She sat with me as I cried, listened to all my concerns, and explained every step of the process. She answered all my questions, even those that were not related to my care plan. After getting five cavities filled, I can say with confidence that I trust her with my teeth. Dr. Gamboa is compassionate, which I find is extremely important in dentistry. The numbing was quick and painless, and I did not feel any pain once the numbing wore off. Although there is still work to be done, I do not feel afraid of going back. I loved how soothing the music was. I even remembered the tune on my return visit. The displays are calming, which is so important for dentist offices as we all know, and most of all clean. It was a very clean area and decorated tastefully with snacks and drinks available although I didn't partake. My favorite thing about my visit was how painless it was - again so important for a dentist visit. I had three fillings done so far and for each one, the numbing was on-point. I'm always apprehensive with teeth pain but the numbing was administered skillfully such that soon I had all confidence and was ready and calm during the procedure. Dr. Gamboa did a fantastic job of explaining what was to be expected as well as what she found during her procedures. Edger was great at making sure I had plenty of support in keeping my mouth comfortable. All explanations were calm and reassuring and my questions were taken seriously. I have Delta Dental premiere, which is great insurance. However, anytime there is a dental work to be completed. I have notice that I have to pay out of pocket, which is more than my insurance covers. So, I decided I would only do cleanings there. Their customer service as far as answering their telephone messages is lacking. They don't work on Mondays, so if you do leave a message it does take them a few days to get back to you. They definitely need work on following through answering the messages timely. Although they do good work when they are cleaning your teeth, I would not recommend them for a crown or tooth replacement. I had one completed here, was in severe pain for approximately 1 1/2 months. They adjusted it several times, 4 different appointments and ultimately decided they wanted to do an in office root canal. Mind you, they did not take x-rays to see if I needed a root canal. It was just mentioned that if the pain persisted, this is what I would need to do in office. The crown is pretty wide in consideration to the rest of my teeth. I went for a second opinion with my previous dentist in Fresno, the central valley. I now understand that I should have received the root canal prior to the crown. I took care of everything in Fresno, California. In any case, I'm looking for a new dentist now here in San Diego area. If you want a cleaning, only this is not a bad place to go however, for work to be completed on my teeth then I would definitely get a second opinion.

Some of the same staff is there from when I first started going and one of the reasons I'm still going there even though I don't work or live close by anymore is because of Daoud. Daoud is the best hygenist ever. He is so gentle and super friendly. I typically only have cleanings so most of the time is with Daoud, but Dr. Zand always remembers me, is super friendly and doesn't ever try to push anything on me. My husband now also goes here and he's had a root canal and fillings replaced without any problems. I really appreciate how the office knows their patients even when we typically only see them twice a year. I've never had any issues with insurance coverage and out of pocket expenses are reasonable. I like that I get text updates for appointment reminders and can usually find an appointment that fits my schedule easily. I tend to have to reschedule a lot for work, but never have problems doing so. I definitely recommend checking out Sorrento Valley Perfect Smile if you're looking for a dentist.

I initially went to this dentist because I had slight discomfort when biting on one of my teeth. I…read moredid not have any constant pain, but the dentist told me there was a crack in the tooth and immediately referred me to an endodontist. Based on that referral, I ended up getting a root canal on that tooth. Later, when I went to another dentist to place a crown, my new dentist told me that he did not see any crack in the tooth. He explained that in a situation like mine, he would normally first remove the old filling, clean out any decay underneath, and then place a new filling. According to him, a root canal might not have been necessary. Because of this experience, I don't understand why the first dentist sent me directly to an endodontist without first opening the filling or checking for decay. It made me feel like other treatment options were not properly considered, and unfortunately it caused me to lose trust. Another reason I decided not to return to this office for the crown is that they only offered porcelain crowns. My current dentist recommended zirconia instead, which is a stronger option for back teeth that handle heavy biting forces. Overall, I wish the initial diagnosis and treatment plan had been more carefully evaluated before moving straight to a root canal.
