Up until recently, we didn't know the brain could lack development in the pathways, which are like roadblocks. And our children developed around those roadblocks. However, science proves we can go back and repair the undeveloped neuro-pathways at any age. I was referred here by a family member who shared about Brain Boost Academy's unique innovative methods which help people who lack certain early neuro-developmental sequences, which affect attention, learning and daily home life. I know how difficult it is to have a bright child that is very over-active like a little tornado with a short-attention span. I couldn't keep up with him and had to keep him busy to keep him out of trouble. I learned that with an evaluation, the deficits could be identified and treated specifically and that it would require a developmental one on one program. Seeing the progress before and after has made me a believer. I saw multiple results of how the program works. I wish Brain Boost Academy was available to everyone everywhere!

The staff that I have interacted with are all incredibly professional and knowledgeable. Hannah started out helping my son with English and reading comprehension. I am very impressed with the structure of the sessions. Hannah doesn't wait for my son to come with questions. She is already familiar with the school's curriculum and books that he is reading. She has questions and exercises for my son to work on that are directly related to what he's doing in school. Recently, she also started helping him with his math class that is now being taught at an accelerated pace due to the anticipation of returning back to campus in person. The amount of new information is overwhelming now that it's being taught at twice the normal speed. Hannah is incredibly knowledgeable of algebra and geometry and has helped my son immensely. Every session ends with a short virtual meeting with me of a summary of what they covered and homework assignments she has given my son to complete. A follow up email is also sent with this information. To sum up Santa Barbara Tutoring in one word: outstanding. I am very happy and it is well worth the money for the 90 minute weekly sessions. My son is now much more confident with his skills in English. He's always been an "A-/B+"student in English. But, it has been a struggle with many tears and virtual office visits with his teachers. He is now earning an "A" in class with much more ease and understanding. Thank you SB Tutoring!

All three of my boys are dyslexic, and I have spent years fighting a system that was fully prepared…read moreto let them fall through the cracks academically. By the time I realized how severe the situation truly was, thanks to years of the school district lying, manipulating and gaslighting me, my children were years behind and being pushed through school without the ability to properly read, write, or do math independently. I refused to allow that to become their future. Like many parents of struggling learners, I was desperate to find help -- and unfortunately, not all "experts" are created equal. We had an extremely painful experience with our first educational therapist, whose treatment of my child caused real emotional harm. After that, I became incredibly guarded, skeptical, and hypercritical of anyone I considered bringing into my son's life. I wasn't just looking for someone qualified. I needed someone safe, compassionate, ethical, patient, and genuinely skilled at teaching complex learners. Thank god for Kellie Henkel at Lights On Learning. Kellie completely changed Hudson's life. In just ONE year, she helped Hudson close massive academic gaps -- literally 4-6 grade levels in multiple areas. The progress has been unbelievable. What felt impossible a year ago is now our reality. Hudson went from feeling defeated and overwhelmed by school to believing in himself academically again. But what makes Kellie extraordinary is not just her skill level -- it's who she is as a person. She is kind, patient, calm, compassionate, encouraging, deeply knowledgeable, and an absolute badass when it comes to teaching kids with learning differences. She knows exactly how to push students while still protecting their confidence and emotional well-being. Hudson trusted her. He felt safe with her. She rebuilt not only academic skills, but self-esteem. As a mother who has lived through the trauma of watching her children be failed by schools and hurt by professionals who were supposed to help them, I cannot explain the level of gratitude I feel for Kellie. She will forever be part of our family's story. If your child is struggling -- trust your gut. Do not let anyone convince you your child is lazy, unmotivated, or incapable. The right intervention and the right teacher can completely change the trajectory of a child's life. Kellie Henkel did exactly that for Hudson, and I will never be able to thank her enough for what she has done for our family.

She still asks me to play the reading games with her from time to time. Grace currently in 1st grade. Our 4.5 year old, Joey reads with the owner, Matt twice a week. He's in preschool and can easily sound out 6 letter words. Joey reads over 400 words by sight. Tutorific has a reward system in place. You reach certain milestones and go to the "PRIZE WALL!" Joey adores the prize wall. A reward system really helps Joey stay on track. It's amazing having kids that can read at such a young age.
