rules and laws. But it should apply to all. And if he thought I looked underage. Then thanks homie. But get your facts straight. It's a bummer because I like this grocery store but if I have to deal with that worker again I might actually truly swear at him. TRAIN YOUR STAFF LUCKY MANAGERS.l read more

Customer service was horrible, we were at self checkout and the older shorter lady there, instead of helping us she decided to yell at us saying "we were doing it wrong" and questions us if we "really" paid for our water! We replied "yes we did" but she asked us 3 times demanding to see our receipt for proof. Before us, she yelled loudly at another man for saying he didn't complete his transaction saying she'd call the cops on him, when really all he had left was to grab his receipt. read more

Went into Luckys today to grab a few things. Went to self checkout. The barcode on one of my items said didn't recognize. Then needs authorization from employee. There were 2 employees talking next to self checkout. I asked for help and they just looked at me and kept talking.Then they both just walked away. No we will be right with you. Nothing. Your employees need to work on their customer service! I will stick to Safeway! Their customer service is 10 times better! read more

This store is sketchy, the parking lot is sketchy. Selection is ok. Service? It's a gigantic store. Would be nice to see a couple other businesses occupy this space. We have 2 other regular grocery stores + Hollister Super. Why not have other choices? I went to the bakery and deli and got the worst costumer services. Tara from the bakery and maria from the deli were both extremely rude and I over heard them gossiping about other employee's which was very unprofessional. I shop at lucky's quite often however after this experience I am considering taking my business to safeway even if they are more expensive. read more

This review is SOLELY regarding INSTACART thru Lucky's not the store itself. I ordered a delivery as a donation to a local group who serves Christmas dinner to the homeless and anyone else who otherwise wouldn't have one. I ordered 10 packages (12 each) of dinner rolls and 6 pies. They delivered 6 pies and 1 package of rolls. I immediately called Instacart apparently my "shopper" thought I wanted 10 rolls not 10 packages For $30.00? they asked what they could do to make it right i said re deliver the rest of the rolls i paid for , I was told we cant do that because the rolls that were not delivered total 27.00 there is a minimum 35.00 I said but it was your fault He said im sorry we cant i can refund your payment method in 7 to 10 business days and since it was the ONLY money I had I couldn't supply the promised food to this very worthwhile cause. read more

Most of my rating comes from the fact that the parking lot on the side of the store is home to three RVs that are trying to make that lot their home. Management needs to step up and be diligent to keep the lot safe and clean for its customers. I called the non-emergency police line and an officer did go by, but I was also told that it is the management that should be on it. I also feel that the prices are quite high on many items and they take advantage of those who don't comparison shop. read more

Deli is lacking. Each time we have brought anything home from the hot food seli it tastes.. well, terrible. Staff is very friendly, helpful & always has a smile. The store is always neat i can find good quality fruit & vegetable. There french bread is fresh every bite. There seafood is also very fresh wait for the sales on the oysters if you love seafood. Lots of parking available. read more

Greg Gilman the store manager was extremely rude today to my wife and I. We had a question around pricing and he started stating his store policy. Upon asking to see his store policy, he stated "I can ask you to leave the store' how rude. He is being reported to corporate today as no store manager can take the demeanor of kicking their customer out of their store only for asking a store pickup which he quoted himself. Sad to see we still have people that through their weight around just because of their title. Definitely not manager material at all. Out of all the grocery stores in Hollister, I prefer Luckys. Store isn't cramped but big and roomy to push your buggy/cart through with ease. Staff is friendly and they don't seem to have a big turnover, so it's nice to see familiar faces when I shop. Good selection of meats, produce and international foods. Pharmacy is good as well. They really helped me out with a nasty experience with Walgreens transfer of my prescription. Thumbs up for me. read more

Just wanted to update my review. I stopped here and they finally remodeled and repainted the store (No more trashy colors). They put in new checkstand and flooring. However they still need to replace the refrigeration and the freezers and there's no doors on the refrigerators! Deli still needs to be updated but other than that the store has made a whole lot of progress. read more

I shop here most of the time because it's the closest store to my house. They usually have what I'm looking for, sometimes not everything on my list. Not a big deal. I don't care what the store looks like, though they did remodel and reorganize a while back. It's fine. So many people were wandering around the store trying to find things. The employees are always friendly and were very helpful during that time. Produce was recently reorganized. The set up is better and produce is easier to find. read more

Most of the staff is pretty helpful. There used to be some good people behind the register's. Today, I went in for 3 items for a meal, cheese, sausage and black pepper. Cost me almost $15. They used to treat disabled Seniors well. The sausage was suppose to be on sale for $3.99 with the regular price of $5.99. The lady working the register wouldn't give me the sale price because I didn't have the APP on my phone and I didn't have a coupon. This is the worse customer service I have seen there in a long time. Picked up a copy of the coupons on my way out of the store, but I couldn't find the one for this product, only the notice with the product. That service person at the register could have help me but decided to treat me poorly instead. If I have to have an app to get things on sale at this store, it's one less place I need to shop. Check out and courtesy clerks are great. Awesome to see they still have "Threes A Crowd" while other stores don't care about getting customers out. Would have gave the store 5 stars but their meat clerks (not butchers, there is a difference) are the worst. I never look forward to asking to get something cut there. You always get excuses. "We can't cut it stir fry we don't sell that", then just slap the same label that was on there after you cut it like every other store! Or "the butcher is on a break". The worst part is the look disappointment on their face as you walk up to the counter. This does not happen anywhere else. People are too lazy and entitled to hold down jobs that real men (or women) should be doing. read more

Let me start off by saying I hardley ever shop here but their Bakery department is AWSOME!!! I had called Safeway trying to order some cupcakes and they told me I needed to order it 48hr in advanced. I called Luckys and Tara took the call. I explained my situation that I needed a dozen cupcakes ready for the next day and If she would be able to do it. With no hesitation she said yes. I explained her what I wanted & mentioned that I needed them for a last minute gender reveal and told her that it was a Beauty & the Beast Theme. She said it was no problem & that she would be able to get it done. Due to the order being placed last minute I told her she can just make them plain with yellow & blue frosting. Here almost daily for roughly 6 years. Prices are always reasonable and often very good. All of the employees are pretty knowledgeable and friendly. The Hispanic guy with the glasses who I assume is a manager is very rude though. Has never offered a smile or a "how's your day going". Plus he's closed and locked the door on me as I was walking up, 5-10 minutes BEFORE they're supposed to close. Multiple times even though he knows how frequently I shop there.
