This is my second time with the same incident happening. I asked for help and due to a language barrier with some staff, I had problems getting clarification on some products. The 2nd time was about a price that was marked incorrectly. Fortunately, the girl at the front was understanding and made the price change. Then they overpriced a specific whiskey that only comes in once a month . I went to Shoprite Liquors, Bottle King and Wegman's and their price was $15.00 cheaper and I could buy more than one bottle. I just purchased an item from this shop for pick up. They cancelled my order while I was waiting in line due to the item being "out of stock". Meanwhile, the item was sitting on the shelf behind the register. When I asked the owner why I couldn't just receive the product I purchased, he said that the price I paid was not the actual price and tried to up charge the particular bottle $600.00. The manager thought the interaction was funny, and told me that they would refund the money, but the price just went up. Avoid this place at all cost, and take your business elsewhere. read more

After going to Costa Rica over Xmas with my family, I wanted to keep the deliciousness flowing. While in Costa Rica I discovered their local beer, Imperial. After going onto their website for Imperial, it said that multiple stores had them. After calling Bottle King, Mahwah Liquors and Cork and Casket, not one of these stores carried it or even heard of it. Well, I called Ramsey and they did have it in stock and asked if I wanted it warm or cold. They also asked if I was ok with it warm, they would have it waiting for me at the register. Ramsey Wine & Liquor surprisingly has a good selection of French and Italian wines as well as wines from Chili and Spain. Prices are reasonable in comparison to other stores in Bergen County ranging from $10 up to $200 or more. This has been my go-to Liquor Store my entire life. (I grew up in Ramsey.) When I got into craft beers, they met and exceeded any selection I could have hoped for from a place 2 minutes from my door. When I got into Scotch, they had more bottles than I had even ever heard of. Point being, the selection is amazing. If they don't stock something, I generally assume it will be not worth the effort of looking anywhere else. Prices are always average, though there are plenty of deals to be had, whether on gift sets, seasonal items, or just general mark downs. Just the fact there ARE discounts is awesome from a local place, run by independent owners and not some retail chain. I've never felt ripped off there ever. And finally, I've been going there since I turned 21, I'm now 24, and I was always treated with respect by the staff who are extremely knowledgable about what they sell. From weeks where I went multiple times, to periods where I was out of town for months, these guys always remembered who I am and are friendly and polite. One of the best bottle shops in the area if you are a craft beer lover. I have found many a difficult to locate bottles here over the last few months. Prices vary on the bottles here. I have paid a slight premium for some bottles here vs. what I have later seen them go for at other stores (if they show up) but also have paid less than what I would have at other stores. My husband and I stop in here when we're dining in the area and want wine with dinner or just to bring home. They have a fair-decent selection of craft beer, but they don't have my husband's favorite, Gulden Draak, so I have to knock them down a point. They have a good selection of wines, and I was happy to be able to find a Riesling that I wanted to try that another store in my area didn't carry. Their prices seem pretty fair and comparable to other stores in the area for the most part-they are located in Ramsey, and their location is convenient to several restaurants, so it stands to reason that they could mark up a little. Most of the time, the employees are pretty helpful and friendly. It's a nice shop with a good selection, and as a bonus, they do have some chilled wines in the case for people grabbing a bottle to bring to dinner. read more

I had a horrible customer service experience here. I went in specifically because I had a balance on a gift card. They told me that my 3 month old gift card had expired. Then they changed their story and told me it had no balance. The owner was dismissive, rude and not the least bit interested in helping to solve the problem. The gift card is not issued by a third party and activity was untraceable so I lost out on that money in addition to being treated so badly. I'll never go back. read more

I was a frequent customer before the change in management. Over the last few months I noticed that I was frequently being charged more than the list price on the shelf. I let it go the first time, thinking it was my mistake. The second time I was more vigilant, and noted the price before heading to the cashier. Again, overcharged. I asked for the cashier to correct it, which she did. The final time I was changed $2 more for a 12 pack of beer. I asked the cashier to check the price on the shelf, since it was clearly listed. She said no. So I asked her to revoke my credit card debit and I returned the beer to the shelf. I found today to my dismay that the debit was still posted to my account. I contacted my cc company to dispute the transaction. Maybe this is an honest mistake, but it does seem to be a bit more sinister than coincidence would allow. read more

This is your typical local liquor store. As the other reviewer said you can find bottles of wine here for as low as $10. They don't try to gouge you on prices with beer or hard liquor either, everything is priced fairly for the region. The staff is friendly. The only complaint I have is that they don't sell any mixers here. There is a small selection of cans of coke or water, but if you want some tonic water or a Redbull you will need to look elsewhere. There is a Krauzers next door that could probably meet your needs. They do close at 11 which is annoying if you are not a 'plan ahead' alcoholic. You might find yourself outside their store, in the cold, banging your head against the glass door until you realize Brady's on the Station is 100 yards away. They make a good Long Island at Brady's. read more

Need a quick gift? This place is great. They do free wrapping of purchased wine/liquor and have a decent selection. Every year before the holidays I stop in and do all my liquor shopping here. They are knowledgeable when you have questions, and kindly left me alone as I paced back and forth through the isles for an hour trying to figure out what to get for people. read more

If you are a fan of some high end wines you have to go in and meet the new owners. They just bough USR liquors as well and going to fix that place up next. Bipin (one of the owners) has a vast knowledge on wine and spent almost 30 minutes going over some special wines and provided 3 or 4 great suggestions. When I'm stuck leaving home for work I always look for bourbons I can't find at home. Checked out Ramsey liquors. Decent general selection of bourbons, nothing exceptional. It took me awhile and I had a very good priced 2003 Evans ready but saw one of the small eagle trace experiments in the case and picked that up instead. They had a lot of craft beers and wine. I went into this store at about 2 pm on Saturday 4/8/17. The young woman at the register (somewhat heavyset with a bad attitude) was rather rude. She muttered "you're so weird" under her breath and was generally unpleasant. The irony is, she was much weirder than I am (presented herself badly, was dressed poorly, etc.). Overall the store is good, but it's unfortunate that it employs an individual who feels entitled to insult customers. She should be terminated immediately to avoid the loss of more customers, as I won't be going back there ever again. read more

I stopped in on a Friday night to pick up a bottle of wine for dinner (Local, the restaurant next door, is excellent). I was hoping for a quick cab recommendation for around $40 and asked a VERY old man (whom I will assume was the owner) for help. It didn't take long to realize that this very old man was also VERY drunk. He gave me his perspective on wine, wine tastings, wine vineyards, wine regions, wine tours, and on and on. What he didn't give me was a quick $40 recommendation. For a half an hour I listened as he tried to sell me $15 bottles of French and Italian wine. Fortunately he became distracted and I was able to quickly grab one of my regular favorites and leave. This must be a common occurrence because when I started to mention it to the help at the counter they looked embarrassed and made jokes about him. Nice store otherwise. Great selection.
