Let me start by saying that Hector is the real deal. He is a true craftsman who is diligent, doesn't take shortcuts and will deliver beyond expectation. When we did our research, we were looking for someone who had experience building craftsman style fences. It was important for us to honor our historical California craftsman here in Upland. Unfortunately, we met fence builder after builder who said they could mimic the style and it would be fine. But we weren't looking for your basic fence, and we knew we had some challenges ahead with the sloping of the yard and all the math involved in making sure everything lined up correctly. We finally found Hector, who impressed us from the start. He was communicative and thorough. He took very detailed measurements, took his time to pick out the best pieces of wood, worked with us to finalize the approach and design and worked hard in the hot sun with a smile always and no complaints. He even built five custom gates along the fence that blend in harmoniously with the design. The pictures really speak for themselves. It is the most beautiful fence in Upland, and is quite the statement. Our fence was affected by the Eaton fire. We needed a full replacement of 150 linear feet of fencing. One of my neighbors recommended Hector and mentioned that he lives down the street from us. I'll admit I was hesitant to hire a "neighborhood guy" until I saw the pictures of his past work here on Yelp. As other reviews say, Hector is the real deal. We had several meetings with him as my husband and I worked through what material/style we wanted to go with. Hector was flexible and patient in answering our many questions and brainstorming with us. Ultimately we decided to purchase a composite fence kit from Home Depot. Hector and I had to communicate many times to make sure I got the order correct. He gave me an estimate regarding a start date and kept in touch until the project started. I will say that his communication is what really stood out and made the process go smoothly. He would text everyday letting us know he was on his way. He liked to touch base with us each morning and each afternoon to discuss the progress and plan. He took extra steps to make the fence look beautiful, for example, he cut down every single section (which was around 300 boards) so the sections would be even rather than have all 6 foot sections and one short section at the end of the line. Our fence was done in two days, including removing an old fence and making sure this new fence was on the correct side of the property line (Hector followed the markers in the ground from a surveyor to ensure this).
