Wow! Blown away! I do not know why I have not visited this restaurant until now because the quality of the food and service was outstanding. And the restaurant is impeccably clean in a very comfortable, welcoming environment; the salt and pepper shakers even sparkled. Operationally, it is hard for a restaurant to hit it on all cylinders (food, service, cleanliness, timing, quality, etc.), but this location did just that. I got the Paul Bunyan Combo (three eggs, two pieces of bacon, two sausage links, ham, hash browns, and four pieces of french toast. Everything was excellent! I ordered my eggs soft scrambled and the waitress without any prompting wanted to ensure that they were done to my liking. She also noticed that I moved the ketchup bottle and asked if I needed another one; just moved it because I am not a fan of ketchup. Absolutely impeccable, vigilant outstanding service with a smile. And one of the team members was continually walking around the dining room with two pots of coffee (regular and decaf) and filled my cup of coffee four times to keep my coffee hot; I love that. I passed several great diners that serve very good breakfast to come here since I noticed all of the great reviews, and I would gladly do so again. I will absolutely frequent this establishment. I've been a loyal fan of the Ram's Horn Chocolate Cream Pie for years. Normally, I'd splurge on a hefty slice that justified the price tag of over $5 (though typically around $3 elsewhere). Today, opening my pie container, I was shocked to find that the slice I loved had been replaced by what feels more like a boxed, no bake knockoff. Gone is the beautifully flaky crust I had come to expect. Instead, what I got was a crumbly graham style crust, the kind you make at home with melted butter straight out of a box. I know this because I used to make them myself, and frankly, I could have made the same thing in my own kitchen. It's a real step down. Charging more than $5 for what looks and tastes like a convenience pie feels like a bait and switch. If Ram's Horn is going to downgrade their product, they owe their customers better value or at least some honesty about the change. Whoever approved this idea clearly does not understand that pie is about quality and experience, not cutting corners. Here's the thing. In the past, when I ordered or visited Ram's Horn, the slice of pie matched the menu photo, complete with that classic flaky crust that made it worth ordering. What I got today looked like it came from some knock off chef or wannabe baker's kitchen. And here's the kicker. Restaurants these days are charging up to $11.00 for a slice of dessert that used to cost under $3. Honestly, I could have bought a Marie Callender's Chocolate Cream Pie at the grocery store that would make this look bad. Ram's Horn should be ashamed for serving this and calling it the same Chocolate Cream Pie they've offered for years. Not sure why, but the thought of Mini from "the Help." I FOUND A PIECE OF WOOD IN MY FOOD!! Uggh, I wanted to keep this issue quiet due to the fact that so many employees work there. However, management was not accommodating at Rams Horn Southgate and would not even hear the issue quietly!! I was busy with work and tried to inform them a time after ordering. They called me crazy pretty much. The manager said it was chicken... I assure you it was a piece of wood. Please look closely at photos. At first I did not even want a refund.. just to inform. I use to work here unfortunately , Dave Adam the owner acts like he cares for you at first then treats you like your work isn't appreciated whatsoever. DO NOT TRY TO EAT ON THE CLOCK IF YOU WORK BOH YOU WILL BE HARASSED (wait until you get home) Base pay with experience & a 2 week window to see what you can do with added expectations did no add up. Added expectations with no raises. They pushed the fact they needed the help so I was generous to take the little bit they offered for the 7 month period that I worked here for. It was a job and I was very grateful for the things I did get from working here along with the dirty secrets that came with the job. Management & ownership was shady to be completely honest. No breaks through the whole day and if you even try to have 1 little bite of something you paid for to eat... (on your 8-9 hour shift) you get harassed. Not to mention the ceiling is disgusting. Basically crumbling down in the back kitchen area, water stains all over and mold growing in the floor and walls. Nothing has been redone there. Smells like sewage. The bathrooms are horrendous and i dont think ive ever seen someone cleaning it either. One of the stalls dont even lock and someone has walked in on me more than i can count. I dont recommend eating there. Or working there. They do not care about their employees. P.s.. some of the girls wear press on nails and I have had complaints from customers finding them rolled up in silverware and in takeout boxes. Not very sanitary.. read more

This restaurant charges a 3% fee to use a credit card, in a world where the times are hard plastic is what a lot of people use.. I call this padding the owner's pocket. Credit card processing is like lights, rent and labor all COST OF DOING BUSINESS. The server was great so the 1 star rating does not apply to her. Not my first choice of restaurants. Service was fair. Ordered a hot turkey dinner specifically asking if it's s turkey meat off a bone. I want real turkey please. When I got it --it surely wasn't off a bone. It's lunch meat cut a little thicker. Not sure what's with the stuffing. Weird looking, weird tasting. When she asked how was it. I told her it's not turkey off a bone like I asked. Her remark was it's from the kitchen I don't know if it was. Then why when asked did you say it was off the bone. Terrible dinner. I love this place in normal circumstances. It's just good diner food. I just took my 75 year old mother here. It was her first time having gone somewhere since Covid changed the world we lived in. I was extremely disappointed that there were a number of people that worked there not wearing masks, or wearing them with their noses hanging out. This place caters to an older crowd. For crying out loud, have respect for your elderly clientele and everyone else that comes here. Have respect for the people that you work with if you work here. I couldn't, in good conscience, go back here until you people learn to take things seriously. You would have thought the months of being forced to be closed would have been enough - but apparently not. So disappointed. read more

I woke up this morning in a bad mood and nothing was sounding good to eat. I remembered that Southgate Ram's Horn has macaroni and cheese on Fridays and that always cures what ails, so... My husband called up and ordered me a side portion. He also got me a ground round extra pickles, add cheddar. I cannot articulate how absolutely tasty that burger was. It had healing properties, let me tell you!! When I opened the take out container, I immediately noticed how fresh and juicy my burger was. The tomato and lettuce were crisp and the bun was toasted just right. The cheese was melted perfectly, it had collected at the edge of the burger in a delightfully thick wedge on one end. I knew then, that would be my first bite. As I tore into this masterpiece, a single tear rolled down my cheek. My morning had turned around entirely. I called to compliment the cook. A very friendly young woman answered the phone. I didn't ask for her name, but the receipt says Lala. Not sure if that's her. She was absolutely fabulous. She told me the cook who made my burger was brand new and it was his third day. She was so excited for her co-worker. I told her he can make my burger any day! I should have let her know how amazing her attitude was. She could have acted like I was nuts or blew me off, but she did not. She was so nice! Between her and the cook, I can say with 100% certainty that I will be back. The moral of the story is that these two wonderful people turned my crappy day into an amazing one. I had bad memories of Ram's Horn from years ago (in a different city), so I was skeptical about this location when my husband and our friends went out for dinner. I was pleasantly surprised with both my experience and my meal each visit. Although the staff is young, they are prompt and friendly. They never give me a problem with all of my extra sides that are always ordered. If they do make a minor mistake of forgetting something, it's quickly resolved. As far as the food, it's not obviously not a super high end place. But, I feel that that taste is in line with the price. I always get the Ram's Cobb salad, and end up taking a LOT home because of the portion size. It's just a basic grilled chicken salad, but it's always done the way I want it. For me, that's half the battle--especially when I'm always getting "extra this" and "none of that." The atmosphere is nothing special, but it's a family style place and does a nice job keeping that image. On a side note, this place does get VERY busy, especially after church times. You may have to wait a few minutes for a table if you go during peak hours. Just a heads up! read more

After eating here for over 10+ years, I was told today I was not allowed to order what I had been ordering for the last 3.5 yrs. I can't eat much, due to my medical condition; therefore I only order what I can eat. The other Rams Horn restaurants dont have an issue, but now this one does. I go there couple times a week with friends and once a week with my family. They have lost my business along with my family & friends. Sad! read more

I had the best dinner last night. It was 6:30 pm and the restaurant was totally full of life. We were greeted pleasantly and immediately seated and offered coffee and water. I liked how the hostess asked if I wanted a lemon with my water. Dad ordered fish & macaroni with slaw and I went for a cheeseburger and onion rings. The food was so well made, golden brown and delicious. My burger was perfect medium and the onion rings are awesome. They were light, crispy and not overcooked. The piece de la resistance was my Dad's fish and macaroni. The fish was crispy and light while the mac & cheese was hot and creamy. I love Ram's Horn. You get great food for a fair price. read more

Isn't typical for us to go there on a Saturday, but that's the early evening we ended up there. Our group was seated straight back, at the last row of tables before the booths. Our waitress was just plain stupid. we told her from the start that there would be 2 bills. we even made it very clear who was on which checks. Forget that she had to be asked multiple times for things like the sour cream that came with one meal, and the maple syrup for another. She came over while we were still eating, stood behind my friend, and asked us if we were all on one check or several! What? Had she forgotten writing two checks? Seriously? And then she said it was probably creepy, her standing over our shoulders - which it was - while we still ate...and she wrote our checks for a SECOND time. While hovering over my friend's shoulder! Very unprofessional! Won't go back on a Saturday again...and sure as hell won't sit in her section again if she's working! It shouldn't take 10 minutes to get syrup. read more

Rams Horn is a Southgate standby. My father-in-law often comes to this location after church on Sunday, and when we're in town we usually come too. It's diner-style food and the kind of place where breakfast is served all day--as well as sandwiches, wraps, chili and plenty of other selections. Breakfast is definitely Ram's Horn's strong suit. Pancakes, waffles, and hash browns are great. But sandwiches tend to be on the bland side, and the salads are usually kind of wilted and disappointing. Generally, the more unhealthy it is, the better it is at Rams Horn. Think speciality pancakes, three-egg omelets, fish & chips, and chicken tenders (and just forget about your diet for a meal) for the best experience. I have been coming in quit often lately as my kitchen is getting remodeled. I have very much enjoyed the options on the menu. I love the way they make their omelettes. They kind of mix it all into together instead of that greasy food over you can get at other places. They have a huge selection of lunch and dinner options. I had there chicken club sandwich with bacon cheese and avocado on ciabatta bread it was pretty tasty! They make good soups I have had the cream of broccoli and the clam chowder. The prices are good and service at this location has been good. The last thing I would like to add is that they have yummy desserts. I really enjoy the lemon meringue pie that with a cup of coffee hits the spot. read more

I cannot vouch for the "breakfast special" like the other reviewer, but the food is always good here. I agree that the management and wait staff are a little "different", but not creepy or anything. They always have some hearty dinner special that is a good value like an open face roast beef sandwich, things on that order. I can't seem to go in this place without getting the saucy burrito. Like other Ram's Horn's, there is a great dessert selection. My only complaint is that they are not open all night and should consider it. read more

Came in with a group of seven, was seated fairly quickly. The waitresses were very nice. My coffee was always full.(they had a guy coming around the restaurant just filling up coffee, excellent) the food came to us fairly quickly, everyone's food was there at the same time. To say i am disappointed would be much of an understatement. i arrived at Rams Horn for my very first time ever yesterday evening for a nice dinner date with my boyfriend. i am and always have been a breakfast type of person, so as i usually do at restaurants, i ordered some pancakes. i am not however a big fruit person, which is why i chose to get my pancakes plain instead of strawberry or even blueberry. our food arrived at our table about 6 minutes after ordering, which already seemed suspiciously quick. i, being a hopeful and very optimistic person l, chose to ignore this. now that our food was in front of us, we opened up our silverware and dived in because of how hungry we happened to be. i grabbed my fork, picked up a piece of a pancake, and ate it. at first, everything was fine and dandy. within about .7 seconds of the food entering my mouth, i realized i had just put a hot cake of hell in my very own body. the pancake expanded to approximately 8 times its original size in my mouth, and also acted as a sponge while absorbing all liquids i had inside of it. this resulted in me having to chew EACH BITE for several minutes each. this already being a large issue, keep in mind that i was on a date. now, on dates people usually have conversations. not this one. much of our nice dinner date was spent in silence as my very very patient boyfriend waited for me to chew. he finished his entire meal in the time it took for me to eat about 5 bites. this resulted in a very embarrassing and overall not very pleasant date. please, for the sake of future customers, change your pancake batter. or maybe even the method of cooking them. or for fucks sake hire a new chef. who the fuck doesn't know how to make pancakes. ?? i am not pleased. thank you. read more
